I love the Splatoon developers. They really listen and fixed so many issues that the fans were complaining about.
Considering the fact they're somewhat giving some attention to the Battle Dojo, maybe we can get some more stages for it and maybe even a new mode in the future? Other than that, really loving the balancing in this update.
Yay, I'm glad they're making all of these adjustments. This will only make the game more fun! I'm curious to see all of the new stage adjustments. I wonder if it means small adjustments, or getting rid of some of those gray boxes that allow shortcuts to reach certain places you're not able to in some modes, like turf war. Either way, it will help make the game better, so I'm all for it!
Game less than $70? Nope so not getting it yet.
Wow. Love that Nintendo's really putting in effort to balance Splatoon.
Now can we get a Direct soon, Nintendo?
@ikki5 what country do you live in for it to be that much?
They adjusted almost every weapon... except the Gal and Aerospray weapons. If anything, those are the two kinds of weapons that need nerfing! ::
Quite happy with this update. Buffing my Splash-o-matic and nerfing those dang rollers and snipers.
@edgedino https://www.nintendolife.com/users/ikki5 - Canada
@copeland4 Aerosprays kind of suck, they're only good in turf war. Gals on the other hand are very good, but their main pillar (.96 Gal) lost a lot with the huge nerfing of the Kraken and the notorious Splash Walls.
@ikki5 $66.59 on Amazon.ca
@willobee
Yeah, there's no excuse now @ikki5.

It's below 70$.
Splatling needs more variants. TwT
@Iggly what is Battle Dojo? I've never tried it yet, my son is mad about Splatoon, he's (four), he's Level 33, higher than me lol. We have so much fun on 4 Vs. 4 Turf War we've not really tried anything else!
@ikki5 I really hope you can find it at the right price for you, I feel like you're missing out big time, all Wii U owners should try Splatoon! We absolutely love it, even my partner plays it, which is inkredible to me
I am ridiculously happy with the Roller change regarding splash damage.
Really wish they'd fix the issue of being splatted 2-5 seconds after you've already splatted the enemy... Suddenly dying after you've already splatted someone else is just... irritating.
I hope the splat o matic gets more power buff cause i get tons of hit markers and kids just be turning around and taking me out pretty annoying.
I don't want too many map layout changes, short cuts are good fun.
A modification I would want to happen is to the Splat Chargers, I'm quite sick of them - once they establish a good position you're basically screwed if you're using a roller and the game is at the point where you can't charge your weapon without going past them. Then there's the instances where they can get you from places that you should be safe from (Bluefin's two separate sides for example).
Moan over (for now).
Are Octolings really going to be a thing? Seems like the hack was a simple skin swap and nothing else. Lots of rumors lately going around with no substance backing them from Nintendo. Seems like slow news days and authors everywhere fishing for readers with all these rumors. Could be wrong but there's just so much going on right now I'm left to wonder.
When I eventually get around to buying Splatoon I think I'm going to have watch the longest update ever; there's been so much added since day one!
Been so pleased with Splatoon since Day 1, and each update does really let it "stay fresh." Such updates really give me a reason to come back to Splatoon each week, and the best part is, this is all free (and not paid DLC). I'm aware that some of the earlier updates were timed unlocks, but that hasn't stopped other developers before from cutting things out from the main game and charging money for it.
As long as they don't nerf the splattershot Jr, I'm good.
Did they fix the Octoling erasing your data glitch?
@ToneDeath - every weapon and new stage is announced in game as well.....you might as well plan on a few hours of pushing the A button
I anticipate exciting things on the horizon for Splatoon. Where there's smoke, there's fire.
Where there's ink, there are squids.
@edgedino probably Canada. I have a friend who lives there that complains about Splatoon's $70 price tag.
Just... don't mess with my Tentatek Splattershot, 'k Nintendo?! lol
Has the Octoling glitch been patched yet? I don't want to start playing again until that has been fixed! Don't want to lose my data!
@ikki5 you go to the wrong store then - they have it used for $40 at a local record store around here - and GS sells it for $60 - if you're paying more than $60 - then you're doing it wrong.
@DarthNocturnal And Mario Kart 8...
@MJKOP Tantatek took a hit actually - base damage down to 35 from 36. Still a 3-hit KO in most situations though.
This weekend's EU splatfest might have to be my fond farewell to the "OP" Luna Blaster after the blaster nerf that's coming. You don't see many blasters online, and now there'll be less reason to use one. Inkzooka's nerf is huge! It will fire at about half the rate if I understood the explanation. Double nerf for LB
Special Gauge charge for the leading team in Splatzone and the Tower controlling team is an interesting change. Seems like once you start dominating, it gets easier to win. Maybe.
I will need to try the roller to see if the change affects me.
If they cut out my skips in Arowana Mall I am done for.
Nuuuuu my splash walls!
Oh well, just means I have to get good and kill people faster when I throw it.
This is great bud I didn't realise half of those issues even existed!
The heavy splatling gun uses 10% less ink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wowza! That will help me even more. Actually they improved every single one of my favorite weapons.
This is the Wii U game that I currently play the most, so updates/new content are welcome.
It's a joke fine tuning the weapons. It doesn't matter when the Japanese players can still one-hit- KO you with a splattershot, carbon roller, n-zap, squelched, burst bomb, etc.
My biggest peeve is losing rank points with only three in your platoon or losing points after being disconnected before the match begins. Sure, give the team with an unfair advantage points for winning, like they will 95% of the time (although, my 3-man team won a rank match against a 4-man team and, it was glorious). Just don't deduct points from disadvantaged players for reasons beyond our control!!
I'm okay with the weapons the way they are
This is the most important update yet. Just about everything has been sorely needed, and now all of those completely unbalanced weapons will be a bit more regressed to the mean. Not everything was fixed (no region-specific servers, Rainmaker still exists), but this is excellent.
@MJKOP It's a local mode that is about popping balloons before your opponent. It's a decent mode, but I think it would be more fun on the newer maps since it only uses the first 5 maps Splatoon started with.
@Yoshi_Prime "Rainmaker still exists". I'm right there with you. What a mess of a mode....
I hope I can finally play online again!
@MJKOP Battle Dojo is one on screen, the other person on the gamepad. I have some little on's also (2, 5, & 9), they love the dojo. Usually I give the gamepad (due to motion controls simplicity) to the youngest in a match.
If on screen you can use a wii mote & nunchuck. But, the better option is a Wii Pro gamepad with a Wii mote strapped to it. Look this up on the Internet, it works well & was actually put in by Nintendo Devs.
The dojo is a nice break from turf wars & ranked. We'll usually spend most of our time trolling each other.
@TomKnows sounds good thank you for the reply, we'll check it out over the weekend, love the thought of playing Splatoon with my four year old son! Took him to the park today, he got himself on a high platform on the climbing frame and said 'Daddy, this would be a good camping place in Splatoon!' lol
@Gerbwmu "You're a kid now, Splatoon's updating now, you're an old man now..."
I'd love to see Nintendo revive their Game & Watch games as something to do while you're waiting for the NX to update (Splatoon lets you play simple games during loading screens, so I could see them expanding that idea across a whole OS). Mr. Game & Watch could even become something of a mascot, along with a tagline: "Don't just watch...Game!"
I'm surprised that the update won't be released until AFTER the European Splatfest! You'd think people would want the adjustments before a big event like this - as it is, this'll be the last chance to use all those sneaky shortcuts and OP weapons!
Nerfing splash wall and kraken to the ground but barely touching bubbler... Idiots.
@ikki5 funny i payed less than $60 at launch for it.
@ikki5 funny i payed less than $60 at launch for it.
@GLA By "playing chargers" I can only assume you mean playing against chargers, because anyone who has used them can tell you they have some crippling weaknesses. Well it's true that they are difficult to dislodge if they can create a solid lockdown, this only works with team support. It is imperative for a charger to stay well away from opponents' ink, because they are nearly helpless in close proximity. Consider their rate of fire; if someone gets in close and there is no time to charge, you are using a weapon with probably the worst rate of fire in the game. The E-liter and vanilla splat charger can somewhat mitigate this by throwing burst bombs or splat bombs and hoping for the best, but the kelp splat charger, custom E-liter, squiffers, and the bamboozler don't have this option and rely solely on uncharged shots. It's very difficult to win confrontations with uncharged shots, and you probably only have a chance against guns with wide variation in their shot arcs (i.e. ss jr. and aerosprays) or if your opponent has the aim of a blind grandmother. Something I'd also like to add is that it's difficult for a charger to actually hit someone if they are on a high platform and the opponent is right underneath, because of charger shots only dealing damage when shooting something directly in the line of sight (falling ink will do nothing). Conversely, every other gun shoots in an arc which will hit someone on a high perch. Lastly, I'm not sure what you mean when you say "they can get you from places that you should be safe from". Are you proposing they alter the guns' range for each map, put up invisible walls, or just sharing something that makes you salty?
@2xDair good answer. I had a little practice with it to find what I think would be its weaknesses, and can only echo some of what you've pointed out. Re the last point, in bluefin depot they really do dominate (I guess you need to stick with it and try new tactics when these deadlock-like situations occur).
Its good to hear that Nintendo is nerfing blasters and rollers but when are we going to get our major update Nintendo?!
@OrangeBird Rapid Blaster Pro is already out, but the larger balance patch comes out on Oct. 20.
It's a pointless suggestion but I love that the Splatfests are ran at night, itd be cool if they could add a day/night cycle and also an extra stage into the regular turf wars instead of just two would be awesome. Just curious to know...which stage is YOUR favourite?
Splat zones is still a reason not to play this game. It's far too easy to hold the area, and sometimes you have inked more than half but still the counter for the opposite team keeps counting down. And the spawn areas are too far from the zone for this mode to work. You spend precious time travelling between the spawn area and Splat zone, instead of actually fighting over turf. And who decided one area to control was a good idea? Players should be allowed to select which mode they want rather than being forced to play all of them.
Neo Splash-o-matic buff hype! I recently picked up the Squelchers and they're geting buffed as well. Today was a good day
@WordHunter When spawn is too far away from the target or area you should place Beacons in hidden areas so you can squid jump right back into the action safely. This saves me lots of time from just swimming back especially if your spotted while on way back by other team.
@ReshaSong. Thank you. Yes, good point. Though I still think that for splat zones to work the spawning time and distance to zone needs to be shortened.
@WordHunter Yea I kinda agree with spawning time being a little to long at times.
"Adjusted the splash damage. Players can only splat their opponents in one hit with the center of the roller"
THANK
FREAKING GOD.
now after the octoling save data issue is resolved, the game will actually be playable again.
