I just wrapped up my playthrough of the first Mega Man Legacy Collection yesterday.
It's a miracle that I haven't gotten burned out yet after doing 100% runs of both the two X Legacy Collections as well as the Zero Collection back-to-back followed immediately with playthroughs of MM11 and the first Classic Legacy Collection.
Though I think it's high time I take a break from the Blue Bomber for a while before I get cracking on the second Classic Legacy Collection no matter how much I want to knock it out right now.

I'm already an old fart who doesn't like the idea of digital gaming taking away my physical ownership of games while usually chaining my digital ownership to a digital storefront that might not be around forever. This just takes that aspect even further. I'm happy that people who want to play these games on the Switch gets a chance to do so, but this just isn't for me.

I beat Mega Man 11's Super Hero mode and then I went back to the Mega Man Legacy Collection to rectify my childhood self's failure to beat the original Mega Man. Surprisingly enough, I found the game to be really simplistic and straight-forward, not counting my numerous deaths to a certain yellow menace before I mastered the art of tapping the jump button to avoid its blocks without leaving myself open against the next one. I suppose having my marathon dedicated to 100% running the entire X and Zero series fresh in my mind helped a lot.

As someone without depth perception, I doubt this would've done much more than blur the screen even if it did work as intended like whenever I end up watching 3D movies at the cinema. Then again, perhaps it'll actually function for me since the average viewer doesn't see the effect?

I've been enjoying me some classic Mega Man action with Mega Man 11. I've always been more of an X/Zero/ZX guy, but I do still enjoy going through the classic series from time to time and the Double Gear system in 11 does help in making the game feel less simplistic and restrictive in terms of gameplay options by comparison.

Another point that stood out to me was how well-balanced the difficulty in this installment is, as it manages to replicate that satisfying sense of accomplishment you get from beating a stage from past entries without ever making the common misstep of simply resorting to cheap-shots and traps that end up being unavoidable for first-time players.

I've finally finished off my journey to unlock Ultimate Mode in every Mega Man Zero game yesterday. I've still got the minigames in Z3 and Z4 left until I can truly consider the games 100% beaten, but at least I got all the in-game unlockables done.

Unlocking the mode in Z4 was kind of uneventful compared to the other games since I don't feel trophy hunting for enemies feels as rewarding as going out and finding collectables deliberately placed in hard-to-reach areas of each stage. Plus, unlike in Z3, you have to grind to level up your Elf again as a requirement for unlocking the mode, but at least it's just one elf.

Continuing on my way towards 100 percenting the Mega Man Zero Collection, I finally finished up Zero 2 by getting the Ultimate Form today. I was quite dreading this particular game since it's probably the one I've got the least memories of, but it went surprisingly smoothly all things considered. Knowing that Z2 still required the player to upgrade every elf after aquiring them, I was expecting to have to grind again to get all of 'em upgraded, but luckily, the energy requirement for the elves combined are literally less than even a third of what they were in Z1, so it really wasn't a big deal.
I also ended up doing an elfless run of the game before going back and using 'em all even though only Z1 has that requirement tied to its unlocks just because I felt in the mood after Z1 made me do it.

I went back to the first Mega Man Zero and finally unlocked Ultimate Mode after all these years.
The experience definitely made me appreciate how much more streamlined they made the process of unlocking the mode in the rest of the series, though I did at least enjoy the challenge of beating the game without using any elves to unlock the secret elf and was surprised by how nicely balanced the game is for that kind of playthrough in spite of your tiny health bar.

I finally finished my playthrough of the entirety of the Mega Man X Legacy Collection. I really needed that boost in quality that X8 provided after sitting through both X6 and especially X7 back-to-back. Hopefully the people who passed on X8 in the past will give it a second chance now that this collection is easily available on all modern platforms.
