Re: Feature: Ahead Of Hyrule Warriors, We Take A Look Back At Koei Tecmo's Famous Musou Series

Chubblings

@Emblem Same here, I thought I was in a minority of how I loved the franchise. I suppose you're right that comparison isn't fair between the two games (I can just be skeptical at times for no reason). However, addressing the second part of your comment, is Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires really coming to the West in 2015!? 2015 is already a bad enough year for my wallet for games.

Re: Feature: Ahead Of Hyrule Warriors, We Take A Look Back At Koei Tecmo's Famous Musou Series

Chubblings

I've been playing Warriors Games since their beginning with the original Dynasty Warriors in 2002. Obviously, I grew in love with the series starting the second instalment of the franchise.
However, since then, I've played every single Dynasty Warriors (including Xtreme Legends and Empires), every single Samurai Warriors (again including Xtreme Legends and Empires), every Warriors Orochi, with every single piece of DLC. In fact, my hype right now is not on Hyrule Warriors, but rather Samurai Warriors 4 (which is coming to Playstation consoles on October 24 in Europe).
I won't deny that I'm a bit of a 'fanboy' of the Warriors games. Everything about the series simply makes me happy. I love the portrayal of the stories, which are told in such fascinating ways with its great characters, along with how the graphics improve along the years, and the depth of the gameplay (which can be a fun button masher on lower difficulties, and tactical game on higher difficulties) with its range of characters.
I love the Warriors series and I'm definitely looking forward to receiving Hyrule Warriors this Friday. However, I feel that Tecmo Koei is not putting as much effort into the game as they could. I played Dynasty, Samurai, and Warriors Orochi, and those games' rosters are much more vast and varied than Hyrule Warriors (granted DLC could fix this). Graphics department, I could care less when it comes to Warriors games, however, I do wish for Hyrule Warriors, they could have kept a consistent 30fps (as people who have played noted an inconsistent framerate while playing). I compare Hyrule Warriors to Samurai Warriors 4, and I can't help but feel they're putting more effort into Samurai Warriors.
My skepticism/cynicism aside, I overall just love the Warriors games. They may not be the most innovative series with yearly instalments, but they're always a reliable source for fun, and are a huge part of the reason why I bought a PS4 (to play all of the Warriors games). They're really just my guilty pleasure of gaming.

Re: Talking Point: The Super Smash Bros. 3DS Demo Has Been an Easy Triumph for Nintendo

Chubblings

Before Smash 3DS demo came to me, I was a bit skeptical of the game (I had preordered it anyway), but I was concerned regarding how poor the graphics were in screenshots, and whether the gameplay would work on such a tiny screen (even if it is an XL). Fortunately enough, the demo proved me otherwise, as the game ended up looking MUCH better, and dare I say beautiful with its visuals and of course 60fps framerate (which never dropped) in 3D. The gameplay also worked perfectly, so thus, even though I was going to purchase it regardless (because I trust Nintendo, Sakurai, et.), it's nice to know that the game was even better than I'd imagined. Funny enough, as fun as the 3DS version is, it's now acting as a hype builder to get the definitive, full-screen HD version (Wii U).

Re: Falcon and Yondu Join the Fight in Disney Infinity 2.0

Chubblings

I suppose you're right, but the reason I thought it would be a bad idea was, Disney recently had Deadpool make an appearance in their TV Show, Ultimate Spiderman, and it was awful (first of all Nolan North didn't do VA, which is weird considering he did Lego Marvel, and the jokes and everything were really watered down, although that could just be due to the show's bad writing as well). Believe me though, I also would love for Deadpool to be in DI 2.0, but if they do it, Nolan North better be voice acting.

Re: Video: Watch These Teenagers As They're Exposed To The NES

Chubblings

@rjejr These are all extremely valid and accurate points. Although I share your mindset in this situation, I can understand why everyone's getting so upset in the comments. Every user here on NintendoLife is a gamer (someone who plays games as a hobby), and thus the hobby of video games is something quite important to them (especially for those who are older). Because of this, they end up feeling a bit offended as they feel as if their hobby is being personally attacked (Not going to lie, "The Legend of Who" and "I have that as an iPhone case" nearly got me).

Darn...I saw the title of the article and thought that it was an announcement of N64 games on Wii U VC. Oh well, it was unrealistic expectations on my part.

Re: Miyamoto States That Nintendo Is Sticking With "Revolutionary" Hardware For The Foreseeable Future

Chubblings

This would make Nintendo dominate next-gen (since PS4/X1/U is current gen):
-Do whatever revolutionary thing you want (Like Wii-Mote, Gamepad, e.t).
-Make the hardware on-par/better than PS5/Xbox Two and use dev-friendly architecture that makes it easy to port games from PC.
-Put in effort to make good relationships with 3rd parties, so that the console has full 3rd party support.
-Keep those awesome 1st party games.
-Market the console properly (like it was in Wii-era).

Re: Super Smash Bros. Seizes Gamescom Most Wanted Consumer Award

Chubblings

I was going to buy Smash 4 Wii U with it being my first Smash game. I skipped the Wii and Gamecube (and I missed out on it for N64 because I wasn't sure if it would be good). Unfortunately for my wallet, I'll have to double dip and buy the 3DS version as well, because Nintendo Store UK has a bundle deal where you get Smash 4 3DS, a special Smash T-Shirt, and Wristband for £40 (and the game's normal price will probably be £35-£40) and I'm a sucker for preorder bonuses.

Re: New Hyrule Warriors Playable Character to be Announced This Week

Chubblings

@sinalefa If they put that mean Goron in, what'll probably happen is that as soon as you unlock him, your Hyrule Warriors data gets deleted.

@MixMasterMudkip Yeah, I've been wanting Groose for a while. With all this Twilight Princess love, don't forget Skyward Sword either. Besides, Groose would definitely make sense (being in the Knights Academy). I hope if they put Groose in, his awesome theme goes in as well. And don't forget dat pompadour...never forget it..

Re: Poll: Which Is The Best Legend Of Zelda Game?

Chubblings

@JaxonH That's the mindset that gamers should be having. Because at the end of the day, when you become so nitpicky, making big complaints out of everything, you're forgetting why you're actually playing a game, to have fun.
On a side Zelda note, the link I've put below shows an image regarding the 'hardcore' Zelda fanbase cycle that was created before Skyward Sword was released, and was actually pretty accurate with their reactions at release:

Re: Poll: Which Is The Best Legend Of Zelda Game?

Chubblings

@JaxonH I think you'll enjoy Skyward Sword I don't know if it'll be your favorite (it is my favorite one), but you'll definitely enjoy it. The game gets hated a lot amongst the hardcore Zelda community because it was the newest Zelda game (Zelda cycle). However, many of the complaints are very exaggerated, thus do not believe all the negativity regarding the game. The motion controls, something that was complained about, function properly if you correctly calibrate them. As a matter of fact, they work extremely well, helping make the combat a more interesting affair (it's more than just the waggling seen in Twilight Princess). They really were the definitive controls for a Zelda game for me (so when I was playing Wind Waker HD it felt odd going back to buttons). Graphically, the game pushes the Wii to it's limits and looks incredible. This is due to its impressionist art style, which makes the game look like a beautiful painting set in motion. The story, whilst simple, is very emotional and heart-touching. All of the NPC's and main characters are interesting and motivate you to speak to them or complete whatever side-quest is related with them. The dungeons are all really enjoyable and great, and their new approach to the dungeon design is fresh. Boss fights continue to be easy, yet creative and fun. A notable complaint about the game is its linearity. Unlike Twilight Princess, there is not huge pieces of lands to explore. However, the lands that you do explore, are not as barren as Twilight Princess, and there's many things to do in these lands. I apologize for my long comment, but my intended purpose is that you should definitely finish Skyward Sword and not skip it, as I feel, it is something that once you complete, you won't regret. I don't know how far you are in the game, but if you are early in the game, then you should definitely finish it, as it gets better as you progress. Once you finish the whole game and see everything, it truly is amazing.

Re: New Official Hyrule Warriors Screens Show Off Fi, Ghirahim, Skyward Sword Stages and More

Chubblings

@shigulicious Even though this does not necessarily confirm all the villains that I mentioned, it is probable that they will be. As I said before, in past Warriors games, any sort of non-generic special character has been playable. Furthermore, making these characters playable would expand the roster, which so far, is good, but very small. Warriors games have had a history of large rosters. However, it is also possible that they may not be playable, as in the E3 Demo for Hyrule Warriors, while it only lets you pick between Link and Zelda, the character selection has a total of 9 slots (including Link and Zelda). That would mean that 7 out of the 9 characters would have been confirmed. Personally, I'm hoping that the roster I wrote out , is the final roster for the game, as those are all characters who appear in the game.

Re: New Official Hyrule Warriors Screens Show Off Fi, Ghirahim, Skyward Sword Stages and More

Chubblings

So lets see the playable characters so far for Hyrule Warriors:

-Link
-Zelda
-Impa
-Midna
-Agitha
-Fi
-Ganon/Ganondorf (I believe Ganon was teased in the E3 Trailer)
-Ghirahim
-Lana
-Cia
-Wizro
-Valga

I know the villains in the game will be playable because in both Dynasty and Samurai Warriors, you have always been able to play as any special, non generic warrior. A better example being Warriors Orochi games, where you can unlock and play as Orochi, Da Ji, e.c.t.
If you can't play as any of the villains, then it'll be extremely disappointing as Warriors Games normally have massive rosters, and even with my list, the roster is still small compared to a normal Warriors game. So this list should not really be cut, as these are all the special characters appearing in the game so far.

Re: Video: You Really Don't Want To Know What Kids These Days Think Of The Game Boy

Chubblings

I have a 13 year old cousin who's been growing up with Sony consoles, and he knew what a Gameboy was when he was 5 (granted he was introduced to games at the age of 2). It's not necessarily that you have to grow up with the device, because I didn't grow up with the Gameboy, but I certainly knew about it. Same with how I didn't grow up with the NES or the Atari 2600, or all the other consoles before it. Nevertheless, you do have to understand that these are children who play only on Smartphones, with only a few of them having played on the DS. None of the people in the video really played video games as a hobby. Majority of them use it as a timekiller with the Apps on Smartphones and tablets. The only video game systems I heard mentioned were Wii or DS, which pretty much everyone has.

Re: Video: Impa Shows Off Some Deadly Moves in the Latest Hyrule Warriors Trailer

Chubblings

Impa's attacks seem like almost a mix between Guan Ping and Zhou Tai, if that makes any sense. Or she might attack like Sakon Shima. Regardless, it looks like she (along with the rest of the roster that's been shown) will be extremely fun to play with. I'm extremely excited about this game, and I have for a while. There was no reason for me to be skeptical, as I've always loved and appreciated Warriors Games and Zelda. Although it still irritates me that people think Warriors Games are only button mashers. To those people, I say, don't play on Easy or Normal, play on Hard or higher and see how mindless it is.

Re: Guide: The Biggest Wii U and 3DS Retail Games Coming In 2014

Chubblings

@aaronsullivan For Hyrule Warriors, you may need to take reviews with a pinch of salt. Aside from Japanese reviews, the Warriors games have always gotten bad reviews in the West, even if the games are good. So if you have PS3/360, I suggest picking up Dynasty Warriors 8, and see what you think of it.

Re: Nintendo's E3 Plans Are Outlined Further, With Nintendo Minute to Follow Digital Event

Chubblings

This seems like a big step up from 2013, and I don't really mind that it's not a live conference, aside from the fact if Zelda U is announced, as that would be more special, live. Overall though, it seems a lot more structured and more appealing, simply because they have a lot of potential good content that they can show (as well as the surprise game). Hopefully, the stream runs better than it did last year.

Re: Mario Kart Month: What Mario Kart Means To Me

Chubblings

@Andremario They couldn't believe their eyes. It was the first time that they had seen so many vivid colors, so much "kiddiness", so much fun...and they liked it. BTW, I'm not insulting anyone who likes COD, I'm referencing the "hardcores" who play only COD, think it's the best, and everything else sucks.

Re: Mario Kart Month: What Mario Kart Means To Me

Chubblings

Well just a few weeks ago, I had another MK moment. It was about 40 students including myself, on a long trip to France from UK. My friend and I were the only people who had played video games on our bus (our bus ride was also 12 hours). Everyone else were people who had either never played video games, or part of your standard COD, Fifa casual market. So my friend and I had each brought our Mario Kart DS cartridges, and we played against each other in races. It didn't take long for time to pass. But soon after we started playing, everyone started paying attention to our races, and everyone asked if they could play Mario Kart each. Everyone on the bus 'took turns' for playing Mario Kart, and those 12 hours went by fast.

Re: Mario Kart TV Web App Goes Live

Chubblings

I've seen the videos from MKTV on YouTube, and the quality is good. Mind you not as good as a capture card quality, but still really good (especially since this is free, and Wii U capture card is expensive).

Re: LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Looks Out of This World

Chubblings

@memoryman3 I understand that graphics is not a primary concern for a console, but I feel the Wii U could have at least been a bit more powerful. Because although power doesn't make a console good, lack of power does eventually lead to lack of games. Granted, I'll be playing Arkham Knight anyway on PS4, but not everyone can afford multiple consoles, so it's sad to see that people will be missing out on this one.

Re: Video: These Mario Kart 8 Players Are Getting Rather Immersed in the Experience

Chubblings

@Mahe Obviously it won't compare to the 30+million sold from MKWii, but Nintendo already announced that the Wii U is now profitable for them. Advertising MK8 for Wii U won't get them to Wii sales numbers, but it'll still be a profitable affair. I know many people who are buying a Wii U for Mario Kart (and Smash Bros), so if advertised well, it could still print money (not as much money as the Wii though).

Re: LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Looks Out of This World

Chubblings

@memoryman3 If optimized, the Wii U would be able to run UE4. Nevertheless, the main reason why Arkham Knight isn't coming on Wii U, is simply because Rocksteady would have to put so much effort to optimize it for Wii U (because of its non dev friendly architecture), only for it to sell badly as well. While I do buy third party games, most Nintendo fans don't. Thus releasing Arkham Knight on Wii U is a bad business decision.

Re: Poll: A Tale of Two Blockbusters as Mario Kart 8 and Watch Dogs Arrive This Week

Chubblings

I've played Watch Dogs for several hours now on PC, and have come to a verdict. Great open-world, immersive gameplay, endless possibilities, you don't really even have to use guns, you can go through entire sections through hacking alone. Only complaints, are the awful arcade-style driving, and just how screwed up it is on PC. Anyone who has a PC, DO NOT GET WATCH DOGS ON PC. At least not until they patch it. It is so messed up, on all options, whether low settings or ultra, the game is screwed up (and I have a high-end PC, Nvidia GTX 780, 16GB RAM, intel core i7, e.t). Awful, inconsistent framerate. Not sure about console versions though. To be honest, I've been much more pumped about Mario Kart 8 though. I am awaiting the hundreds of inevitable hours to be spent on there.

Re: Here Are Plenty of Lovely Hyrule Warriors Screenshots at Which to Gawk

Chubblings

I was excited about this game from Day 1, but the hype is killing me. LIke @Hy8ogen said, this is up there with Smash Bros and X for me, as I'm a huge Zelda AND Dynasty Warriors fan (have bought all Warriors games and DLC's). I'm not sure about the screenshots. If they're real in-game shots, they're gorgeous, and make amazing use of Wii U's hardware. However, they do look doctored/on PC. This is not something that Koei would only do, because loads of other companies do this as well, it's done for marketing purposes (to make people think, wow, that looks good).

Re: NPD Q1 Spend Shows 1% Drop Despite Substantial Hardware Boost

Chubblings

I don't mean to sound harsh, rude, or inconsiderate, but games can't really be any cheaper. People talk about financial problems, but games are also becoming more and more expensive to develop. Developers can't just make games cheaper, at the end of the day, they need to make money too. Unfortunately, people, gaming is an expensive habit; always has been, always will be.
