@Frosty_09 I also thoroughly enjoyed Rise from the Ashes and Farewell, My Turnabout. With regards to Apollo Justice, there are certain aspects I truly love about it and by no means do I think that it's a bad game. As a matter of fact, I generally prefer Shu Takumi's work compared to the newer team.

I really enjoyed the dark, grittier, theme Apollo Justice had (but I'm not going to delve into details for the purpose of spoilers for people who haven't played it yet). AJ truly executed 'The Dark Age of the Law' much better than Dual Destinies did (one of my gripes with Dual Destinies was how it treated its audience like children—everything had to be explained completely to you, and 'Dark Age of Law' and 'yay friendship' would always just be shoved in your face).

With AJ, it really would've been much higher, but I feel Capcom just messed up. There was so much potential with it, and I feel like Capcom forcing Wright into the story and not letting Takumi have free reign really hurt the game, and you can tell Takumi had to do many things last minute.

The Ace Attorney series is easily one of my favourite video game series ever. My favourite memory without spoiling anything, would be just the entire Case 5 of Trials & Tribulations, simply of how it was a perfect culmination of one of the best trilogies ever, and had everything wrapped up perfectly (and especially the final moments of the case were some of my favourite moments in gaming ever). If I had to rank the games, this is how it would go (I'm still playing through Spirit of Justice, so I'll exclude it from here):

1. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials & Tribulations
2. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
3. Gyakuten Kenji 2/Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Miles Edgeworth: Prosecutor's Path
4. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies
5. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for All
6. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
7. Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth

Re: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice Begins Trial on 8th September

Chubblings

@wazlon You can download a fan translation version of the game online, which is pretty solid (I've played through it all). There was some discussion about the localisation of Investigations II a while ago, but it seems that Capcom has no plans to localise it (I recall them giving some poor excuse, such as 'the team that did it is no longer together', or something like that) in the future. Same goes for The Great Ace Attorney

Nonetheless, I am hugely looking forward to this game. Ace Attorney is by far one of my favourite franchises and despite some hiccups in a few, I've enjoyed them all. While Trials & Tribulations remains my favourite, I really did enjoy Dual Destinies a lot. Hopefully the new game is a bit more difficult though, as I felt Dual Destinies streamlined everything too much to the point where the game felt a bit too easy and too linear at times (yes I know, the games' structures will always be linear but I felt like past iterations gave you a greater sense of exploration—such as being able to literally examine everything and present everything to people [though that itself was more of a novelty, as it only gave special conversations]). Definitely hyped for the game, wasn't expecting it to come in early September (thought it would be later), and although I already know what I'm getting into, I will definitely download the demo so that I can get an early experience of the game (even if it is about 15 minutes or so).

Re: Talking Point: What Would You Like to See From Pokémon Sun and Moon?

Chubblings

At this point, I'd just like to see some footage of Sun and Moon...

Jokes aside, I'd like (as others have said) more mega evolutions, but not necessarily that many more Pokémon. I'd rather have a quality 40 or 50 Pokémon as opposed to 120, most of which are rushed. The whole point of difficulty being raised should definitely be done as an option. I too find the Pokémon games way too easy these days (referencing Gen VI in particular), but at the same time, recognise that Pokémon is a game for everyone (though this shouldn't necessarily give Nintendo an excuse to make the game ridiculously easy...after all, many of us did grow up playing the older 'more challenging' gens). Make difficulty an option right from the beginning to give players an option. Yes to a deeper story, because quite frankly, Gamefreak nailed it in Gen V with the stories, so I don't see why they can't do the same now. More post-game content as always. Side quests and missions are always a treat (I did like the 'Looker' mission in X & Y). Make the characters more than tropes...give them a sense of depth, especially the villains and the rival. Definitely more customisation for your character (this is always welcome). I'd also like for the HM's to be replaced entirely by abilities, much like how Soar essentially replaced 'Fly' in ORAS (and it was way better imo). Have items/abilities that allow you to do the HM functions without actually taking moveslots (keep the existing HM's as TM's if you want though—just they shouldn't be mandatory). I'd also like more 3D perspective gameplay (as currently it has a blend of top-down and somewhat 3D, but I'd like them to really take advantage of maybe N3DS hardware and have it be a 3D world entirely). 60fps for N3DS (30 for the old ones is fine). Lastly, PLEASE GIVE US MORE THAN ONE SAVE FILE. This has been something that I've wanted in Pokémon games for AGES. Restricting things to one save file is just such a pain and archaic, and in this day and age, it doesn't really make sense to (when the original R/B/G/Y came out, it was different, because it was a matter of space, and whatnot).

Re: Twilight Princess Developers Discuss the New Additions to the HD Edition

Chubblings

The game definitely blew me away with how beautiful it looked. The YouTube videos, etc. don't do it justice; the game does truly look 1000x better. I've also just enjoyed the little touches besides the textures, such as the added bloom, and in general the colours seem to e more vibrant. I've definitely enjoyed TPHD, even more so than the original.

Re: Poll: Vote for Your Favourite Legend of Zelda Games - 30th Anniversary Edition

Chubblings

SS=Oot>WW
Skyward Sword and Ocarina are both my favourites in the series by far, though I can't pick between the two, so they're equal. Wind Waker's pretty close, and had it not been rushed (and gotten the extra dungeon or so that was supposed to be in it), it might've surpassed the other two. Still, many of the Zelda games in this list (at least the ones I've played) are all fantastic in their own right.

Re: Video: Nintendo's Latest Fire Emblem Fates Presentation Focuses on Relationships and Classes

Chubblings

@Ralek85 Just for clarifications sake; what exactly do you mean by "recently" in regards to home console FE? The last home console Fire Emblem was Radiant Dawn, which came out in Europe in 2008 I believe (2007 everywhere else). That was about 7-8 years ago, so I was just wondering whether that, and Path of Radiance, were the "two recent homeconsole FE" you were referring to.

Re: Video: Nintendo's Latest Fire Emblem Fates Presentation Focuses on Relationships and Classes

Chubblings

Firstly, cue my obligatory complaining of a release date for PAL regions.

@Ralek85 I think I read somewhere in an interview, that the folks at IS also think Fire Emblem is definitely suited for home consoles, and they've wanted to make one for a while, but I think, due to lacklustre sales, Nintendo didn't let them (although if Fates does as well/better than Awakening, then I think we might end up seeing a home console FE finally)

Re: Video: Nintendo's Latest Story Trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Sets the Scene

Chubblings

TP is my least favourite 3D Zelda, but that's not saying anything bad, because all of the 3D Zeldas are fantastic.
It definitely has strengths, but if we're talking about complaints: the graphics were a bit eh, and I always felt the great art style of the game deserved better than SD resolution (hence why I'm partially excited for the remaster), and it just hasn't aged well (games like WW and SS on the other hand, still look good to this day). The slow start was kind of boring, and the story kind of fizzles out halfway through. Yes, we had a really large world, but I found it very barren and unexciting. The wolf idea was intriguing, but I just never got the full enjoyment out of it. And overall, the game was just too easy; dungeons, and combat alike. I feel like a lot of the love that TP gets, comes from it either being people whose first (3D) Zelda was TP, or people who LOVED Oot and get a nostalgic feel from it while playing TP.
That was a lot of negatives but don't get me wrong, I loved the game. Like I said the art style was great, the dark, eerie atmosphere was interesting, and Midna was truly developed to be a great character (no spoilers obviously). The dungeons, whilst easy, were fun nonetheless, and although the world was barren, it was enjoyable regardless to traverse through the massive world. TP, while has its flaws (mostly it being boring), is definitely a must-have for Zelda fans though.

Re: SEGA Reveals the Logo for Sonic the Hedgehog's 25th Anniversary

Chubblings

@Xenocity To be fair though, the Sonic Boom games were terrible...so you can't really fault fans for not buying bad games (and SEGA knows this). Having said that, Sonic games made by Sonic Team, have always performed reasonably well on Nintendo platforms (Boom was made by Big Red Button not Sonic Team), so I think SEGA might ignore the Boom fiasco and be willing to give the Wii U another shot with their main game next year.

@nintendouken "It truly is sad to think that all the Smash 4 buzz Nintendo has generated over the course of 2015 has reached its final destination."

I know that 'reaching a final destination' is an expression, but how coincidental that you happened to mention "Final Destination"... Joke intended?

Re: Linkle to be Considered for Future Legend of Zelda Titles

Chubblings

Personally, I'd Linkle in a spin-off (made by Nintendo) because it's far more interesting that she be her own character, than just 'Oh look, female Link'. A spin-off where we play as Linkle, her own character, would be much more interesting than just a generic gender swap for Link (and it would also allow for that Zelda experience to be more story-driven in regards to a character).

Re: You'll Now Be Able To Play Mini-Games During Loading Times

Chubblings

@Grumblevolcano Thing with Xenoblade X is, if you add up all of the data packs together, it's about 15GB. If the digital download for the whole game (which already has the data packs included) is around 22-23GB, then why the heck do you need to download so much for the physical copy?

Re: Feature: Our Top Wii U Games - Third Anniversary Edition

Chubblings

@VeeFlamesNL A sad truth of the industry today, is that games are much more expensive to develop, yet the prices of games hasn't accordingly risen, so that's why we see things such as DLC, and games not being complete at launch. I do agree, scoring really shouldn't be a thing, I think words should do it along with an overall recommendation, kind of how like GameXplain, Kotaku, etc. do reviews.

@abe_hikura I didn't know IGN re-reviewed it, so I just checked it out. I think they're complaining about voice chat too much. It is a thing to mention as a fault, yes, but lack of voice chat in no way ruins the game (as evidenced by its popularity). Nevertheless, IGN reviews tend to be all over the place (too much water, anyone), so I generally don't put too much faith in them.

Re: Feature: Our Top Wii U Games - Third Anniversary Edition

Chubblings

@VeeFlamesNL Nintendo really outdid themselves, it's a fantastic game, that is a breath of fresh air, not just amongst Nintendo games, but rather across the whole industry. Splatoon has truly been one of the best games of this generation. But on a side-note, the main complaints at launch from reviews were lack of content...but by now, I think that negative has been solved. Since all the add-ons were free and available to all, don't you think Splatoon should get a re-review?

Re: Review: Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash (Wii U)

Chubblings

It seems like the gameplay is solid, but the content is just too bare-bones, at least that's what I got from this review and the GameXplain one. Honestly charging full RRP for this is highway robbery. This should have been an e-Shop budget title, £15 would have easily been fair. There's no defending Nintendo on this one—it was a simple cash grab, understandable considering they have nothing else for the holidays (Xenoblade is fantastic, but it's a niche title that just doesn't have the casual appeal). At the very least, Nintendo could still market this and get a lot of money from the casual market, simply because of the Mario name.

In no way do I condone their actions (if that's what you got from the comment), and it is rather sad to see Nintendo doing this. At the very least, they could redeem themselves by supplying the game with constant free DLC adding contents and modes, à la Splatoon, but I don't see them really caring that much about it, as this was clearly something they knew was destined to be filler.

Re: Video: Watch Kids React To The Original Pokémon Anime Television Series

Chubblings

@VIIIAxel It's weird, I was talking about it with a bunch of my friends, who also watched it growing up, and we all agreed that Hoenn was the last good season, and Sinnoh was when it all went downhill. The games have always been fantastic, but I just wonder what happened in terms of production/writers/etc. that made the show go downhill in Sinnoh.

Re: Poll: The Tricky Issue of Retail Games as Download-Only Releases

Chubblings

Honestly, I like having physical copies, but I'd be perfectly Ok with a download only future. The problem is Nintendo just has a TERRIBLE digital infrastructure. The fact that games are tied to the hardware and not the system is RIDICULOUS (especially since the PS3 and 360 had account based systems and those were back in 2006-07). Also, Nintendo has awful pricing for digital games—just way too expensive. Having played on all platforms (PC, Sony's consoles, Microsoft consoles), if any of those three went download only, I wouldn't mind (in fact, disks are dying out on PC anyways), but Nintendo is in no position to move to retail downloads.

Re: Video: Eiji Aonuma Plays Dress-Up As He Shows Off The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes

Chubblings

I have so much respect for Anouma and his works, but Triforce Heroes just doesn't cut it for me (it's not my cup of tea, but if it's yours, then by all means go ahead and enjoy it). But I do have to admit after that demo, I can say that the music is still fantastic, and that jingle mini-game is so addicting (the one where you hit a ball-like object and you juggle it by slashing your sword, and so long as you juggle it, classic Zelda tunes play).

Re: Next Splatoon Patch Drops October 20th, Rapid Blaster Pro Arrives Tomorrow

Chubblings

Been so pleased with Splatoon since Day 1, and each update does really let it "stay fresh." Such updates really give me a reason to come back to Splatoon each week, and the best part is, this is all free (and not paid DLC). I'm aware that some of the earlier updates were timed unlocks, but that hasn't stopped other developers before from cutting things out from the main game and charging money for it.

Re: Talking Point: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD Would be No Surprise, as Nostalgia Rules for Nintendo

Chubblings

I'd love TP HD because the visuals of TP today can be a bit difficult to look at (mostly because its beautiful art style deserved better than the Wii's hardware). Wind Waker didn't need a remake IMO (a re-release on VC would have been fine) because the original still looked good (though I will say I LOVED Wind Waker HD). It should be a remaster of the Cube version though, as anyone can get the Wii version (while Cube one is a bit rarer).

Also with a remaster, there are some things they could add, such as Hero Mode (TP is the easiest 3D Zelda—it's nearly impossible to die in the game), more little quests on Hyrule Field to make it less barren (simple things such as, challenges, etc.), no loading screens (so entirely seamless gameplay), maybe make the intro to the game shorter, improve the wolf sections, etc. Personally TP is my least favourite 3D Zelda (though it is by no means a bad game), but I'd still be pumped for this. It's obvious that if TP HD is real, that it's a compensation for Zelda U coming out in 2016 as opposed to 2015.

The thing about remakes/re-releases (as seen on PS4/X1/WiiU) is that I wish Nintendo set up a "remaster studio" like Sony does, because then you know that these projects don't take away from developing new games.

Re: Video: Eiji Aonuma's Zelda: Tri Force Heroes Introduction Is Now Available In English

Chubblings

@rjejr I also remember how sure they both sounded, esp. Anouma. He was so confident, like "Zelda U will DEFINITELY be out in 2015". The fact that he was so confident back then leads me to think that something happened in development—perhaps dual NX release, maybe technical problems related to hardware, or maybe they wanted to add more to the game so it really is the definitive Zelda experience.

As for Star Fox though, I'm glad they're spending more time on it, but at the same time, delaying it by a few months won't exactly allow them to completely change anything; the final product will likely just be a more polished version of what we saw at E3.

But yeah, I've learned, NEVER trust Nintendo with release dates for games, until the game is literally out in stores.

Re: Video: This is How Single Player Works in The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes

Chubblings

I'm a massive Zelda fan, but I guess I'll have to skip this as single player doesn't look that good. Even the multiplayer itself doesn't look THAT amazing. First with Happy Home Designer, now with Triforce Heroes—A lot of this E3 line-up that was announced just hasn't felt that enticing to me (I would normally never skip a Zelda or Animal Crossing title). Don't get me wrong, there are still solid games that are coming, but overall I feel that Q4 2015 is one of the most disappointing in years (it's only just barely been saved by games like Super Mario Maker, Xenoblade X, etc.).
