Oh boy, by requesting a ban of all imports into the US...are they implying every Switch owner was a potential game vice consumer??? 😆. In other words, a lost sale. “Gee, I was gonna buy a game vice but this other, similiar device, called the Nintendo Switch (Have you heard of it??) caught my eye so I bought it instead.”
Just got this a week ago. I finally figured it out, lol. I was punching with elbows at my side and couldn’t connect. I finally raised my fists higher to align them with my line-of-sight and started aiming at the opponent on the screen rather than just punching air. I’m really impressed with the accuracy of the motion controls and how natural it feels. Really cool, it takes some self-discipline to coordinate yourself and gives quite a workout. I still need more discipline and control when it comes to blocking. I keep imputing the wrong gesture inadvertently and getting left wide open during an opponents special pops off.
A little off topic, but whatever happened to that twin-stick shooter that has been coming soon to wiiu for the past few years? It's useless if I can't remember the title, but it looked like the playable characters were cyborg like school girls or something. It was bright and colorful.
@Joelols It's a two-way street, though. Why limit the game if they're looking to make in roads into the Nintendo base. This game will likely appeal to the Nintendo player who spent countless hours playing Splatoon. Gyro-aiming is a big deal, twin stick aiming feels antiquated by comparison. Federation Force demonstrated it can be done on portables as well. Besides, it's business. I doubt 3rd parties are evaluating which fan bases are more deserving of their precious game. It's simple, as long as Switch sales are strong, 3rd parties will take a chance on Nintendo.
Biggest highlight of E3 for me. Wiiu is dead-and I don't know when I'll get a switch-so this was a pleasant surprise. I hope nintendo keeps the 3DS going and give it a good 10 year run when its all said and done (like the original game boy). I'm still in awe of 3d gaming and will miss it when it's gone. Maybe they'll continue outsourcing 3ds first party titles to keep internal resources focused on Switch, but keep a veteran nintendo guy steering the ship on these partnerships. Could be interesting...or we get Other M again, lol. Don't care what anyone says but Federation Force was pure awesome. Such a shame a$$holes at large killed it months before it released.
Either Sony paid them just enough to keep quiet until E3 is over, or they broke the bank to ban any new monster hunter game from releasing on a nintendo platform at all.
Love Yoshi games. I wish they would incorporate the level structure like Yoshi Story. Really adds a lot of depth to a 2D platformera. I liked the idea of no set finish line for the levels.
So....2022 release date?? It seems there is always at least one game announced at a consoles first official E3 that gets put through development purgatory and sometimes never sees the light of day. I hope this is not it, but the whole, "hey, we've got a logo but no game" isn't promising. My only hope is it comes out on the switch and not its successor, lol.
Not sure how I feel about the franchise. If they have creative freedom to steer the game however they see fit then I have confidence in Wayforward. Haven't played too many of their games - including shantae. But Contra 4 and Alien: Infestation were brilliant, although I felt alien ended a little too soon.
This is the game that got me excited about nintendo again (well, this and skyward sword). I was pretty distant from video games for a few years - I was a late adopter of the wii. But, uprising gave me rejuvenated faith in the art of video games. I would love sequel...on the 3DS. Sorry, but I think the dual-screen functionality and glasses-free 3-D help make it the special video game it became. I'm holding out hope for a true 3DS successor.
@Jaded_Drybones The least they could do is have cross-platform releases of some of the switch games like Splatoon 2 and others suited for the wiiu, till at least the end of 2017.
Playing it on wiiu and it looks and plays great. My complaint is the lack of a second screen for map/inventory. I guess they wanted parity. It's a lonely world for us wiiu fans (not many of us left). I will pick up a Switch sometime in 2017 (Splatoon 2 will push me over the edge, likely). But feel it should be released on wiiu as well. Why not? It's the franchise wiiu will likely be remembered by.
@cleveland124 I can't even get past the third level with save states. Saved states have been a welcomed addition to the older games, although I feel a little guilty sometimes using it as liberally as I do in some games, such as Yoshi's Story. And I still can't get all 20 melons on some of the stages, lol.
3000 hours doesn't seem very long considering all the RPGs on the NES. Then again, some NES games can be completed under a half-hour. Did he even bother with the edutainment games? Like Sesame Street?
Wow, the handful of snarky comments about Kojima have sparked an overwhelming response from people disgusted with the entire Nintendo fan base. By the 30th comment of people complaining about people complaining I forgot about the people complaining about Kojima. (Sigh) yet, here I am complaining about people complaining about people who complained about Kojima. The work we live in these days.
I was anticipating this one for wiiu. What's with poor management in game developing? Why even announce a game for a platform if you're not certain it'll happen? Doesn't make any sense to me. It seems to happen a lot.
Weird...I have to give him respect if he can make Sin and Punishment 2 onto top 40 radio. That would just be too incredibly strange but fascinating. I'm also surprised by his gaming choice - I would've thought he was a 'mature' gamer focused on guns, violence and stilted dialog.
I'm looking forward to ghost in the shell. Don't get me wrong - Scarjo has a beautiful face and great figure but, I don't know, she just seems too short to play major. Seems nit-picky, but it stands out in the scenes shown in the preview where they try to replicate the anime frame for frame. Particularly the beginning scene where she crashes through the window and somersaults through the room shooting everybody. Still looking forward to it.
@ThanosReXXX sorry if it seemed I was venting towards you. I am just trying to understand why nintendo hasn't figured out this whole localization thing yet. It just seems irresponsible for it to be the reason for the delay considering its suppose to align with the launch of the switch. It would be a failure of execution and could hurt the early momentum of the switch. Surely, Nintendo has to be aware of the buzz a launch-day Zelda generates.
@ThanosReXXX they should have been working on localization for years now. Zelda's main market is in the west and has been for several years now. This isn't some project that I would expect to be under financial constraints for western localization like an Atlus game or something where a western release isn't certain.
@onlyonemello definitely interesting. I imagine fire emblem has way more nuanced text then Zelda with all the playable characters and their relationships. Still, seems a little ridiculous for it to be the reason for a delay. I wonder how much communication there is between Japan and US/EU throughout the development to give them a head start - localize as the game is being developed. The impression they seem to give is Japan works under a cloak of mystery and when it's finished they send it off for localization to figure out the game. Terrible decision if true especially considering English speaking countries make up the largest markets for Nintendo games and especially Zelda. I'm not saying they should be influenced by western culture, but maybe have a westerner on staff in Japan during development essentially being a fly on the wall to start drafting out the localization as development progresses. Would definitely improve efficiency and game turnaround.
I've received every nintendo console as a Christmas gift from NES to WIIU-from age 7 (Xmas '89) to age 30 (Xmas '12). I'm just as excited every time, lol.
With Trumps planned tariffs, the switch will go for about $800 and software about $120 in the US. Similar increase in a post-brexit UK (whenever the hell it actually happens).
Never tried it. I'll add to my list of wii games to download when I buy a new SD card! I wish these wii games were prices a little lower to make up for the cost of necessary external storage due to the very limited internal storage.
I missed the times when there were arcades in every shopping mall and a couple of machines at just about every gas station. I also missed wondering when home consoles would be able to achieve the graphics seen at the arcades.
Those are pretty cool. I'm hoping the customization goes a step further and even changes the inputs based on the game. Like some may have a touch pad, extra buttons, analog placement, etc.
Best button-masher of all time. I had no Idea how I was able to pull off 50-hit combos, but I did! My 12 year old self always wished the fighter with the big boobs would turn around after her celebratory flash.
Yeaaah, we'll support it till about April 2017. I'm afraid we know about every game that will exist for the 3DS. I wish they would continue supporting the wiiu by porting the big first party switch titles through at least 2018. But I doubt it
It seems silly to read too much into the reveal/commercial. Companies use attractive young adults to market all sorts of crap. The target audience is everyone. Little kids love Mario as much as 30+ year olds. It just needs an attractive price and strong presence.
I like the famicom color scheme. I saw somewhere a conceptual take on special joy-cons released specifically with games. That seems interesting - developers can essentially develop customized controller for their specific game
@AlexOlney Like with every other console. It's success will be determined based on value. If they can retail it for $199, I think it could be successful. Maybe still at $249. But $299 and above may be tough sledding for Nintendo. As a lifelong nintendo enthusiast, I have mixed feelings based on the reveal, but $199 would be an automatic purchase for me. $349 for the wiiu was obviously self-destructive for nintendo - I think they've learned and cleverly compensated the expensive cost of the tablet by actually making it the console itself, unlike the wiiu with a seperate console and expensive peripheral.
@GraveLordXD We are on other ends of the spectrum, I guess. However, like yourself - I've owned every Nintendo system since xmas '87 (portable too, even a brief stint with the virtual boy) and have come to appreciate Nintendo's rogue path. I thought the gamecube was uninspiring and was highly doubtful of the wii, but it eventually won me over. I'm just doubtful right now until we see more and saddened by the loss of the features I felt were evolving into true marvels of gaming. My worse fear is this is just a portable gamecube. Maybe it's time I take a break from gaming.
