@Poco_Lypso He's saying they are still supporting it, still making games for it, not abandoning it. Also if you were able to afford a Switch 2 for 350$ or whatever, 450 should just need some saving up. The console itself is priced reasonably. Don't buy Mario Kart if you want to boycott something that's overpriced.

@UnbreakableAlex The only problem I see us the price of some games. Everything else is working out great. I really don't understand how you could think that this is in any way comparable to the PS3 or even the XOne.

@Mythra 146 million was in the three day weekend but over it's whole five day opening it made 204 million dollars domestically.

@Anti-Matter This is categorically false. Even long after game purchases are shut down, downloads and redownloads are still very much possible on old Nintendo console eshops.

@Pat_trick The Switch didn't loose third party support. What are you talking about? Also the Switch 2 version is significantly upgraded, not compromised compared to the PS4 version. Higher resolution and higher framerate plus the expansion and later updates that the PS4 never got.

@batmanbud2 Only after an update though, but yeah, they should be considering this.

@Largren Yes, docked supports 1080p/120fps.

@Bobobiwan BotW and TotK do get some additional content through that phone app, but just not that much. Those two are so far the only ones confirmed for NSO+. That's why they aren't completely free to upgrade like other games.

@DonJorginho For Kirby and Mario Party it's basically a pretty normal $20 DLC that's Switch 2 exclusive.
Older games like BotW should have gotten permanent price cuts at this point though, but I imagine, even if they did do permanent price cuts very big sellers like BotW and Mario Kart would simply be excluded. It does suck.

@IronMan30 In this case it's not particularly meaningful as it's expected to happen. The game was first announced for Switch and PC and is a sequel to a game that was Switch exclusive and is still only on Switch and PC. Also it's developed and published by Marvelous, who release all of their games day one on Switch, many of them exclusive or timed exclusive.

@MysteriousMudkip Yeah I saw all the prices now. 90€ and $80 for Mario Kart. Digital is cheaper at least but 80€ for digital is still to much.

@Justifier The upgrades that cost money also include additional content like full DLC expansions. For BotW and TotK they're 10€ to upgrade and 20€ for Kirby and Mario Party.

I was gonna buy a Switch 2 for Christmas. Not anymore. Gonna keep waiting.

@SillyG It's not really strange. It's meant to prevent exports so that they can price it at a consumer friendly price, since inflation has been bad in Japan but wages have mostly not gone up.

@AnVold It's either all or none, otherwise you'd be forced to have certain games only on the system storage. And how would that be regulated?

And the MCU only got bad recently.

@Datasun_7 Tomodachi Life was big on the 3DS, it sold over 6.7 million copies there. It should sell even more than that on Switch.

@LXP8 Exactly! And so many people claimed the price made the Switch dead on arrival. And look at what happened instead. Never got a price cut and even got a more expensive model later on that is now the most popular.

350$ has proven to not be a big deterrent, but 400$ is according to these two going to be such huge problem to this game's success.
Moms buy their kids way more expensive PS5s and mobile phones. And it's not even mostly kids playing Mario Kart anyways.

@iLikeUrAttitude Mario Kart 9 will be new to everyone and there were three Mario Kart games on portable consoles before 8 Deluxe. So those are not reasons why 8 Deluxe sold so well but 9 won't sell quite as well.

@ArcadeSixties Tunic isn't really a rip off from Zelda as it's gameplay is quite different, more souls-like in it's combat.

@Serpenterror The first two Smash Bros. games were made by Hal Labs and Brawl was made mostly by Toy Logic, Monolith Soft, Hal Labs and Game Arts. Only the last two were made by Bandai Namco.

@axelhander Street Fighter 2 is not a cross-over platform fighter. Platform fighters are very different from Street Fighter.

Uninstalled the app. It was disappointing enough that they only added one game a week after they launched the app with barely anything on it, with some of the games having less than 10 minutes of soundtrack. But now they started to add partial sountracks, which means this game will on it's own take up several weeks this year.
I don't care what crappy excuses they have. We might get less than 20 game OSTs a year this way. Don't care anymore. Most of the Nintendo soundtracks I care about are going to be added in 10 years or never anyways.

@EriXz They fully bought the team in 1992 and sold 90% of the shares in 2016. The article describes it in detail.

It's been explained plenty of times: the boob slider has been changed or removed (not sure, but don't personally care) and a very revealing outfit for a 13 year old girl has been removed that was already hard to even get to begin with, so most people in the original didn't even get to see it.

It's two inconsequential things that nobody seriously cares about. That's not even what censorship is.

@johnedwin Now you're talking about worldwide numbers, which has nothing to do with Japanese only numbers. Additionally it would be pretty disappointing for Sony if the PS5 did not have at least one such big holiday quarter.

Considering you obviously have a very poor understanding of how all of this works I'll explain some basics: the Switch sells less now, because it's at the end of it's life, the PS5 sells strongly because it's in the middle of it's life where consoles usually are at their peak. Both did very well overall in 2024. The PS5 did not do well at all in Japan in 2024. That is something you seem to have a hard time accepting.

@RootsGenoa Well first of all, most people didn't have a Wii U and didn't play this game. I for example only became a Xenoblade fan way later and don't know much about this game's story. And even for the ones that did play it, like the article said if you bothered reading it, the bonus story content can get spoiled to everyone.
