You might recall a post last week about a horrific typhoon that devastated Japan and literally knocked the 'N' out of Nintendo at the company's head office in Kyoto. The storm was considered one of the worst to hit the country in 25 years, leaving a trail of destruction in major cities. Nintendo got off lightly in contrast, with the loss of the big 'N' and having to temporarily cease its telephone and online customer support.
Twitter user @k64ss MariLuiysg has now shared photos of the logo being fixed, with the 'N' back up on the building - ultimately restoring the company name to its former glory. Here's a look at the delicate operation below:
We can only hope Nintendo Japan is finally able to put all of these troubles behind them - including the recently delayed Direct due to the earthquake in Hokkaido - and move forward.

Rejoice!!
Hail Nintendo!
@StephanDLW Wow, only 5 years? We Brits can beat you - 10 years, if you are lucky.
But i liked Intendo! Nintendo! 😂
Press statement
'Here at UK Builders Company, we were highly honoured that a Japanese company would outsource their repair work abroad and give us a chance to prove to the world how great British construction is. So on behalf of the UK Builders Company, welcome back intendoN.'
I've had a good few days calling them intendo, but now the dream is over...
@FragRed depending on where in the UK you live it could take even longer, there is a shop in my town whose sign has been missing a letter for about 20 years now
still it does mean we can actually call it the "Cop" shop
They intendo to fix the Nintendo logo
@FullbringIchigo I just walk down any local high street and it's full of depression at how void it is of life... and shops. It's rather sad.
But is it the original N or a new one? I assume original because it hasn't taken long to fix. What happened to it? Where did it land? Who found it?
'N it's back.
N deed.
@FullbringIchigo @FragRed Don't forget it'll likely run over budget to do it too.
How dare you rob me of all my puns! My puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnnnnssssssss!
@SlyPlayr09
This comment puts the famous Crash Bandicoot 1996 commercial in an... interesting new light.
@XenoShaun Oh of course! You got to keep upping that budget, even if work has yet to begin.
@XenoShaun that's because they will pay a team of 10 people 5 years and thousands in funds for them to design a new sign and then they just end up changing the colour
Nintendo make fun games but they work from a building that looks like a hospital.
@FragRed heh, we Italians have had that stupid thing in the middle of Rome crumbling to pieces for 2k years or so and no one has even touched it...how’s it called again? Ah, yeah, “the Coliseum” or something...lol 😆😉
N is back.
Thanks to Worker Mario.
@Nincompoop and what else did you expect? A theme park?
@clvr I’ve heard of that place Rome, didn’t you have an empire at one point, nothing big or long lasting, but I think they came and visited us once
@Nincompoop
Excuse me.
Another satire comment again ?
What's wrong with Nintendo HQ building design ?
None of your business to crtitize the design.
Maybe looking serious outside, but really fun inside.
Japan has a LOT of experience with repairing things mother nature destroys...
@Nincompoop ... what did you think it would look like? It's an office building, not a theme park.
@Nincompoop I was thinking the same thing.
@FragRed eh, empire, if you even wanna call it that...just a couple shepherds and a bunch of sheep 😉
@BladedKnight yeah man, that was made by BCJ. They the same architecture firm that made The Apple Store on 5th Ave.
I like how it seems to be a slightly different color.
If that's the original ''N'', then it must have landed on a Snorlax or a Mario spring to be intact like that.
So, the N is back intendo again, huh?
Nintendo HQ is fully armed and operational, just in time for 6.0 and the online service.
They announced Animal Crossing, so I returned the letter N to the sign, simple
I'd heard it wast being used for their 'Nope' tour.
Touring the UK and USA offering nothing that we wanted from the online service.
Is there a picture of intendo?
I guess those "intendoomed" posts were right after all,
intendo really is dead!
Fake N's.
@erv
Um... excuse me ?
Fake N ??
@Anti-Matter well it's not the real N is it? Is it?! It's NOT THE REAL N! Fake N's!
@erv
So, what was that means by saying Fake N ?
@Anti-Matter we all know the N is fake. It's not the real n.
Nothing can replace the original N!
@erv
@Aozz101x don't ruin the fun !
Does this mean we'll finally hear news on the NX?
@FragRed @StephanDLW ... Here in Mexico we would do it in 2 days.... and a whole year until they realized they put up an M instead of an N
@fafonio It has been known that once my local UK council had a brand new bench placed next to a bus stop, only to find it had been put down facing the wrong way. So what do they do? They have it removed and thrown away and another new bench put down in it's place. And these cost about £500 each excluding labour costs, so you can see the money wasted with just a bench.
Also one of the council buildings was supposed to have it's £100,000 a year lease not renewed a few years back... only for someone to forget to stop the renewal process which meant that an empty building is sat costing thousands a month to do nothing.
RIP intendo
@StephanDLW In my country they just don't fix it. Its eternally broken.
If the N that they placed there is a new one, then the old one must be on sale somewhere on eBay for millions of dollars.
@GrailUK The old chippy near to my parents house had 2 of its letters removed by the local yobs. For many years it was known as 'Charlie's hip hop'. They never bothered to fix it either before they closed down and were replaced by a Chinese takeaway.
I'm glad the big N is back : )
@OorWullie Lol. Wonder how many folk wanted to buy records!
Switzerland is one of the countries that would fix things a.s.a.p. They do not want to leave any work unresolved pending.
Japan is one of them too I believe.
