@spiderman0616 "Old Nintendo" wouldn't have just moved on with something else. They made straight sequel systems almost every time. NES to SNES, Gameboy to GBA and DS to 3DS. Wii U is a bit more different from the Wii but still had that name and a lot of motion control focus.

@CJD87 This isn't just a 10 minute introduction or demo. It's got a bunch of minigames that you can put several hours into.

@Suketoudara The Switch 2 is cheaper in Japan because of the massive inflation and wages not having kept up with it. 50k yen is already incredibly expensive for the average person there. They want for people to actually be able to buy it in the first place. That's also why it's region locked, to prevent mass exports from scalpers and the likes.

@Vyacheslav333 Kiwami 1 and 2 were not on Wii U. Wii U got the original versions upressed to HD with no other changes. And they released on there years before Kiwami 1 or 2 were made.

@Spider-Kev In Japan it's by far the best selling console ever after having surpassed the DS. The PS2 is fifth behind Switch, DS, Gameboy and 3DS.

@Anakin On my modern TV Gamecube games look washed out and terrible. I had to fiddle around with my TV's settings for over 20 minutes to get Luigi's Mansion to look somewhat acceptable.

@Kingy Only if you don't care about Mario Kart, have already played all of the third party ports or don't care about any of them and don't care about other games such as Rune Factory. Appart from that, more reasons to get excited are coming shortly after launch, like DK.

@sanderev They would've still called it Mario Kart 9. They said it clear as day. The idea that Nintendo considers Tour as Mario Kart 9 should never have existed to begin with.

Also to correct you, you forgot Arcade GP 2 and Arcade GP VR, which is why Tour is the 14th game in the series.

And that's why you're not a business man. If anything 2022 would be the earliest if interest in the system dropped much faster than it did. 2023 would have been a likely target, but 2022 would have eaten into the Switch sales even without the pandemic and since you're saying "at the latest" 2021 would have been way to early.

@Elitepatriot Why, what are you even upset about? This is meant to prevent people from hacking their Switch and it's games and pirating them. Why are you supporting the pirates? If you just play your games normally like everyone else there won't be any problem.

@Jhena Gamasutra is right on this if they mean from launch until the end of March 2018. That is almost 13 months, but you can call that it's first year. 2.74 million + 15.05 million is almost 18 million.

@Jhena Statista is not very reliable, especially when they write that the Switch sold 143.4 million consoles worldwide as of August 2024, despite that being the exact number that Nintendo reported in August 2024 to have been as of June 2024. Aka they don't pay attention and don't actually understand what the company is reporting. What other stupid mistakes are they making?

I saw their graph of Switch sales they had a few years ago, where the number in a random quarter in 2019, for no reason at all went down instead of up by the reported number and since then the total number lagged behind.

Nintendo reported shipments of 2.74 million in March 2017 and in the following quarters 1.96 million, 2.93 million and 7.23 million. Then in the quarter ending March 2018 another 2.93 million. They only report shipments, also in various regions.

@Jhena Where did you get 13.12 millio from? Was that sell through? Because the shipment was 14.86 million in 2017 and 15.05 in the fiscal year from April 2017 to March 2018.

@SwitchplayerJohn They didn't have any previous estimates. That was an analyst. May still happen.

S/V are clearly better games in most aspects so they deserve to sell better.

@Vyacheslav333 Like I said, it's two images that are censored. To me that's not much of an actual downgrade unless you desperately want to see male butt cheeks and big boobs covered with frosting and strawberries.

@GabrielBacakPS None of these designs actually look the same. They just have the same origins, being based on Japanese mythology. In Palworld's case they actually look blatantly similar with parts of models being identical.

@Jeronan Digimon came more than a year after Pokémon. You can't just look at the US release dates. Pokémon started development years earlier than Digimon.

@Vyacheslav333 It's not a big deal to me or anyone who doesn't base their purchase decision off of two or so images bring censored.
But as of recently Nintendo of America has been quite stingy with anime nudity in some Japanese games and they either got rejected to be released there or had to censor some parts. It's overall easier to have the same version in all regions on one console so some devs decide to also release the censored version in Japan.

@MrDocena 15 million would be on par with the first Switch in a similar timeframe. Not really ambitious. More like expected minimum. I expect 17 or 18 million.

@Bunkerneath It's not Ubisoft saying that, it's a developer who hasn't been working at Ubisoft in over 10 years.

@1UP-HUSKY Some actually do sell it cheaper like Bravely Default. If they used actual cartridges it'd be way more expensive for them and the retail version would either be at least 60€ or wouldn't exist. The cartridges are genuinely expensive.

I assume the Switch version of Mortal Kombat 11 isn't getting any physical reprints anymore.

@gazamataz I think he just explained why summer is a great time to launch. Other times in the year have their own reasons why they may be great for that.

Many people seem to think it's exclusively a news app. But it's not. I go there to look at cool artwork, read fun comic strips, listen to cool live covers of Nintendo music, especially Xenoblade, watch some cute and funny videos and other stuff.

@AlCamus That would lead to most of these games to either become digital only or get significantly more expensive physically.

I thought the game key cards would make this crap disappear. How disappointing.
