Uh, gearbox? Isn't this the company that turned the alien: colonial marines production into a Ponzi scheme? It's funny how patronizing these industry people are towards nintendo. Nintendo is probably the reason they got into the industry. Show a little respect!
I still think Uprising is the game of the century. The only setback with the wiiu port would be sacrificing the 3D effect of the flight scenes. The game is pure magic.
@capnstubing I was wondering if Super Soaker will go after nintendo. If the game becomes massively popular into the mainstream, I think there is a good chance of it.
@day yeah, I need to spend time tinkering with it. I just want to use it and be a stealth assassin. I see more value in it during splat zones with its winner take all payout regardless of how much territory you inked.
@day yeah, I need to spend time tinkering with it. I just want to use it and be a stealth assassin. I see more value in it during splat zones with its winner take all payout regardless of how much territory you inked.
Do you get more points for killing people with the charge shot? I never use it because during the test fire when I tried it my points plummeted. I feel there's no incentive to use it unless you get rewarded more points for kills then with the other weapons. I mean, it's obvious it's the worse weapon to use for inking. One player on the opposition was an ace shot with it and killed me and my teammates like 9 times but got last place in point totals and he was a big reason his team won the match. He singlehandedly neutralized my squad and was unfairly rewarded.
I gave up 45 minutes into the hour. How were we suppose to know it would be extended an hour? Pretty disappointed especially since it ended working an hour later than they scheduled it and after I left the house.
Hmmm, what if starfox 2 is starfox wiiu? When they announced starfox wiiu they said it would be out sooner than expected. They may have re skinned the game and updated it and included extra content. I doubt it's the case but there is definitely an interesting opportunity for a completed game that has never been released.
How cool would it be if Nintendo bought, or was licensed, the rights to mega man and put sakurai in charge. It seems nintendo got the third person shooter/platform thing down with Splatoon. I can only dream of what they could do if given the opportunity to develop a mega man game.
@ULTRA-64 Yeah right, the world was a much bigger place back then. As an American, it would have been hard to imagine relying on the UK for my Nintendo news before the Internet boom.
With all this reminiscing about the wizard and Nintendo world championship. I looked into the history of the wizard and read the movie had a different title in each European country. In today's media landscape, giving a Hollywood movie eight different titles depending on where it was distributed (except China, maybe) would seem strange and confusing.
Hmmm, and now Nintendo and universal studios are partnering again? And e3 is going with this theme. I wonder what the plans for the partnership will be? IT would be cool if they brought back an annual Nintendo world championship.
I long for the good old days. Me and my younger autistic brother stow away in the back of an ice cream truck just to get there...he could play a mean double dragon.
Great demo! I was a little frustrated with the gyro controllers at first (didn't think to check options) but they eventually started to click. I just feel like I need to train my brain a little bit as I kept trying to turn with the gyro controllers and forgetting to use them mainly for vertical aiming and use the r-stick for turning. But, I can see the advantage of gyro aiming; definitely more efficient and quicker than using the sticks. Very addicting, I started getting the shakes as soon as the hour was over. Getting into matches was a little slow at first but got quicker as the hour passed. All in all, I think I played at least eight matches. I liked the versatility of the weapons. I wonder if they'll match players better in the future (I played a match against a team that was all rollers). I came away impressed and I didn't really know what to expect.
I would play this game for hours as a kid. I was never sure where I was suppose to go. I would just walk around the same block over and over again. These character styles were used in a volleyball game for the NES. I can't remember the name, but it was easily the best volleyball game I'd ever played.
This is exciting. I was pretty disappointed by the last castlevania on 3ds. The alchemist idea sounds cool, I hope it borrows heavily from the sorrow series.
@Peach64 I agree but, Damn! look at that box art! It screams impulse buy. Don't underestimate the American consumer during tax refund season. A lot of us (not me personally) view a tax refund as disposable money. Also, any kid under the age of 12 will be attracted to all those bright colors. It's a very attractive box!
@BenAV Agree, uprising is sorely under appreciated. It makes me wish sakurai focus more on action-adventure games and revive older forgotten Nintendo titles like the mysterious castle ninja game or star tropics.
@Spoony_Tech most underrated rare game in my opinion. It would be cool if the original developers got the band back together and went on their own with a spiritual sequel similar to what's been happening with the banjo guys. Oh, and while we're at it, I would love a sequel to Jet Force Gemini. Hopefully Splatoon will fill that void.
Oh boy, I'm on the wrong side of 30. To be honest, I bought super Mario kart 8 when it released and I may have only played it about 8 hours. Nothing wrong with the game, but being on the wrong side of 30 I get easily detracted from games. And the time I had to play games at that time was mostly devoted to the free download of Pikmin 3. But you make a good point, I questioned why I bought the game. It's because I've been buying Mario kart games for the past 20 years and didn't give it a second thought picking up the new one. So, I agree Nintendo's future depends on these young you tubers (a site I rarely use). I wonder, YouTube has been around for years, have Nintendo games ever made the best of list before their YouTube policies or are game videos a more recent hot trend that's exploding right now on the site?
Off-topic: I would love Treasure to revive Alien Soldier and make it 3D gameplay and similar concept to Monster Hunter. I'm imaging hunting a giant cyborg on a derelict space station playing as a humanoid chicken with a laser gun.
Gunstar Heros will be my first Sega 3D Classic. But, it makes me wonder what Treasure has been up to lately. Sin and Punishment 2 came out a long time ago.
If you ever decide to bench shulk as I did frequently because I loved Dunban's skillset, make sure to take shulks pants off (I know, sounds perverted). Nothing funnier than the game cutting to a dramatic scene of our hero discussing the fate of existence in his underwear.
It may be a little early to announce, but the 'ultra 64' rumors began circulating around '93 just a mere two years after the SNES released. With exception of the NES and Wii, Nintendo typically work around a 5-year cycle for home consoles (wii lasted 6 years) so the timing seems about right. 2016 will be the reveal and 2017 for the release.
Are developers becoming more and more incompetent? The game looks 8-bit; how hard can it be? I'd be happier if developers just flat out said, "we are not bringing the the game to wiiu/3ds because, well, you know, Nintendo sucks."
So this is what happens when a gaijin works for gamefreak? He trolls Nintendo hardcore. It just looked right to put Xbox on the poster? This is how decisions are made?
My oldest brother bought one when it first came out. It took his whole paycheck from Mcdonalds (he was 15) to pay for it. We were blown away by the audio and video capabilities of games like robo aleste, sonic cd, wonder dog, time gal, and silpheed. Lunar the silver star story was the first game that brought me to tears with all the cinemas and Luna's descent from innocent country gal to evil sorceress. The first game where I felt I cared about the characters and it had to do with all those cinemas.
So, only Nintendo gamers play games for fun. Well, except for Xbox gamers albeit a pretty low priority. It is pretty obvious from all the articles about The Order 1886. There are a lot of comments like, 'I don't care if the game is boring, I'm gonna buy anyways because of graphics and...and the voice-overs are suppose to be really good and it's ecluuusive so eat a dick.' The decline of video games is never more present than now.
We need a jet force Gemini clone. It's probably rares most under appreciated N64 games (well, second to blastcorp). Not too many 3D platformers with guns. Hopefully, Splatoon delivers.
Here in America, NES fever was in full effect by Christmas '87. I've combed through Nintendo sales on vgchartz and was curious why Nintendo sales underperformed in Europe throughout the years compared to US and Japan. It seems, based on the comments, it was more accessible in certain countries over others. I can only imagine the challenges faced when trying to mass market a fledgling product across a multi-national continent, especially in the '80s.
Cool! You know what would be cooler? If the game was actually available for purchase at stores. I struck out so many times trying to buy this game at gamestops and best buy. Way to go distributors, I saw about 30 copies of Majoras masks laying in a big pile next to a little empty slot where all 5 copies of MH4U used to be. I'm a little bitter but they loved up the release of this game big time. Promoted games with demos, bundles, critical claim should be available for purchase, no?
I enjoyed the demo but not being able to forecast your enemy moves or see the whole battle field is a little frustrating especially for a SRPG, but, I guess that's what makes it different and it adds a little realism to it. Your character should only be able to see with his two eyes and the strategy would be to have your team split up to get different vantage points. I look forward to the spring.
Nintendo should've got super weird with this and added Walker, Texas Ranger as a playable character. For his overwatch, he can bust out of a crate and high kick a dude in the throat. Maybe I'm weird but all those cargo crates reminded of an episode, or many, of Walker, Texas Ranger.
If he steps away from game development, I hope he stays with Nintendo in some capacity. Perhaps mentoring young developers or in management. As good as SSB plays, I would like him involved more in action-adventure games like KI:Uprising.
When I was 14 during the N64 game drought (1997 or so) I wrote a letter to Nintendo urging them to bring back Kid Icarus. In the letter, I pitched ideas on how it should be done. They responded in a letter saying, basically, 'that's a neat idea but that's not exactly how it works'. Then, 15 years later, Kid Icarus: Uprising is released. Your welcome.
Zak & Wiki would be a nice addition. The game was released early in the wii cycle and was overlooked by many. Oh, and the capcom fighting game (tatsuono-something?). I can see Capcom jumping in on the opportunity as they have been pretty good about supporting the VC.
Gameplay was very addicting and I'm kinda glad it was over after completing the game, mining every ore, and getting all the upgrades. Tra-tra-tra-treasure.
