The number one thing I want to know about the switch 2, is it going to make my library of roughly 400 Switch games play any better? I'm not paying more than $70 for any game unless it's on my very small list of must haves, so I mostly just want the Switch 2 if it will smooth out framerates for my existing game collection.
At one time my interest was as high as you could go, and I planned to buy two at launch with no questions asked. Now I'm actually considering not buying one at all and having the switch be possibly my last Nintendo console. Nintendo is gonna Nintendo, as time goes by it seems like they just might be doing it without me. Honestly, this has been a colossal failure of a launch so far.
Being someone I would consider on the higher end of collectors, roughly 400 games and seven switches. Yes the magic has seemed to fade due to recent events. I’m pretty sure that at this point all that has happened has made me decide that while I’m still most likely to buy a switch two, I’m no longer going to be a collector this generation and will instead use the switch two for whatever non paid enhancements it will give to my current library plus the occasional game. Number one, I’m a physical collector because it’s my hobby to collect, and if Nintendo is going to distance themselves away from true physical collections that’s not good for me. number two it does seem that greed is sneaking in even more for Nintendo and this seems like as good time to start weening myself off the collectors mentality. Nintendos going to do what they feel is right for them, and I of course will do the same for me. I waited for years as has a lot of people to finally get the next switch, it’s kinda sad that it went down like it has.
@GOmar not familiar with that controller, but comparing it to the Nintendo pro controller it’s it's roughly the same size but a little lighter. My wife just got one for herself and likes it.
Just got the dark blue one in the mail yesterday. I like the feel in hand more than I like my pro controller. 8bitdo makes some nice controllers and fightsticks, and I’m a sucker for them, so I keep buying.
For those that may not be aware, you can buy 4 Neo Geo compilations which come 10 to a cartridge over on Play Asia. Personally, I prefer physical so these are great in my opinion.
Bought the digital version of Ender Lilies on a whim...It hit the right cords so I ended up looking to play-asia for a physical copy of both that and Ender Magnolia. Just counting down the days until they arrive at my doorstep.
I have a Steamdeck with around 400 games, I find I use it very rarely. I do play my switch at least 3 times a week though including some family time games.
I'm pretty sure one of the big reasons for the decline in physical sales is that stores don't have the physical product to sell anymore. I've gone to a Best Buy and seen a total of like 8 Xbox games on the shelves, I've gone to Target and saw 5 of the same. This goes for PS as well, although it's slightly larger. Over the last few years I've switched to almost exclusively buying physical switch games, but even that's getting harder to do. This leaves Amazon usually and now more than ever Play-Asia. So it's ironic they talk about declining sales when they don't sell the product on the shelves. Once physical is gone I'm no longer a collector and will most likely be a handful of games type of gamer.
Gave it a four. If they had announced and shown it before the internet did it for them I would have given it a six. If they would have shown at least three games for twenty to thirty seconds each I probably would have did a seven.
@ozwally Thanks for the good news. I'm still waiting on a my order. It was set to be shipped by Jan 1st and then it moved to Jan 18th, so we'll see if they actually ship out or not.
These pre-orders didn't just go live as I pre-ordered around a week ago. Placed two orders Ender Lilies SNK sel. 1&2 and wizardry and an order with SNK Sel. Vol 3&4 with Freedom Wars Remastered. As stated above on both orders I got the 3 for $100 deal which is why I actually added in Wizardry to qualify on the first order. Can't go wrong with SNK games.
Have the physical on pre-order for about a week now with Ender Lilies and the first two NeoGeo Selections. I'm sure I'll be picking this up for the US in digital as well.
Sadly mine is across the country, now with a big "shipment delayed" from Best Buy. All of yesterday it had the "arriving today", even though when you went in you could see it was actually set to arrive on 11/26.... I love modern day conveniences like having items shipped to you instead of just walking into a store on launch day. Took a nice 4 day week-end with thoughts of enjoying this game.
@bransby Same here, I would be interested in seeing what they offer for the reason of simplicity. As I've gotten older I enjoy ease of use over fidgety complicated systems more. Don't even care if it's the most powerful as long as it's easy to use and fun. I just want to play the games, nothing more. I'm currently down to two systems I actively support: Nintendo (physical) and Xbox (Gamepass). If MS can give me a quality portable system for Gamepass I'd be all in. My steamdeck is fine, but it's more a holdover from decades of PC gaming.
After all this time, it looks like we finally may meet face to fact this week-end. I hope I'm not disappointed, after all, I've heard some things recently.
@hel105 Thanks for the heads up, I've gone and checked it out on LRG and will get ordering this and Val. Chronicles 4, although that one seems expensive for what it is. Thanks again.
@Gatorclops
I highly doubt it's "more likely" as the current meme trending is "aint no party like a Diddy party"... considering it's probably the most popular meme right now, I'd be hard pressed to believe they are referencing a 25 year old song that is totally irrelevant in 2024. Even if it were, it's in bad taste at this moment in time given the current trending meme and its disgusting meaning.
Wow, I'm not sure I will ever look at a Nintendolife censor on comments the same again after reading this articles title. Looks like someone needs to do a little soul searching at the good ole NL.
@EarthboundBenjy Totally understand what you're saying, but for whatever odd reason it doesn't bother me and I don't really feel it. I'm very familiar with the games as I'm old and grew up on them as well as having them on the Genesis still today. Totally get using it for Phantasy Star 4, I think I solved it the first week it came out and loved every minute of it. One of my top 5 games on the Genesis.
I love compilations, have about 95% of what's listed above. I have to say because I know it takes a lot of heat, the Sega Genesis collection has always played good for me? I hear people and believe they are getting horrible lag, but honestly I don't? With that said, it's basically the list above that has made the Switch my number one console of all time. I love being able to relieve all the classics in both handheld and docked on one machine. It's a match made in heaven.
If only Switch had voice chat... I'd start my match with Justin with a very fast vocal Parry, Parry, Parry, Parry, Parry.... Just kidding I watch most of his videos, I love that he has so much fun while being so frustrated.
EA's love of Nintendo and their consoles shines brightly with their stellar support of their systems over the years. EA's commitment to Nintendo is exemplified in...Ok..umm....ugh.. I just can't do it... Sorry, it's just....ok..I'm lying.
First it's wonderful to see the crazy price of the PS3 adjusted for inflation as it's the system that got me over Sony. I remember the interview where it was basically said "yeah, we know we don't have any games at all, but we can sell your kid an expensive system even if it means mowing more lawns all summer, and they are going to love it because Sony". Second, man am I loving retro games more all the time.
Unfortunate that volume 1 was such a "meh" at best. Would have been nice to have a larger collection of Metal Gear done right. At this point even if they release a knock out compilation it's always going to have a crap 1-3 sitting next to it.
Yes, it really does need this feature. I have shelves of games begging to be played at better frame rates. Heck I might even go back and finish Monster Hunter Stories 2.
Being someone who has been waiting for SNK compilations for a long long time... I think I'm gonna pass on these, they look to be about the worst selection of games they could possibly come up with.
Yet another way humanity on a whole kinda sucks. I'm all for locking up the cards in a case and then walked to front of the stores like games and electronics are currently. Buying online, I just wouldn't do it.
I'm sure it's just that I'm old, but I remember installing this game and after going through what I remember as a ton of menu's I simply uninstalled it. Can't remember exactly why, but it just seemed like there was way too much going on for an arcade racing game.
Sounds great, I followed the link and put the book in my cart, got back: "There was a delay with your digital downloads. You will receive an email shortly with your download links You will also receive an email with download links for your digital purchases."
No U.S. physical edition and I'm going to have to pass unless it's on sale for $9.99 or less. I already have it on Steam and Xbox, so getting it would only be for the switch collection.
I have the DS Legend of Starfy, always thought it was a pretty fun game. Looks like I'll be signing back up for NSO if they keep up releases like this.
True story, when I was young in the 70's and 80's we bought games and played them almost always from beginning to end with very little issue. Did they have bugs, sure some did, but you almost always could find an easy enough way around them. I miss games where when you buy it, that's what it is.

Not sure the comparison does much good without all the screens on. Beyond that what's the purpose of comparing to something like a clam shell GBA?
