The big surprise this week was when Nintendo announced it would be bringing the original game in the Fire Emblem series to the west for the first time ever.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light is arriving exclusively on the Switch eShop on 4th December and is priced at $5.99 (or your regional equivalent). One thing you might have overlooked is the game's file size. Obviously, it's a Famicom game, so it won't take up much space at all.

According to Nintendo's game page, it'll require 30 MB of free space. It features 25 chapters, more than 50 playable characters, along with multiple units and over 20 classes to select from.

Meet Marth and recruit some of the most beloved Fire Emblem characters in their 8-bit glory as you play through all 25 chapters of this classic Famicom tactical role-playing game, localized and released for the first time in North America—for a limited time.

Choose from over 50 playable characters and discover the roots of the strategic gameplay that defines the Fire Emblem series.

Keep in mind, the 30th Anniversary physical release of the original Fire Emblem on Switch comes with a code instead of a game cartridge - so either way, you'll still have to download this particular release. It's also another "limited time" title and will only be available until 31st March 2021.

You can pre-order Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light right now from the eShop or Nintendo's website. Have you pre-ordered this game yet? How about the anniversary edition? Let us know in the comments.
