Re: Nintendo's Share Price Drops Nearly 10% Following Price Hike Announcement

Cipher36

@jsty3105 That's a very fair analysis and most likely the reality. I was simply point out that there is a market for one. Heck a lot of people buy switches and don't like playing them in handheld. They just want the next Nintendo system to play their Nintendo games on. In this case as it would be much cheaper system to build, but not eat into game sales as the games would be compatible with both Switch and whatever you would call the Switch TV as named here. Regardless... I'd love it and have wanted a Nintendo console since the switch was released.

Re: Nintendo's Share Price Drops Nearly 10% Following Price Hike Announcement

@jsty3105 I would love a Switch TV, I'd use it side by side with my Switches. Why, because while I can dock my switches I don't really for a couple of reasons:
1. They run hotter, sometimes a lot hotter. And heat is the enemy of electronics. With a docked only model it would be much easier to build in a more efficient heat solution. Some might even say you could up the power a touch at no cost.
2. I love to have my switches in cases that don't fit in a dock and I hate having to remove the case just to play it on a tv.
3. Less hardware means cheaper to make and sell.
4. While I like having the option of docking my system, I'm much more of a handheld player. But if I could easily do it with the cross saves then I would much more often I'm sure.

I'd probably buy two right away, one for my living room and one for my office.

Re: Review: Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection (Switch 2) - Another Excellent Monstie Collecting Spin-Off

Cipher36

MHS is one of my favorite franchises so I'm getting it no matter what. With that said, MHS2 on the switch has such poor frame rate as to be almost unplayable at times. I waited until the Switch 2 came out to really dig in, where I put in roughly 130 hours to date. I really wish companies made games that ran well on the systems they are designed for and not well here it is, wait till next gen to really get the performance out of it that it deserves.

Re: Monster Hunter Stories 3 Launch Trailer, Save Data Unlocks And Free DLC Revealed

Cipher36

@Madao Almost kinda sorta agree. I have a no GKC policy unless it's one of a very small handful of games that I truly have to have, or I get it at on sale digital price. Ie... I will not buy an average game in the GKC format, but I'll still get them when they actually have a value based on the criteria above. I knew going into this generation I'll end up with 10 GKC's or less compared to the roughly four hundred and fifty games I have on the Switch 1.

Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite 3DS Model?

Cipher36

I've owned at least 4 3DS (Recently sold a day one). Currently have the 3DS XL Year of Luigi and a New 3DS XL Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. The MH4 Ultimate is my go to over anything I've owned.

Re: Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. Lands March Release Date On Switch 2

Cipher36

VF is at the top of my fighting games list, so this is a match made in heaven... Nevermind, it's a Game Key Card. Sadly I'm on the edge of dropping support of my Switch 2. Remember the good ole days when Nintendo said GKC's were an option, but not all games would be GKC's.... (Yeah, I didn't believe them either)... well here we are where pretty much all the 3rd party games are GKC's. This generation has been a colossal disappointment.

Re: GameStop Kicks Off 2026 By Reportedly Shutting "Hundreds" Of Stores

Cipher36

The +20% on trades means nothing when the trade value can go up and down day to day. Ie, a store near me closed and the coupon says I can get an extra 20% trade from 1/15 to 1/30. What's to stop Gamestop from reducing the trade value by 20% the day before and keeping it low during this period? So the feel good bonus could mean nothing, also as trade is based on inventory if everyone is trading at this time that would lower the value as they top off the inventory.

Re: Arcade Archives Celebrates 500 Retro Releases With Special Commemorative Game

Cipher36

I recently got the NEOGEO Selections Volume 9, and it has a day one download of 202mb.... of all 10 that have come out, I believe this is the only one that has a day one download... so, what's actually not on the cart? Whatever it is or isn't... it's an arcade archives cart, so you'd think they would have gotten it right before it went to print.

Re: Talking Point: Our 2026 Nintendo And Switch 2 Predictions

Cipher36

@Anti-Matter Totally agree, all the games I thought I would be excited to purchase kind of went....... meh. I have now purchased 2.5 Switch 2 machines and have yet to buy a Key Card. I'm simply not interested. Mind you I'm happy with my Switch 2 as it provides a great way to upscale my large collection of physical switch 1 games.

Re: Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Switch 1 & 2 Physical Release Does Not Include Mortal Kombat 4 On The Game Card

Cipher36

@ArcadeSixties
I disagree. I'm an adult and here are some facts:
1. I don't resell, so I really don't care how much something is worth. Hell, I have a $9k comic I found in a box that I now have sitting somewhere on a shelf, which I really don't care either way. I didn't buy it because I was investing, I bought it because I liked it and for that reason I keep it.
2. I enjoy physical media for the sake of physical media. Anything less and it's just not the same and defeats the purpose of owning anything at all.
3. I love to have a lot of games available to me at any given time. One of the things I hate most about modern gaming is "wait while this downloads".... I just want to play the damn game now, not tomorrow. Having to delete this to make room for that, download... oh wait there's a patch... Wait, now I want to play that game over there, delete this game, download that game...Oh wow, I'm at 3tb on my internet this month.
4. What's even worse than adults complaining about wanting what they pay for, people complaining about adults complaining about wanting what they pay for.
5. The reason MS and Sony get away with it... well, it's the reason I pretty much dropped them and went to Nintendo. They just followed suit with the crappy practice now. They were the last bastion of modern day physical media gaming that people like myself look for.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows' Beefy Switch 2 File Size Has Been Revealed

Cipher36

@ozwally While I don't disagree, I trust my ability to pick something up and actually do it without issue even more than I would trust others like DF. I don't need the weather man to tell me if it's snowing outside I'll simply look out the window, so Nintendo saying they "need" the faster transfer speeds doesn't make sense. More like, they would "like" the faster transfer speeds and not bothered by the consumer paying for it.

Re: Ongoing MicroSD Shortages Could Have A Knock-On Effect For Switch 2 Storage Availability

Cipher36

@Debo626 Honestly, other handhelds that are even more powerful and play games better don't even use EX cards, so really it does feel a little slimy when you add it all together.
1. New more expensive memory format
2. Higher priced games games in general
3. Almost no physical games sold, so you need that higher priced memory card to store their games.

So what do we get, we pay more for not owning anything, and then we pay a premium for the storage to put it on.
Yeah I get what that person was saying.
