SNK has announced that the Neo Geo Mini is set to receive a limited edition Christmas variant which will come with more games included. This edition has 48 games available to play, as opposed to the standard edition's 40.
From the 48 titles set to be available in the Christmas edition, nine are not available on the standard and international versions (both of which had different titles, which means you'll need all three to truly be complete and contented). The image below shows all of the games you'll be able to play, and you can find a full list of games from the original machine in our hardware review to compare.

Here's the full list, with titles in bold being new entries which were not included on either the Japanese or International versions of the Neo Geo Mini:
Aggressors of Dark Kombat

No exact release date or pricing has been confirmed for this special release just yet, but it would be pretty safe to assume that it will become available over the next few weeks ready for Christmas. Of course, this new model - which may well be the most hideous-looking console we've ever seen - will likely make the original version a little less appealing thanks to its superior library of games, but at least the older model doesn't look like a box of chocolates you got from Santa.
We'll leave you with some images of the new Neo Geo Mini down below - it comes with two special edition gamepads, an HDMI cable, stickers and more. We feel sick just looking at it.

Would you like to get your hands on one of these? Did you already find a way of snagging the original for yourself? Let us know your thoughts on this below.

It's utterly hideous.
Not interested at all.
(Keep playing Nintendo devices)
I’d be tempted with new games...if it didn’t look ghastly.
Wow, that is one ugly system! Why would they do this? D:
If anyone wants to gift me something. This is it
Comes with complimentary eggnog!
Not sure why everyone think it's hideous. Looks fantastic to me, the red color makes it feel closer to the westernized MVS arcade cabinet.
I don't understand the numbers. I've always sucked at math, but 40 plus 8 equals 48. In the list I see a lot more titles in bold.
Anyway, garish, yes, but more complete. It's a shame the emulation wasn't good.
@Moroboshi876 It’s probably because other versions also has some games not included in this special edition, as the words in the parentheses of the second paragraph suggest.
@Moroboshi876 They haven't simply taken the original 40 and added 8. They've changed up some of the games entirely, so the bold ones are those that weren't available on previous machines. 🙂
I wouldn't complain if I got this as a present.
I'd buy this as a games collection but I have no interest in the little mini cabinet
@ryancraddock Ah, OK, so actually some games are missing from this edition. Thanks.
Quite some old news I am afraid
I mean, there were Neo Geo arcade cabinets in red with white letters, so it's appropriate. The real head-scratcher is the inclusion of KOF 2k1 on the list.
I actually kinda like it, as tacky as it obviously is. But I'm a real sucker for Christmas colours and basically anything Christmas themed.
Now is the question when and if (giving licenses) Capcom doing it's CPS1 / 2 / 3 mini...
I’d buy this or even the original if they fixed the resolution you get when you hook it up to a TV. It’s not good enough as the switch versions look better.
It's a shame the gold stick, buttons and little stars don't glow in the dark just to add to the tackiness.
@ryancraddock Several of the titles listed in bold were on the international edition.
Blues Journey
Magician Lord
Metal Slug X/4/5
King of the Monsters 1&2
Robo Army
Shock Troopers.
So of the 18 listed in bold, only half of them weren't on the international edition.I know some of those were on the Japanese edition too.
The cons far outweigh the pros for me. On the one hand, many of the Neo Geo games I actually care about or have been interested in trying are actually on the list. On the other hand, its look is very... seasonal, it will probably end up as an ebay exclusive anyway, and for the money, I'd rather just buy the individual games on the Switch.
The gold will likely flake off with use over time, not good for the long haul. (maybe it'll be better if you only use it during the holidays?)
You all do realize the ugly christmas art are stickers right? They don't apply them in the box, YOU DO.
Print some MVS looking art, CPO around the sticks, a faux marquee up top, something nice for the bezel, and you have kind of a big red US cabinet with the Japanese shape to it. Compromise sure, but they weren't ever going to do it right anyway.
My eyes!
I ordered the international edition when the priced dropped a little. More games on this edition does not compensate for that look however.
Still no Neo Turf Masters? What are you even doing?
Hahaha, that is hideous!
I skipped the original thankfully, but if this model fixes the MANY issues of the original, I'll probably get it.
Wow, I literally bought the International version a week ago! Though, I did buy it for the novelty than the actual games (didnt think playing on a mini arcade would be so cumbersome).
This version is looking to be pretty expensive as well, given the timing of release and everything it includes. Dont think I'll lose much sleep over this.
I have the international version and it's pretty cool. This Xmas version though is butt ugly and cheesy as hell.
I have been tempted by the Neo mini don’t like the colour of this one tho but why bother when most of these games are available on the switch plus I have neo turf masters which isn’t available on any of the neo mini versions and they look great on the switch
I like the Christmas design and I've been meaning to play most of these NEO GEO games. I'm just kind've shocked the original had none of the Fatal Fury games
@1UP_MARIO Nice gift if you really hate someone
That merry Christmas part will make this look very odd 11 out of the 12 months of the year.
Tempted to get it, but I’m still ok with getting NEO GEO games on Switch.
I'm going to make a HUGE assumtion, by saying
people probably would rather have the original 24, and a more playable format, like a handheld, than 48 that you can't play worth a damn
unit $150
HDMI cord $10
wired NEOGEO controller $33
$193 to make it playable......
Aye Don't Thank So Yo !!!
Finally made a western version with Twinkle Star Sprites!
Too bad – I might have bought it if you hadn't just announced the game is coming to SWITCH!!!!
I've been waiting for that classic title since the Neo Geo VC were first announced on the console!
How about you add micro switches to the joystick and correct the HDMI image before rebranding your left over inferior micro consoles SNK?
I honestly expected more from these guys..
I find it funny that people on Nintendo Life and complaining this system is ugly because of its color, but whenever Nintendo releases some weird edition of one of their systems, the reaction is "Oooh, it's so beautiful!"
I need a Usb mini cable for my Neo geo mini
will this work? is a Hdmi to Mini hdmi
