@impurekind nice comment. I've owned just about every piece of Nintendo hardware since in 1987 and the switch does nothing for me. I think they've got an even worse disaster on their hands than the wiiu (which I love btw) - meaning market share. It's basically a wiiu with less features. I guess it may do well in Japan. I just don't understand the supposed hype.
@GraveLordXD Really?!? Playing with tiny micro controllers and the 'take it on the go' seem like textbook gimmicks to me. Motion controls and dual screen gaming were true innovations. Splatoon is the perfect execution of combining motion control, dual screen, and touch gameplay. Pure genius and very progressive. I just fear they're going back to the clunky dual analog control of yesteryears. Suddenly playing splatoon will feel like controlling a turret on a tank.
The more I watch the reveal the more worred I become. It seems like a step backwards for nintendo. Yeah, okay the mobility is the innovation here but the variety of gameplay that wii/wiiu and 3DS explored all seem pretty compromised. Will it have gyro? Dual screen gaming? Hell, touchscreen? I'm actually extremely worried that, in the end, it's just a portable GameCube. Big set back.
One complaint I have is the asymmetrical layout of the analog sticks. I prefer the the wiiu/old pro controller far more.
Is it gyro-enabled? I prefer motion control and the two-screens, like the original splatoon. If not, it could be a deal breaker. I'm hoping, the wiiu will be getting switch ports post release. The games look very similar to wiiu and they wouldn't have to worry about cannabalizing sales because of the wiius very low install base.
Geesh nintendo, show us something we didn't already know. It's like a fully realized wiiu - I'll play it like the wiiu probably 90% of the time. It'll be annoying having to pull up another screen to drop ink strikes and super jumps. Not a lot of details, just a bunch of young attractive people. Maybe they were the sources of these rumors - there were quite a few of them, plus all those people on the airplane. Looks like we're getting a sequel to Mario 64. I must admit 3D world has really grown on me. I kind of enjoy it more.
I don't understand fan remakes of games without permission. It seems naive to spend all this effort and time creating something that will inevitably be banned. It's like plagiarizing your favorite book with better binding. Why not just make an original game in the spirit of castlevania? They obviously have the talent and passion. As for the game, it's too dark and the bat boss looks like a cheap Halloween prop hanging from a string.
Did they produce a add-on device to allow amiibo functionality for the OG 3DS? If not, this seems like a strategy to get people to upgrade to new 3DS. If they focus on updating older games with amiibo functionality, 90% of the user base won't be able to use it like MK7 or 3D Land.
I really enjoy zero. The controls are misunderstood; it achieves a level of immersion (particularly in all-range mode) that cannot be achieved with traditional controls, and unlike any game before it. It feels like your playing a movie! Gamers need to be more open minded; I understand if you gave it a try and didn't like, but the lack of sales are from people who decided they're gonna hate because it's not the same game from 20 years ago. Same for Federation Force, another excellent game victimized by bone headed gamers.
Makes sense. His jumps are the highest they'll probably ever be. After Jordan came back to basketball after trying baseball, he was in his 30s and depended more on his jumpshot . His hang time was half of what it was during the Bulls first threepeat (when he was a Spry 20 something). Just sayin'
@Kafei2006 I would definitely like to give those 3D castlevania games a second chance. I rented the first one but remember little of it. I haven't tried Hybrid Heaven but reading about it. Wasn't it turn-based?
@BigBluePanda that's interesting. They should release it with a caveat noting the inability to save, but you can save using the game suspend. Which I often do anyways
@wazlon never got to play the sequel or owned the first game, but I did rent it a lot. I was a kid then so I would have to wait for birthdays/ holidays to purchase games. In 1998, I had to choose between Mystical Ninja and Zelda: OOT on my birthday. I certainly don't regret my decision but wish I could come back to Mystical Ninja.
I wish they would release Mystical Ninja for N64 on the virtual console. I don't think they ever did for the wii. Which seems strange because I think they've released this version on the wii and wiiu. So, why omit the N64 game?
It makes more sense to reveal in January, even with a March release still intact. I'm sure they'll do a direct in October and I'm sure it'll be to promote the new Paper Mario and new bundles and deals for the upcoming holiday. They're probably taking it quarter by quarter at this point. Why reveal it now, anyways? No one will be able to buy it for Christmas, anyways. They're probably entering holiday mode and NX reveal will just be a distraction to try and squeeze every last bit out of the 3DS and Wiiu. I do kinda hope I'm wrong because of the anticipation, but I doubt there is any correlation between the time in between reveal and release and success.
I don't understand the point of authoring emulators of Nintendo's creations. Especially nintendo, a company who wl not hesitate to remove unauthorized videos from YouTube. The emulator people are like children who willingly go against their parents rules knowing they'll be disciplined, but crave the drama and attention, nonetheless . And Microsoft is the older sibling enabling the kid, only to step back and get a kick out of watching mom yell at his little brother after it went a little too far.
@MitchVogel SM64 set the bar high early; they made it seem so easy. Meanwhile, there was a mass extinction of 2-D mascots, after diastarous attempts into the realm of 3-D. Looking back, it was a make-or -break moment for Mario. Fortunately, Nintendo hit a home run on their first attempt securing Mario's future.
I used to stare in awe at the Cobra Command arcade screen at 7-11. I remember being so disappointed after I finally obtained a copy of the NES port. I think it was the first time I was struck with the reality of the vast difference between the arcades and home consoles, back in the late '80s.
Ah! Another claimed sighting of the fabled Nintendo NX. I think a better code name would've been something like, Nintendo Unicorn or, Nintendo Sasquatch or, The Lochness Nintendo. People claim to have seen it, but evidence suggest it doesn't exist.
I remember being disappointed with the Mirrors of Fate demo. Looking back, it's probably not a bad game. It just had the musfortune to have the castlevania title and release on a Nintendo portable. So, once I discovered the platforming parts were terrible and had no flow - the game was dead to me. I love the hypnotic gameplay flow of castlevania, but have a western developer make a 2-D platformer and they'll make it feel like your trying to control a pillow case full of rocks.
This is upsetting. I don't understand (he didn't go into detail) sounds like the doctor was a hack and didn't address or understand the severity of the jaundice. Probably assumed it would just go away. Terrible, I hope he receives every last cent of his claim. I'm so sick of the American healthcare industry; for-profit hospitals; pharm- sponsored docs; price gouging; ob gyn butchers; Medicaid scams...the list goes on. Sorry for the rant. There is some serious soul searching needed in our healthcare system.
Never called - I would spend hours walking in circles playing Simon's Quest. Then again, I could barely read at the time. But that soundtrack is forever burned into my brain.
@MitchVogel I was thinking the same. I wished Nintendo embraced 3D more. Their emphasis in promoting 3D gaming seemed to quickly fade after 3DS released (2DS). I was surprised to learn people preferred to turn the 3D off. Personally, I love it and the 3DS is one of my all-time favorite Nintendo devices. So much so, 3D World on the wiiu felt like a let down after playing 3D Land on the 3DS. F-zero on the 3DS would've been cool as well.
This whole kickstarter phenom is still weird to me. Not the concept, but this strange trick my brain plays on me expecting the game to be out within a year or so from first learning about it. The reality is, and I feel sorry for the backers, we learn quite a bit about these games well before heavy production is underway. I completely forgot about this game - it seems quite a long time ago since the kickstarter began. For the backers, it's like preordering a game 3-4 years in advance. I wonder if people will be more hesitant about backing games on kickstarter in the future. It's not for a lack of enthusiasm-I've played the ray man endless and thought it was well made and enjoyed it. Still, I've may have opened the app...twice??
Hasn't Sony messed with mobile in the past? I remember an Uncharted themed card game or something. @RetroTyGuy in 1993, though, people who owned both were definitely comparing star fox to Cybermorph more so. At the time, it actually made me wonder what star fox would've been like with an all-range mode, like what would appear later in Star Fox 64.
I owned an Atari Jaguar and never thought about comparing the two. Kind of strange comparison, but think it's more coincidence with the whole animal thing. Even stranger, there was another jaguar game from 1993 that I actually consciously compared to star fox because, well, it's actually comparable to star fox. I didn't watch the video so maybe they mentioned it, but I'm talking about Cybermorph. It came packed in with my Jaguar and instantly reminds you of star fox. Very very similar. They should be comparing Cybermorph not Trevor McFur.
@Yorumi I'm half-joking, but that IGN review was pretty bizarre. I generally enjoy about 90% of nintendo's input. They wouldn't be my favorite if that wasn't true. I don't know if I'm defending them or not. I just generally enjoy nintendo games and, conspiracy or not, believe they get an unfair populist opinion because of their years of refusal to conform to lowest common denominator form of gaming that has been the norm for the past decade, you know - graphics first, gameplay second. I will always respect their philosophy of experimentation over the whatever will sell type of game. Wait a minute...I am defending them. Damn you!
@Yorumi Sad, I know....A lot of criticism for the solo campaign. Why put so much stock into that. Anyone, with half a brain knows this game was designed as a co-op first with no regard to solo campaign. Sadly, some reviewers aren't immune to self-entitlement experienced by the 'I know this game is crap without playing it' camp. Without that bias hindering it - that 5-6 average is really a 7-8 average. It's unavoidable, but it's creating this 'wow, this game is actually better than i was expecting' phenomenon by people who actually played it. The reviewers were immune to it because they had to pander to the 'this isn't metroid! Arrgh!' crowd. This is all very true and none of it is opinion - trust me.
People saying it didn't sell because it's a crap game are wrong. It didn't sell because people assumed it was a crap game. It's sad public opinion was shaped by so much ignorance and hurt feelings (for some reason). It's the old Nintendo gets crap for making a game too similar to its predecessor just as much for making a game too different from its predecessor. The game is a lot of fun and well designed. I support the criticism of the 'solo campaign' and cramped hands if played too long, but other than that - a lot of misinformed and self entitled people are missing out on a solid game.
@VanillaLake I figured. I don't have much experience with squad based online MP. Now that I'm thinking of it - luigis scarescraper was similar with everyone for themselves clamoring for high score and collectibles.
Played the first two levels with a group of strangers and liked it so far. Although, two people in my group were higher ranked and already played the mission and they were kinda racing through all the objectives. There are some bonus objectives for each level, but not so easy to communicate that to the other players, unless I guess you refuse to step on one of the four pads required to open a door. Anyways, because the others already knew what to do in the mission - I felt like I was tagging along and got last place in points and didn't get to keep the mod I found on the level. The highest points pick first and so on. Nonetheless, the game is well put together and I hope the online community picks up because groups were slim pickings when I tried searching.
@Shiryu thanks again! I think I'll take a chance and pick it up. You'll have to excuse my questions - my only experience with online MP shooters is Splatoon.
@Shiryu that is what I fear. The game has no way of discriminating between player preferences? Or, I guess you guys all load out together and can see who is equipping what before mission start? So you have a sense who the medic guy will be or who's packing the rocket launcher and you can adjust your load out accordingly?
Looks good. The art style doesn't bother me; it kinda gives me a jet force Gemini vibe.
My only concern is how co-op matching works amongst strangers. I mean, is it possible for all 4 to be medics? Or does it consiously try to form balanced teams? Although there are no classes, maybe they should allow to pick from a list preferences - like 'medic', 'gunner', 'heavy artillery'
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I wonder why the PS4 has been outselling the WiiU in Japan. I'm basing this solely on software sales - wiiu games seem to consistently sell better than PS4 games. What PS4 games have been behind all the momentum?
Looking forward to it! Any details about the release: price? Digital only?
Mario 64 is the easy answer for best N64 platformer, but I'll go with Conkers Bad Fur Day. Honorable mention for Mischeif Makers. What ever happened to Treasure???

The highest points pick first and so on. Nonetheless, the game is well put together and I hope the online community picks up because groups were slim pickings when I tried searching.
Re: Round Up: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Predictably Divides Opinion
Critically it seems to be about a 7/10. WTF with that IGN criticism. It only reinforces why I haven't frequented IGN in a few years.
Re: Review: Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)
@Shiryu thanks again! I think I'll take a chance and pick it up. You'll have to excuse my questions - my only experience with online MP shooters is Splatoon.
Re: Review: Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)
@Shiryu that is what I fear. The game has no way of discriminating between player preferences? Or, I guess you guys all load out together and can see who is equipping what before mission start? So you have a sense who the medic guy will be or who's packing the rocket launcher and you can adjust your load out accordingly?
Thanks for the reply, btw
Re: Review: Metroid Prime: Federation Force (3DS)
Re: Video: It's Amazing How Many Great Mega Drive Games Genesis Owners Missed Out On
Alien Soldier was the first game I downloaded on the wii virtual console after 15 years of waiting - it was well worth it too.
Re: 3DS Continues To Dominate Japan As Yo-Kai Watch 3 And Dragon Ball: Fusions Hold Top Places
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I wonder why the PS4 has been outselling the WiiU in Japan. I'm basing this solely on software sales - wiiu games seem to consistently sell better than PS4 games. What PS4 games have been behind all the momentum?
Re: Video: Check Out Six Minutes of Yooka-Laylee Footage
Looking forward to it! Any details about the release: price? Digital only?
Mario 64 is the easy answer for best N64 platformer, but I'll go with Conkers Bad Fur Day. Honorable mention for Mischeif Makers. What ever happened to Treasure???
