For those of you that watched the Nintendo Direct, you probably remember the humourous short that advertised Yo-Kai Watch. Bill Trinen arrived to a meeting early, where he was soon influenced by Hungramps and subsequently stuffed his face with donuts. If nothing else, it was an amusing skit and it did a great job of showing the fun side of these Nintendo executives.
It appears that there was more to the meeting, as a new video was recently posted that's being dubbed as "Part 2". This time around, Tattletell takes over both Reggie and Bill and makes them blurt out how they really feel about things. Check it out:
What do you think? Do you appreciate it when Nintendo does shorts like these? What did you think of Yo-Kai Watch? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Meh.
Too bad they didn't show the extended cut.
The one where Reggie just says outright: "You know what? SCREW all those Earthbound fans. Mother 3? More like "Never 3.", amirite? Haha. Buncha hipsters, the lot of them. Also, hey Bill... let's just delete ALL the Youtube videos of our games. Just delete all of them. They don't have the right to their own videos, editing, fanbases, subscribers, and community. We own those people and their entire lives, anyway. We can do whatever we want as long as it's our games they're playing? Let's start up some frivolous lawsuits that they can't pay for and just ruin them where they stand. Fair Use? Pfft. Please. An outdated concept for fools.
Also, let's ruin everyone's Christmas while we're at it. Are we still on track for withholding any development this year on any titles for the end of the year? Good, good. We'll show everyone the superiority of our brand by switching focus to Plastic Happy Meal Toys with dime-store in-game DLC attached, and bottom-tier moble game, micro-transaction riddled money vacuums, and going after our own fanbase on Youtube with all of the draconian subtlety of a Nazi Gestapo.
Finally, that NX prototype with no disc-based acces or third-party support and an obligatory super expensive series of vacuum-cleaner attachment-like forced gimmicks for an inflated price with virtually no decent launch titles? Delay that for about 4 and a half more years past the point where it'll already be relevant by the time it releases."
Man, people seem to be taking this just a bit too harshly. Sure, Nintendo's had its mess-ups, but does it really matter? This is a bit of fun and I, for one, enjoy seeing Reggie and Bill having a good time like this. I may not like Yo-Kai Watch, but these videos are funny, if nothing else! We don't need to be so serious all the time.
I didn't know people reacted so strongly to these videos. I thought they were light-hearted, and a good bit of fun, which is what Nintendo is all about.
Since I watched the Europe direct, I would have loved to have a bit of comedy in it. It did a good job at showing the required information, but really needed a lighthearted segment like this.
No "Beeeeeeeeel!!!!!!"? Aw.
Wow. Seriously? What's wrong with the occasional skit? It feels like people are pretty much troll posting here; the posts have little value and they're spouting anger for the sake of it?
@CrazedCavalier
it's the rule of extremes I suppose. the only people who will comment are people who either really hated it or really liked it... and it's very likely that no one really liked it... so the people who were okay with it have nothing to say, except maybe "meh".
but also... these reaction posts... are we all seeing the same comments? I see 2 negative comments... I mean, yeah, people is plural of person... but then again, there is persons? anyway, but 2 persons is hardly people.
@inverse Is that it? You didn't even bring up the Virtual Console...
Pretty amusing. I like these short little humor sketches. It's what helps set Nintendo apart.
@inverse Haha, bravo sir!
@crimsontadpoles Yeah the EU direct was lame in comparison, it was like an afterthought.
Bill. Bill! Bill!! BILL!!
@invictus4000 Best part from Direct. ahahahahah
I always enjoy little lighthearted attempts at humor.
That comedy sketch was a high point of the Direct for me. What's wrong with doing something lighthearted to get some enjoyment out of what must often be a stressful job? Most of the reactions on YouTube to the original clip seem pretty positive.
Also, we got to hear Reggie go soprano.
In comparison, this clip is a little meh. I suppose you can't get too insult-happy in a video aimed primarily at family audiences. X3
This is a fun little ad. Hopefully if it runs on TV or something it'll have the first one to go along with it.
That said, the music right at the end... Did it sound to anyone else just a little bit like it came right out of Banjo-Kazooie? It seemed oddly reminiscent of the spooky manor level...
One of these days I'll read a Nintendo Life article without grammar errors. One of these days...
Personally, I like the creativity on how Nintendo is marketing this game to the west. The Yo-kai segment in the direct wasn't the best thing ever, but I like how Nintendo's own staff is willing to perform humorous skits for these kinds of things.
For example Nintendo's E3 conference wasn't that good this year, but the muppet segments kept me interested until the end. So at least it wasn't a huge bore like EA's conference.
@inverse Mother 3 is definitely coming to the West. Amiibo's are much higher quality than McDonalds toys and allow for things like a Yoshi dressed up as Ganon or Pac Man in a Mario game, along with content like Smash's ability for customized fighters that you can easily transfer between different Copies.
The first one was the best part of the Direct, which was a good one overall. This one isn't as good but it's still fine.
@inverse Lol. The vacuum-cleaner attachment bit was hilarious.
@RainbowGazelle You said you'd moved on to a new, better Nintendo site. Presumably, one without grammar errors. Has it closed down in the week or so since you posted that?
@Trinexx Love your avatar! Hahahahahahahahaha
"Bill, did you cry when you got that haircut?" haha. I'm going to use that on someone.
@Maxz Nah, they've pretty much all got grammar errors. It always just irritates me when writers don't know things such as it should always be "people who" in a sentence, never "people that", when they're paid to be a writer.
Also, I'm an overreacting jerk. There aren't many better Nintendo sites than this one. I just wish European news wouldn't get overlooked so much on the internet in general, and just took it out on this site, mainly because NLife is meant to cater to European fans as well, but they didn't after the Direct.
@ericthecheese: Bwaha, thanks! Like I mentioned above, it was a highlight of the Direct for me.
Lets just hope that when they gave their honest opinion in the video that it wasn't being recorded for a podcast...
@RainbowGazelle Aah, well, I appreciate your openness!
I'd also like to point out that in being someone that cannot tolerate this line of writing (despite being someone who can tolerate this one perfectly well), you're picking fights with some pretty big names in literature.
Perhaps none more so than a Mr. William Shakespeare, who in Act V of The Merchant of Venice, writes:
"The man that hath no music in himself,
Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,
Is fit for treasons, stategems, and spoils.
The motions of his spirit are dull as night,
And his affections dark as Erebus."
Shockingly, I believe that Mr. Shakespeare was even payed to write such grammatically deficient drivel.
(Mercifully, he never stooped so low as to use emoticons in his work. Forgive me for not doing the same)
@Maxz Damn Shakespeare. What a hack. xD
@RainbowGazelle He always throws a spanner in the works, that guy.
I think I'm generally more inclined to use 'who' for humans, at least in written language, but there are cases where I might prefer 'that'. Sometimes for its sound and rhythm, more than its meaning; "The man that hath..." has a lovely assonance that "The man who hath..." would lack (or if you prefer, "The man that hath..." has a lovely assonance WHICH "The man who hath..." would lack).
I also believe there's a subtle difference in emphasis between the two words. To my ears, "The man who..." places more focus on the man himself, whereas "The man that..." places more focus on the following quality or action. I don't know of any sources that support this point though, so it may be disregarded.
There's an interesting Wikipedia page on the whole business (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_relative_clauses), if you can accept such a website as a credible source of information. If you don't fancy reading an infinite wall of text, skip down to 'Variables in the basic relative clause'. The chart in 'Summary' is also worth a look.
@RainbowGazelle Anyway, what I'm saying is, you should probably cut @MitchVogel some slack. At least, until you've managed to fully discredit Shakespeare as a writer.
"Who" is exclusively for humans (or non-human sapient beings), "Which" is exclusively for objects (though it was more flexible in the past — the hymn Holy, Holy, Holy uses "which wert and art and evermore shalt be" to refer to God), and "That" can be used for either.
Dem PG insults tho.
@inverse Ha ha ha
@Adamario Damn straight.
I thought it was amusing. Not quite as good as Super Smash Managers Brawl, the Muppet Skit or Reggie Fils-a-mech, but cute.
I loved when Reggie was like "BILL!!!" I was crying a little bit.
@mjc0961
I didn't realize that sketch was supposed to be an ad for Yo-Kai Watch until you said so in this article, that's how large a waste of time that was
So I guess you missed the massive splash screen reading "Yokai Watch" with a picture of the game box.
tbh, I kinda like seeing these cringe worthy Nintendo skits xD It's so absolutely cheesy and has such bad acting that it's kinda enjoyable.
