@Takoking What on earth does Niantic have to do with this? They own 0% of the Pokémon IP. They just developed Pokémon Go and have literally nothing else to do with Pokémon. Especially not the pricing of console Pokémon games. Also as of almost a year ago they sold off Pokémon Go to Scopely who now work on it and now have nothing to with Pokémon at all.

It's the Pokémon Company that makes such decisions together with Nintendo and likely Game Freak.

@darylb24 @NPC411 The Switch 2 is worldwide, in the US and in Japan the fastest selling console ever in it's first seven months on the market. Yes, even with the weak November sales in the US (which all consoles suffered from). And even in the UK it outpaced the Switch 1 launch aligned. So your large UK retailer is obviously not exactly representative of the whole market.

@johnedwin The original Dragon Quest VII released on the PS1 after the PS2 released and looked almost like a SNES game and yet still sold millions of copies in Japan. They really never cared about graphics there.

For Age of Imprisonment Nintendo would only report sales outside of Japan, as Koei Tecmo publish it in Japan. It sold 1 million. Only Koei Tecmo report it's total sales.

Obviously that's not the case. DQ7 never showed explicit genitalia and such things. It's not comparable.

@SuperEndriu The 3DS game sold a ton in Europe. Out of the 6.72 million sold copies about a third were from Japan.

@Chimichanga Tomodachi Life is significantly more popular than Metroid and has the potential to sell 10 million copies. Metroid Prime 4 won't come close to that and a direct for that game instead of the trailers we got wouldn't make any sense to begin with as they didn't want to show to much of the game. With Tomodachi Life it's better to show more.

@Kiz3000 FF7R didn't get a physical release on Xbox in many regions, probably including the UK, not sure. And for PS5 it likely didn't get reprints in a while. It's not Sony and Microsoft reporting retail sales here. It's retailers reporting them.

@EriXz Nintendo having "no games" on Switch 2 is not a thing of opinion. They have factually released a number of games on Switch 2. You can say they're all bad or whatever, but saying you're stating facts when you're claiming the only things on Switch 2 by them are cross gen games and DLCs is simply wrong.

@EriXz You're not stating facts when you're saying the console has no games and whatever you mean with no information, when it does have a lot of games already with a roughly 1 game per month cadence and a lot more games announced already with obviously more to come.

You're also lying about the console's price and purposely ignoring all Switch 2 exclusive games to have a reason to claim that they're trying to sell the Switch 2 "with previous generation games (Metroid) or worst, with previous generations DLC (Animal Crossing)" instead of trying to sell it with Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananza and several other exclusive games with the cross gen games and DLCs just being additional incentives.

Or would you rather Metroid Prime 4 had no Switch 2 enhancements?

@obijuankanoobie On the Wii and other Nintendo consoles you can't buy anything anymore digitally, but you can still redownload games at least. Not quite sure about other things. It's probably separate servers or something.

Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Banaza, Kirby Air Riders, Hyrule Warriors, Metroid Prime 4, Pokémon Legends ZA, Mario Tennis Fever, Pokémon Pokopia, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Tomodachi Life, Rhythm Heaven Groove, Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave. And Splatoon Raiders announced without a release year.

And all that before the February Direct and not counting any Switch 2 Editions.

And if this is your argument for why exclusives should disappear completely then the tell me why so many of Nintendo's games are among the best selling ever despite being exclusives.

@ShadLink No, DeNa as Wikipedia says made the service infrastructure, My Nintendo integration, and development cooperation with Nintendo EPD for Miitomo, Super Mario Run, AC Pocket Camp and Mario Kart Tour and the same with Intelligent Systems and Fire Emblem Heroes. They made Pokémon Masters together with the Pokémon Company and Pokémon TCG Pocket on their own.

@ShadLink Super Mario Run, Mario Kart Tour and Animal Crossing Pocket Camp were fully or almost fully developed by Nintendo internally. Doctor Mario World was co-developed by Nintendo.

But those are only mobile games, none of them are ports of console games and none of them would ever come to actually competing hardware.

@Anti-Matter Super Mario Bros Wonder and all other Mario platformers on Switch already run at smooth 60fps. More voice acted dialogue and UE5 won't help them in any way.

@nintendolife There's still several typos with the platforms in the table. It says Kirby Air Riders and AoI are on Switch 1 and Animal Crossing is on Switch 2.

Avatar 3 is gonna make another 2 billion at the box office no matter how little perceivable hype there is on the internet. Both movies got great ratings from critics and normal viewers. Your own opinion is not to be confused with fact and reality.

@Samalik The dev team is obviously not just Sora Ltd. which is him and his wife, but a much larger team from Bandai Namco. He is usually the director and his wife is the UI designer.

@Serpenterror The Switch actually has over 15 000 games (I know thousands of them are shovelware, but it's the highest any console ever had).
