Re: Talking Point: Can Nintendo Keep Up The One-Game-A-Month Release Pace On Switch 2?

BANJO

For the first year, they will need say perhaps 8 first party games. So that's a game every 6 or so weeks, but then one every 2 months should be more than enough.
One a month seems way to optimistic for my liking. With the extra power and time it takes to make Switch 2 games, if we get a game every 2 months, we will be lucky...
This expecting a game every month is madness...

@Anti-Matter I have Smurf Kart on Switch, picked it up cheaply and was quite impressed. Only issue is that it only has 12 courses but the online time trials add replay value to try and get higher ranks worldwide. It plays well, certainly worth picking up if you can get it relatively cheap. 8/10

Re: Xbox Is "Really Looking Forward" To Supporting Switch 2

BANJO

@Yosti I certainly understand your take. I'm a Nintendo fan first and foremost. So getting all my games on one console is the most sensible move going forwards.
I suppose where we differ is that I enjoy having different consoles, I'm more a collector at heart.
Also, I wish Microsoft was more competitive to be more of an issue for Sony. Increased competition helps everyone up their game.

@MrGawain This, I own a Series S with Gamepass Ultimate as well as my Switch. I'm torn, as it's great news for Nintendo, I mean who doesn't want portable Halo/Gears/Forza. Yet, Microsoft at the same time seems to be quickly loosing any reason to have one of their consoles..
Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy my Series S. For the price it's a fantastic piece of kit, but if all the unique games come to both PS5 and Switch 2 going forwards it's all a bit bizarre...
Microsofts new long term aim seems to have as many of their games on as many systems as possible...
Financially, it makes sense, with games costs rising, it seems like a sensible move perhaps, however, it's alienating many of their hard-core userbase as a result. It's like they are a third party developer which happens to have their own machine too... 🤣

Re: Analyst States That Switch 2's Price Won't "Really Matter" For Early Adopters

BANJO

@PikminMarioKirby This exactly, price does matter. It needs to be a certain price to sell. It will be a harder sell then the original Switch this time. We could have a 3DS situation on our hands if it's priced too high. In the UK if it's over £400.00 at launch it will struggle after the initial early adaptors buy it. I think it needs to be at about £350.00 long term, then after a couple of years a Switch 2 lite will need to release at £230.00 to keep sales going.

Re: UK Charts: Donkey Kong Barrels Past The Competition To Claim Gold

BANJO

@1UP_MARIO Same here, third time for me too. It plays just as well as before, and considering it's been a good few years since I last played it, it still feels fresh to me. (Perhaps I just have a bad memory )
Playing it in HD with a new lick of paint and the easy mode which enables my nephew to play too makes it well worthwhile. We fitted a good 6-7 hours in at the weekend.

Re: Reaction: Nintendo Pins Hopes On Familiar Fun With Switch 2

BANJO

Switch 2 is more of the same (which is great for me) with a graphical upgrade, refinements and perhaps a couple of small additions.
They are playing it safe, I can't blame them from coming off the back of the Switch's success.
Calling it Switch 2 avoids the pitfalls the Wii U had, making everyone clear it's the next gen system and not a add on. Third party support should be strong too from the start also.
It will sell well in my opinion, but nowhere near the the level of the original Switch's sales.
Others have played catch-up and are taking small chunks of the market for themselves, Lenovo, Steam and Sony obviously too.
Luckily they have very strong, unique and high selling IP to fall back on.
If they can launch with a Mario Kart within the launch window period this should get them off to a good start.
Comparing it to the 3DS seems very fitting, I think it will succeed but to a lesser degree..
65 - 70 million is my estimate for it's lifetime sales along with a five year lifespan compared to the Switch's 8.
Exciting times lie ahead, I'm intrigued to watch and see how Nintendo navigate the next few years and am happy to come along for the ride...

Re: Nintendo Is "Very Upset" About The Switch 2 Leaks, It's Claimed

BANJO

@Ogbert This exactly, they are only upset with the third party partners for showing it off at CES, that was probably a step too far for them.
Everything else they are probably quite pleased with, they have had free advertising hype for months, years to a degree really.

The exposure and free articles they have had are literally the sort of exposure that money can't buy...

We will all find out shortly anyway, I'm not sure what the fuss is. Nintendo will announce it before March the 31st as they have stated this in their financials, so the clock is clicking regardless.

We will find out soon enough

Re: Review: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD (Switch) - Aping A Retro Classic

BANJO

@betterman Me too, triple dipping so I can complete it again myself and use the added benefit of the easier difficulty for my young nephew to try it out as he has a Switch too.
For me it will be worth it, and for those on the fence, with it being a Nintendo first party title it will hold it's value, so it's well worth trying out in my opinion, even if you sell it later on.
