Standard controls are awful on Switch so I played it on Xbox. But I have now remapped the controls on Switch and it plays better. It's still a classic game, well worth playing again.
Playing it on Xbox for me. I tried it on Switch and it controls terribly in comparison to the Xbox version. Sorry but there is no getting around that Nintendo dropped the ball with this.
(Wide-screen support and better graphics also help)
@Faucet Exactly this. It's frankly disappointing on Switch but great on Xbox via Game Pass. It controls terribly on Switch along with much poorer graphics. Xbox is certainly the way to go if you have both options available.
The standard control setup is terrible on Switch, but much better on Xbox. Literally night and day unfortunately... Considering it took so long to get this game to be re-released you would think Nintendo could have sorted out the controls better.
Tried it out on both N64 Online and Gamepass today. It controls so much better on Xbox and with wide-screen and better graphics, that's the way I'll be playing through the single-player. The Xbox version is vastly superior I have to say.
No way launching this year... 2024 launch seems like a given to me. Perhaps in March 2024 (7 years to the month after the Switch) But when will it be announced?? Possibly Jan 2024 to ensure the Switch has one last big Christmas would be a good business move. 🤔
@Ogbert Thanks, I knew it was not many, although 5 is obviously better than 3.
All this talk of the original Splatoon is making me want to give the multiplayer a final few plays. My Wii U is still set up so that sounds like a good plan. Hopefully the online lobby's are still busy enough..
@masterLEON Your knowledge of the maps is a lot greater than mine, I don't know half of their names....😀 The maps you spoke about sound good if a little far off. I think the game needs to go back to how the original Splatoon released maps, a couple every fortnight seemed to release when that first came out. It kept the game fresh, although I'm aware Splatoon 3 launched with a lot more maps to begin with so it's a tad of an unfair comparison. (Splatoon was very bare bones at release, just a few maps possibly only 3 at launch) However, even just 1 new map a fortnight and a couple of weapons would help currently. It could be down to the fact this is the third iteration of the game and while it's improved greatly over the original it just needs something new to appeal to some of the longstanding fans of the series. I remember commenting upon the games release saying if the wheel's not broken don't try to fix it, yet here I am saying it now needs a change to spice it up.... 🤣 Ultimately a few more returning maps, music and weapons would help, let's hope they keep the updates coming. 🙏
I put nearly 3 hours into the Splatfest, apart from a few times being kicked out with others disconnecting it went well. I think the game could do with a couple of new or original Splatoon maps returning to add abit of variety going forwards..
@Mgalens Yes, I agree it seems like time and effort were put in but the hardware is the bottleneck for many developers now going forwards... We still are getting some well-running ports releasing, but the hardware is now in dire need of an update...
@mariomaster96 Yes, A port of the Wii U version I have. My Wii U version is the version in the green box with Luigi U included so it's a port of that.
I'm aware I now have it twice 😀
(I've also edited my post now I did put Wii and should have put Wii U)
Considering the limits of the Switch it seems like a solid port... However, it's obvious and has been for some time that a hardware upgrade is sorely needed now.
@KindofaBigDeal Yes, Xbox needs some heavy hitters quickly. I picked up one of those Series S's you mentioned when they went down to £189.00 around black Friday. It's a fantastic machine for the price, along with a Gamepass subscription. However, it now needs the exclusive games badly going forwards for it to hit it's stride. Forza Motorsport, Starfield, Redfall and really Hellblade 2 need to hit their 2023 release dates to help Microsoft push forwards this generation.
I suffered through the Wii U days like you, long droughts between games and poor third party support. I'm still glad I got one however, a great console even with all it's faults.
Your ideals for the Switch 2 are basically mine, more power, better joy-cons and backwards compatibility..
Certainly sounds like a good idea, I hope it's the route Nintendo takes...
@KindofaBigDeal 😂 I thought it was quite forward of me but it sums up the current situation. You can only sell something if it's in stock 😂
No doubt the stock issues for Sony has benefitted Nintendo. PS5 providing it resolves it's stock issues will nearly guarantee it to sell the most this year. (2023)
Switch is aging gracefully as you say, 2023 sales will be down but still relatively solid I would think. (Perhaps 13 to 15 million)
It's been a fantastic console and a real turning of the tide compared to the Wii U.
2024 should see the Switch successor release, I'm intrigued to see how Nintendo follow up upon the success of the Switch...
Time will tell...
Had the PS5 been readily available it would have sold the most but that's all part of the game itself, and Switch won this year... That's Sonys problem to solve, not Nintendos.
@Mauzuri Basically if you have a Switch it's a must have game. It appeals to virtually everyone as it's so easy to pick up and play and has all the dlc and upcoming dlc being promoted in adverts and via the expansion pass app... It seems to be forever ongoing at this point... 🤣🤣
@Drac_Mazoku I'm with you. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with the game. Another new course is a welcome addition which will bring me back to the game again along with the 7 new series to play. The game has been a solid buy..
It's a solid alternative to 1080, fun to pick up and play. Would make a great addition to the online expansion pack.. Speaking of which, we still haven't heard of any game for December... Is one due to release this month???
Other than the mountain of glitches what amazes me is the acceptance of the graphics... The elephant in the room for me is that Gamefreek simply massively struggle making an HD game. The move from handheld to TV has proved challenging for them to say the least. No Switch Pokemon game has been anything to look at, they are basically first wave PS3/Xbox 360 games, and that's being generous.....
Beeny is very DKC inspired, blatantly obvious. 🤣 However, I'm all for it, it looks great. Lots of precision jumping involved, so as long as it controls well it looks like a must have to me..
This looks great, I'm getting strong Banjo and vibes from the trailer.
The levels look to be a step up in detail over Toree/2, more polished... Very interested in this.
@Clyde_Radcliffe Same here, Sega seem to be boasting that it will be really difficult.. I just worry that Sega don't know what they are up to 🤣 I Hope they prove me wrong
Hmm, I hope the difficulty level isn't too hard... Remember your target audience Sega.. The statement that some bosses could be as hard as the final boss has me worried. So Sega is not targeting a young audience, at least I know now in advance not to buy it for my nephew for Christmas... Will you ever learn Sega..
@silverninja I think it's late 2022, so perhaps the second half of November onwards... The official word is that the release date will be announced soon. I wouldn't expect it to release before November as it stands, but you never know 🤷♂️
Usually wary of free to play but Asphalt 9 is and it's my most played game on Switch which is by Gameloft. The same people are making this so I'm actually really looking forward to it...
Splatoon 3 for me. My copy came late in the post (only got it Tuesday) so have been playing catch up with all those day one players the last few days.. I feel abit rusty.
It's a great game, more of the same like Splatoon 2 but tinkered to perfection. It should keep me busy for a while. 👍
Other than that, playing Forza Horizon 5 is my current go to for a few quick races in between playing the Splatoon 3 multiplayer...
@Wexter I think your right about 2024 for the Switch successor to be released. I'm thinking the second half of the year as it stands. However, Switch sales continue to be very strong, if sales don't slow down too much a 2025 release for Switch 2 might be on the cards instead... Depends on Nintendos strategy and whether or by how much they decide to discount the hardware nearer the end of it's life.. Nintendo knows they have a "cash cow" with the Switch so might try to extend the life cycle even further... Time will tell.
Plenty of content for sure, Goldeneye, Kirby, Fatal Frame and the Zelda release date are the highs for me. More Beyonetta 3 footage always welcome, and Pikmin 4 for 2023 should be good.. We just need some actual footage of the game to be really hyped..
Glad I never picked this up... The game seemed to have so little content at launch and now that content is slowly being added most people have moved on... To little too late Nintendo.... You dropped the ball with this release.
Simply "missed setting up a file that was required." 🤣🤣🤣 Along with simply forgot to ship all the games that everyone paid for months ago... Could this company be any more shambolic if it tried... Seriously, they are pathetic..
Graphics certainly looked to be turned up a notch on the first. 45+hours on Switch and 15 plus on Xbox for the first game so I'm looking forward to this...
The game is already unique in my eyes with it's paint shooting, improving and tweaking the already great ideas is fine with me. I don't expect them to reinvent the wheel when it works already... Providing it's polished and has plenty of content day one with more added regularly I'll be happy. Bring it on!!
Throughly enjoyed this on Wii U and even got it again on Switch on a wim and still play it occasionally. Very good game. But certainly it's time for a sequel now...
Some of the tracks do miss that flair the base game has but I never expected to get them so for me they are still great... 48 more tracks.. That's alot, they still play well and are fun, so overall I'm happy..
It all looks great to me. Plenty of content at launch, everything I've seen looks fantastic. Pre-ordered it months ago, but this just solidifys it. I don't think we have anything to worry about, the game will be great. For anyone saying it's just more maps, I disagree, you don't need to reinvent the wheel if it already works... Changing the formula or deviating from what made Splatoon/2 great would be a wrong turn in my view. The additions are good and just further progress the already working formula from what I've seen. I'm looking forward to it. 😄

Great entry at number 1. Sales will plummet next week as it's a niche title but still a great result for the franchise.
Re: Random: It's Now Been 6 Years Since Zelda: BOTW's 'Switch Presentation' Trailer Released
The trailer was virtually perfect. The game basically single handedly launched the Switch off to a flying start which it never looked back from.
