It's funny how NOA piggybacked on NOE by taking their UK version of Xenoblade chronicles. I would like to think NOE received some of the revenue for the U.S. sales. It was essentially their version. What did NOA do? It was a GameStop exclusive so I imagined that distribution was pretty efficient.
They should nerf the Dynamo roller. Way too much range! Plus, too many players cheesing the jump splash, and if their Japanese and they get some turbo boost from latency or lag or whatever - they're super annoying and kinda break the game. A geyser of ink with a range of a dual squelcher is super cheesy and not fun to play with. Fix it Nintendo!!! Plus, we need regional matches - the latency is making the game unplayable some nights.
@FragRed I think you can join private lobbies freely unless it's password protected. At least, I hope so, or it would be seldomly used - how many people know 7 others with wiiu? Probably not a lot.
Hot diggity dog! Although I avoid hot dogs except on special occasions. I sure ate a lot of them as a kid before I learned they were made from a left-over animal parts emulsion. What did we know? My mom used to smoke in the house and gasoline contained lead....ah, memories. It was a more innocent time then.
How about a charger blaster? It could have a range between a squiffer and a jet squelcher (about 72) with the impact of the OG blaster but the mobility and charge time as a 3K to balance it out. That would be pretty cool like a mobile mortar.
can you make scrolling levels, like the airship levels in SMB3? or go vertical like the cloud level in SMB3 as well? I'm excited for this game but not aware of the limitations.
It's nice to see young talented designers at Nintendo. Hopefully he doesn't over do it and become reluctant and a little jaded like it seems sakurai has become.
As much as I love Splatoon - I get frustrated with how broken the game can be. It's hard some nights to join a lobby and have that one guy who is seemingly invincible, teleports all over the place, and immune to enemy ink. Is their anyway this can be remedied from nintendo's perspective? I am pretty sure my connection is fine as a team mate and I cornered a roller that was going Steven segall on my team (the guy was untouchable) Annnnd we shared a bubbler, painted every last area of the corner, then, suddenly we kind of both stood there for a second like, WTF and the roller literally appeared out of thin air and splatted us both. How can that be fixed because me and the teamate were witnessing the same thing. It's kind of a big problem and frustrating when it starts to affect your rank.
I could see their QoL life venture contradicting their video game output. One is promoting exercise and such while the other is promoting a more sedentary experience. Oh boy, I'm kind of worried now (no news is good news, right?) that this will spark a seismic shift in nintendo's scope to step away from video games and embrace this whole exercising crap.
Seriously, is that iPhone looking thing part of it? I assume they expect you to provide the smart phone where you download an app to monitor your physical daily activity like a pedometer. I hope so or that would be a tough sell to convince people to carry an additional screen along with there smartphone in their pocket all day.
level cap doesn't bother me. I've played more post level 20 then I did obtaining 20. I play ranked battles exclusively and keep yo-yoing between B- and B+. So there is still a lot of mileage left in this game for me. Also, I've been experimenting with different weapons and discovering weapons I initially ignored to becoming my favorites like the squiffer. There's nothing more satisfying in this game for me then squiffing three badguys within seconds in splatzones before refilling my tank.
@123akis I figured that. It threw me off because the article is time stamped today (Friday) and the article said tomorrow for the US. But, I guess, because it was written very early in the morning (UK) he referenced tomorrow from the perspective of it still being Thursday evening in the U.S. (Pacific). I don't know, I'm still kind of confused.
Tomorrow morning for the UK but tomorrow evening for the US? Don't they usually release simultaneously? With time difference, that's like an 18-24 hour difference. Is it 7pm tonight for the U.S. (Pacific) and like 3am Saturday morning for UK?
I don't know what's more amusing about cosplay galleries; the creative, extravagant costumes these young women put together...or the photobomber, the random guy in street clothes on booty watch shooting laser beams from his eyes.
Interesting, my girlfriend back in high school bought a GameCube only to play animal crossing. She was by no means a 'gamer' but fell hard for animal crossing when I rented it just to see what it was all about.
@sinalefa I would start with kelp splatterscope before jumping to the 3-liter. The kelp has way better mobility - equipped with the 3-liter makes you feel like a tank. I use the kelp almost exclusively for tower control; the killer wail definitely comes in handy for this mode. I found camping with the kelp in the same spot to be futile unless the bad guys are brain dead. So you need to have at least 2 (preferably 3) camp spots to rotate. Because of this, I feel the mobility comes in handy and worth the little loss in range compare to the 3-liter.
@Spoony_Tech ....and it did replace the gameboy. The third pillar approach may go on for a year or so but its just a gentle approach of interrupting the cycle. DS came out only three years after the gba but, by 2005 it was all about the DS.
@bro2dragons that would be cool but I see the super scope more as a charger. It would be nice if they add an intermediate charger with a range in between a squiffer and the splatterscope. It could be the same range as a jet squelcher.
I don't know...extremely hard to believe considering it took Americans a year of begging and pleading to get NOA To publish Xenoblade not too long ago. A critically claimed game. NOA should of stayed quiet until all the (assuming) bad reviews roll in from Europe in a month and just let it fade away or give the option to xseed. I don't want to believe NOA made a u-turn on this decision in response to internet people saying 'WTF!?!' in a time span of a few days considering the crap they pulled with Xenoblade. Does not seem professional at all.
Furthermore: I understand the unseen64 guy is a trusted source but, everything he disclosed was reported as a RUMOR not official. It's ridiculous coming just mere weeks after Nintendo so brazenly ignored it at E3 - the biggest stage in The U.S. for video games. And now, they're showing their hand because a 'rumor' called them out rather than disclose it ahead of E3. Doesn't make any sense why Nintendo issued a tweet in response to a rumor.
I'll be happy to play a proper 'castlevania'. It's been seven years since order of ecclesia. It's too bad knomai ruined the series on the 3ds with western developers.
It's a neat idea. They should do levels like in the R/C helicopter challenges of the Unbeatable Banzuke Japanese game show. A model city with heli pads on top of scaled high rises would be pretty cool. If the price is low I may still check this out. Though, I still need to check out affordable space adventures but I can't.......too much Splatoon.
Well, I'm sure he was pissed losing it in the settlement anyways. She's the one losing out on 400 bucks or so. At least the husband can have some piece of mind knowing the game is likely with someone who does love the game.

I wonder what percentage are digital. As an outsider (American), Ive been curious why Nintendo games lag in Europe. It seems to me the key would be for Nintendo to do better in the UK. After playing Splatoon, gyro controllers offer so much more potential for gameplay. The anti-gyro people are probably the same people who complained about the stylus control for KI:Uprising. Yeah, it was a little uncomfortable at times, but it seems impossible to play well or as the game was intended without it. Twin stick shooters may be okay if you're operating a tank but they don't simulate the diverse and freedom of movement of you're arms the way gyro controls can.
Ranked battles feels like the equivalent to a drug or gambling addiction. I've been dragging through work the past couple of weeks because it's kept me up till 3am trying to recoup lost points or getting a high from winning. Last night was weird - after spending a week of bouncing between C+ and B-, I finally broke through and went on like an 8 game winning streak and blasted to 80 points as a B rank. Then the illuminati intervened...at bluefin tuna I kept getting pitted against a team with a sniper and a jet squelcher who were making easy pickings of the two aero spray guys on my team. This happened like three straight matches. Frustrated, I kept wondering when the sniper would be on my team (bluefin is ideal for snipers because of the verticality and high visibility). Finally, I get paired with the sniper and an ink brush guy...but we were switched to the claustrophobic underpass level and, now, was pitted against the two aerospray and jet squelcher. We lost because the aerospray works well in the underpass. This went on for an hour, I was set up with the most I'll-equipped teammates for that level. We would bounce back to bluefin and I would be against the sniper. Then, back to the underpass I would have the sniper on my team against two aerospray people. Fortunately, I left the lobby at B, with 70 points but, I felt they were trying every possible way to screw me over. All in all ranked battles had made me improve my game drastically which makes all the more rewarding when you level up.
@rjejr it depends on the ranking of the opposition. If you're team, let's say, all C+ and the team you beat are all C- then you are rewarded less points then if you defeat team with equivalent ranking. You're right, they should explain the exact method employed.
I think, ultimately, the challenge for VR is creating a whole new concept of gaming. What works with controllers won't work with vr. Sure, certain types of games could be vastly improved like games where you're inside a cockpit with a bunch of buttons and levers needed to be mobile like a spaceship, car, or giant robot but the majority of today's games where you're required to move around on foot doesn't seem too fun or practical in VR. So right now, ironically, VR gaming choices seem pretty limited until they reinvent the video game.
@Peach64 well, he mentioned Nintendo is experimenting with it. As far as what he has 'seen' that's not very fun could potentially be nintendo's very own vr experiments. He admitted to not paying attention to what was demonstrated at E3. But, yeah, these are the exact type of quotes that get willfully misinterpreted for sensationalism.
Federation force should come as no surprise to people who have been paying attention. Nintendo had been saying for a long time now they wanted to take liberties with the metroid universe. I think the game looks fun like a cross between Splatoon and monster hunter.
