@Rainbowfire : Long story short, KoF is SNK's standalone crossover series that features several characters from Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Psycho Soldier, Samurai Shodown and more, in addition to its own original characters (Kyo, Iori etc.), and KoF is also known for its 3-on-3 team gameplay among other things.
I know reality is cruel and all but these past couple of years have just been plain brutal. Both within and outside Japan we're losing too many good people.😞
@martynstuff : I don't think you are reading too much into it.
I feel certain that it is indeed a flashback moment of the Mario bros as teens. Maybe a scene that was gonna be squeezed afterwards in Luigi's memories (after the 'Baby Mario & Baby Luigi' flashback seen in the movie) but got cut.
Would have been funny to see. ^^
I'm still mourning Toriyama's loss, but I will re-read many Dragon Ball chapters (and other works of his such as Dr. Slump) to cheer myself up remembering this brilliant man. I need to play Chrono Trigger and some Dragon Quest games again as well.
@AlanaHagues: "Sonic the Hedgehog's 'Super Sonic' transformation, meanwhile, was heavily inspired by the Super Saiyan transformations from the original Dragon Ball Z manga — the first transformation took place in 1991, and while the similarity could just be a coincidence, it's striking, with spikier hair and a bright gold colouring used in both transformations."
In addition to that, Yuji Naka confirmed once that the Special Stage area in Sonic 3 & Knuckles was inspired by King Kai’s planet, Vegeta was clearly one of the inspirations for Shadow (an early sheet of concept artwork seen in the 'Sonic the Hedgehog 25th Anniversary Art Book' uses "Vegeta" as a keyword describing him), and Sonic Team also confirmed back during Sonic '06's time that Silver the Hedgehog was inspired by Future Trunks.😊
All these tributes and paying respects are wonderful.
I re-read the first three chapters of Dragon Ball on MangaPlus as a form of tribute, the tears continues to stream down my cheeks.T_T
This is without a doubt one of the hardest punch in the guts ever. Even though I outgrew Dragon Ball a long time ago it still has a special place in my heart because it was not only one of the first mangas I ever read but also one of the very first works that introduced me to the Japanese entertainment industry.
The world of manga, and comics in general, has lost another legend. Rest in peace Toriyama sensei, and thank you for your hard work and timeless contributions.
Mutant Mayhem was decent but I can't say I'm a big fan of it far as animated TMNT movies goes.
As for this tie-in game, I need to see a trailer first but I'm being very cautious considering the publisher here. Doesn't help that the game is 2-player only in co-op. Seriously, whats up with that?
Nice, maybe TfB can partner with Nintendo to work on one of their dormant IPs if Nintendo gives them a chance. Same thing with Sony if they work with them instead.
It was decent. I was only interested and glad seeing some games I already knew about before (specifically Penny’s Big Breakaway, Another Crab’s Treasure, Pepper Grinder, and Tales of Kenzera: ZAU).
Always nice seeing more classic Rare games coming though.
@SpaceboyScreams : Sales is always a valid reason but that doesn’t mean its always the easiest choice.
In this case there are also licenses to think about (among other valid reasons).
Mario Kart is a Mario subseries featuring a Mario cast (plus Miis, and a few other Nintendo guests), Nintendo has a easier time, relativelty speaking, doing what they want to the IP.
Smash on the other hand is one of the biggest crossovers on earth that features a huge size of different Nintendo characters not limited to Mario and an almost as large size of third-party characters, and thats without thinking about the massive Nintendo and third-party content featured in the IP (music, assist trophies, spirits etc.).
If Nintendo ever were to make a re-release of Ultimate in the near future then great, I would buy it in a heartbeat, but at this point its just a pipe dream at best thats not worth holding my breath over, thats my take on this.
@SpaceboyScreams: An updated edition makes sense but if Nintendo hasn’t bothered making them of previous titles since atleast Brawl they are not gonna do it now.
And if the rumor(s) of the ”Switch 2” being backwards compatible is true thats atleast one more reason why it likely won’t happen if we can already play Ultimate on the console.
Any more new content and fighters that Nintendo and Sakurai may have in mind they are highly likely already saving for the next Smash installment.
Knowing Nintendo we most likely won't be getting any kind of "Plus Edition" or whatever we should call it version of Ultimate ever. A collection of Smash N64, Melee, Brawl, and Smash 4 seems much more hopeful in comparison to that possibility imo.
On-topic, cheers for the last significant update of the game! Well done Sakurai and the entire dev team!🍾🎉
I mean, what did people who were seriously letdown expect? We weren't ever gonna get an actual "classic Shadow model". A costume thats just that, literally a costume, makes more sense.
Oh really Sega? What a shocker...😒 Seriously though, with Sonic Superstars being released on the same week as Spiderman 2 and SMB Wonder (among other factors), the game's dissapointing sales are no surprise at all.
@Quiet2down : Yeah I know. Was just making fun of lizuka since we are arguably getting an appearance of Shadow in the classic era in a way, even if its just a costume.
Great, the horrible rumored name is real, super....
Moving on, I’m really hoping this has enough new content outside of all the Shadow stuff to actually excuse a full price. Like more stages & bosses (including the ones from the 3DS version), and overall more unlockables.
