@Luminous117 There is no begging and pleading going on anywhere here. They're legally covering themselves from any of the mentioned security issues that may happen with that statement. I imagine pretendo would be easier to hack and steal everyone's Nintendo account data, than if Nintendo still had their servers running.

@John_Deacon Echoes of Wisdom is way way ahead of Link's Awakening in the same timeframe and has a higher digital share on top of that. It has already outsold like half the franchise in Japan retail alone.

@Ultimapunch Unlike those other online services, NSO is not going to stay tied to the Switch. It's not a service that is intrinsically tied to the current Switch by it's very nature. It's going to continue on Switch 2, together with people's Nintendo accounts and everything. Even when your Switch at some point in the future in 10 or more years can't play games online anymore, NSO will still not be shut down.

The leaks in no way make it look like a "Wii U situation" as it being called Switch 2 on it's own would make that nothing alike.
And yes, those are actual legitimate leaks.

@Keman There is no Wii U situation going on here. Nobody is going to be confused like that. This thing is called Switch 2 and not Switch U or Switch+ or Switch Pro or something else that might suggest it's just an additional model or accessory.

With the Wii U they focused everything on the controller, which made it look like an accessory or add on, with the name not being clear about it being a new console.

How is "Switch 2" not a clear enough name? It's obviously a new console. It'll most likely say "Nintendo Switch 2" on the back of the thing. And it looks much more different from the Switch 1 than you think it does.

@OldGamer999 Most of the people who bought MK8D aren't actively playing it anymore or at least not regularly. I bet there's at least 30 million people who would be eager to buy MK9 asap.

@Rayquaza2510 Sorry, what issues exactly does Doom Eternal have in later levels? I played through the whole game including DLC three times on Switch at higher difficulty levels and thought it kept a smooth 30fps throughout the whole game without any stutters or slowdown. I didn't notice any issues.

@Clyde_Radcliffe Are we looking at the same images? They are black with coloured rails. That's the exact opposite of the Switch Joy-Cons.

@Serpenterror Dragon Quest had a way bigger launch. That's all there really is too it. Next week it will probably sell another 50-60k while Mario Party should sell over 100k easily, but that won't be enough to reach the over 900k that DQ3 should be at then. It'll catch up soon enough though.

@Toastmaster The first Microsoft Flight Simulator, licensed to Microsoft by the developer Sublogic, released in November 1982, 42 years ago.
Donkey Kong released in July 1981 and Pac-Man first released in May 1980.
Those two IPs are still alive and older.

The weird part here now is that over 160 million is still as of March 31st 2012 and not later, despite over 155 million having been as of the same date.

#2 is completely pointless because the IR sensor on one of the joy-cons can already measure your pulse just fine with pretty good accuracy.

@Axecon They didn't just confirm that NSO will continue on the next console but that Switch games in general will be playable on Switch 2, so full backwards compatibility including digitally.
That suggests that the eshop will continue. Of course they might update it with a new design or whatever.
