Purple transparent is great. Still got that GBA.

But have you noticed something in all these mockups? The screen coloUr stays the same and the grip colour stays the same. I'm hopeful we will get an overall coloUr swap and not just on the joy-cons. I know the focus is on them but the images look very disjointed and not as nice as a result.

Could see these as clip-ons, like on small 3ds

This is something that may put me off from buying in early. Why buy the standard Switch at the beginning when you know that Nintendo are going to bring out some really cool special edition, or even a mid gen hardware revision.

Purple transparent like my N64 controller of choice. I normally wouldn't have been interested in getting joycons like this but that might be the exception.

No one forces you to buy a game on a specific platform. To say "game x doesn't belong on system y" is just utter nonsense. Also the combination of gyro-controls and analog stick feels great. But I doubt many third parties would use that.
Btw. no one said anything about Overwatch...

@Gaeus that's true.. and while gyro works great for Splat, I feel like that's only because of the core gameplay it has.
To answer the last bit: the 7th image has an overwatch picture. that's Genji.

Regarding those Mock-Ups, all the screens in the Nintendo video, showing the new Switch tablet are Mock-Ups. Including the Mario one and the Mario Kart and Zelda.

So we have not seen anything from the Switch yet.

@dizzy_boy Well, actually getting to use the console would be a decent reason I guess.
I get where you're coming from though, as I too love anything shiny and special edition. But with nintendo you know there will be a flood of special paintjobs around the corner at any given time. I'm stressed out and feel like I'm missing out constantly.

I never liked the "Atomic Purple" that Nintendo went with for a while. I was "GBC/GC Indigio" guy. I do hope we get a SNES (PAL, because that NA thing was horrid) themed one. 2 tone grey with the 4 main face buttons being red, blue, green and yellow!

They look nice. I can see Nintendo doing something like this.

It'd be cool to see them with different inputs for different games.

Hopefully the Switch has as many bundles as the 3DS did.

It will be interesting to see what official versions Nintendo comes up with. Hopefully it doesn't cheap-out like it did with the vast majority of basically sticker-looking New 3DS XL skins and instead goes with the generally higher quality that most of the New 3DS regular skins went for. If it's cheap crap there's not point as far as I'm concerned, but if it's done right it could be very cool. I'd actually like to see a set based on the classic N64 "watermelon" (and other colours) funtastic series.

@Favna I think Overwatch on the Switch would be great! I only play Overwatch on PC (not like I have a PS4 or xbox one anyways) and while a nice mouse and low sensetivity is nice, gyro controls paired with a mobile hotspot could prove a nice way of playing Overwatch anywhere. You set a high sensetivity for the turning analog stick and aim with the gyroscope. At the doctors office? Stand up and turn on the mobile hotspot. It will take some physical effort but even heroes like Widowmaker should be enjoyable (though considering I mainly play Widow I probably shouldn't try to play with a gyro either lol). Flick shots shouldn't be too hard if the gyro sens is 1:1 with your movements. Also, you mentioned the Switch being underpowered, but Overwatch is very easy to run. 60fps on low settings would be easy at 720p, even with this "custom Tegra processor" from NVidia, and before you say low settings are terrible, pls no, just stick shadows on low or something and it looks great

The transparent one reminds me of my old game boy pocket, first console I ever owned.

Those are pretty cool. I'm hoping the customization goes a step further and even changes the inputs based on the game. Like some may have a touch pad, extra buttons, analog placement, etc.

I liked the ones floating around a while back based on the different Nintendo consoles over the years, they were subtle and very collectable. The mock-ups of the Joy-Cons that add different functionality were awesome too, like the Gun (Resident Evil) or the Dial (Yo-Kai Watch). They are a great idea for special editions.

I agree. While these may look cool, they don't do anything except change the color/skin. I hope to see joy cons that actually change the game play. Give us a GameCube option for the Smash fanatics. Give us a NES or SNES model to play our VC games with. While I'm not into Yo-Kai-Watch, I think the mock-up with the spinner was a really cool idea. At the very least, give us one with a true D-Pad for VC games.

I like the Bayonetta one. I do hope at the very least Nintendo does some actual joy-cons based upon the Mario franchises.

I do hope they come out with different designs of some fashion if this is being marketed as a handheld for individuals. Sure single millennials with penthouses won't care, but families will.

I like the Bayonetta one, and the Mario kart red one, but only because I like red, otherwise those are kind of bland. I do hope Nintendo does quickly make special coloured joy con controllers, it's a easy way for ppl to customize the game system.

@bakayoshi Oh ok, I didn't mean any offense by that, I hope you didn't take it that way. I just think there could have been a little more like you did with the StarFox over the buttons. You could have had the Triforce over the D-pad-replacement buttons for example. Maybe I'm just too big a Zelda fan
