Re: Weirdness: Solid Snake's Voice Actor Takes Issue With The Character's Flat Derrière In Smash Bros. Ultimate

CrimsonMoonMist

MGS4 had the most advanced man-butt tech of its generation and it is a true travesty to see the perfectly genetically engineered "ASSets" of Solid Snake be misrepresented in such a manner!

@Bread-Not-Toast Lighten up, Hayter's just joking around. It's not like anyone's sending death-threats to Sakurai while demanding Snake's buttocks to be tightened up... yet. ~ sigh

Not too surprising considering BBTAG's DLC drama (which means people may just be waiting for the inevitable ASW expanded version with all the characters included) along with Mori's disasterous interview about how they made the game with simplified mechanics to appeal to the Western market which is both disheartening to the Asian market AND a rather rude decision to make on behalf of the Western one. I do really like the game, but I can't say this backlash is surprising.

As a fan of BB, P4A and UNI, my chief concern going into this game was whether or not the game would sacrifice the depth found in those games for the sake of reaching a wider demographic outside of the fighting game community.
Now, the moveset per character is certainly more simplistic, and honestly rather odd compared to what those games offered, as light, medium, heavy, persona and drive attacks are now mainly done through repeated tapping of the two buttons (yes, auto combos are here in full force) that were usually reserved for simple light and medium attacks previously while more important actions and attacks are now mapped squarely to what used to be the heavy/persona attack button, presumably for easier conveyance of the moves' importance or somesuch. With no real command normals to speak of, you'll quickly find that you need to engage with the auto combo system to make use of most of your normals whether you'd like to or not. Still, once you get the hang of things and stop treating the game like BB, UNI or P4A, it all starts coming together rather nicely.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend?

I finally got the best ending in Cave Story a couple days ago.
I've been playing the game since it came out way back in '04 but somehow never actually gathered up the courage to power through the Sacred Grounds/Blood Stained Sanctuary. It feels good to finally scratch that off my to-do list after all those years.

Only NES at launch? Talk about retreading old ground.
It's getting exhausting having to restart from the 8-bit era and slowly work our way back up again each time a new VC service comes out. I just want to see something new from the service like the GC, DS or Wii at this point.

I still never feel like I truly own something unless I have it physically in my hands. Sure, most services have contingency plans in case the service goes offline to assure that people can still play their games, but I don't like to have to rely on blindly trusting that they have my back if the service goes bottoms-up or I lose my account. Then again, I have little choice as a PC gamer. At least GOG makes putting games on an external hard-drive easy.

Re: Art of Fighting 3 Is Your Next HAMSTER ACA Release on Switch

CrimsonMoonMist

This is by far the best in the series, but the second one has a great roster so I do hope they get around to that one eventually.
Hopefully this Switch release helps bring attention to this game's beautifully smooth animations and great spritework.
You always hear talk of SFIII and Garou's amazing sprites,
but this one never gets brought up.
