Re: Official Box Art For Kirby Air Riders Revealed, Price And File Size Confirmed

AussieMcBucket

@Dang_69 Ahhh, okay. How confusing. Haha.
As far as I know, the only connection with HAL is that they asked him to make it. And as you say, they own Kirby rights. And I think the Good-Feel games are usually published by Nintendo. But I'm not sure. Okay, yes. Nintendo publishes their games with Nintendo properties in them.

Wikipedia does not have HAL associated with Riders at all, for what that's worth.

@Sonicka I felt the same way, though I never played the first game. Too bad this is 70USDTP.

I agree with you about the length vs. content. Like you said before, it somehow simultaneously showed a lot and a little.

And I was thinking the same thing about City Trial. I guess more could come in DLC? He does love developing that. 😋

@chardir Oh, did the US stream have dubs? I watched it through this site, so it may have been the UK feed. Or are you talking about the main Directs, which I know they dub? I feel like I'm being a whiny American - everyone speak my language, I don't want to learn or accept other cultures! - but I'm just pointing out the difficulty with having the video on in the background or with something like this that has tons of footage to watch carefully. Though perhaps to your point, how would they dub it for everyone?

@Kingy Yes, he does. And I don't really like it. I'm not entirely sure how to verbalize it, but I feel like they're too much one direction or another.
And I suppose that is personal preference. I feel like there is a ton of personality and fun with MKW. I just get bored of racing games, because it just ends up being the same thing over and over again. And I have no interest in improving my times or anything like that. Like, I wish when you increased the difficulties a la CC, that it also changed the courses in some way, just to add more variety. But anyway.

Yeah, I do like the achievements. I wish Switch 2 had implemented them across their system.

@Suketoudara Fair point about 2003 releases. Though I would argue that snowboarding stands apart, being different enough from the others yet still technically a racer. And also, would you argue that hurt the sales of at least half of those titles? I'm sure Double Dash sold relatively well, though I think it was one of the lowest-selling MK's ever? 1080 got a sequel not long after (right?), so maybe that did okay. No more F-Zero. And I don't think Air Ride sold well. We're basically getting this sequel as a passion project.

@1UP_MARIO I know, right? Not to be English-speaking-centric, but it's tough to watch a stream like this and read the subtitles. I kind of wish they dubbed them. It made me not watch much of his YouTube videos, because I wanted to have them on in the background, listening to his insight into a variety of topics. Oh well. Personal problems, to be sure.

Everyone complains about fanboys for Nintendo, but it feels like Sakurai gets that in droves. I totally dig his freshness and candor. And a lot of his games can be very fun. I honestly don't like the systems he implements in basically all of his games. They're virtually the same. I did enjoy Uprising. And Smash, to a point. But there is something about it that felt like a bit of a drag to progress through the game. And this just seems a bit dull. Could be fun for a while, but it seems like it would get tiresome. Though I'm not a huge racing fan. I'm not really getting the instant adoration for this game, but it seems like Sakurai has the Midas touch for a lot of people. To each their own though. I'm glad people are excited. Just sharing my thoughts. I hope everyone enjoys it. The game does feel weird alongside Mario Kart and as the (?) big holiday game. A demo would be cool to get a better feel for myself.

Re: Kirby Air Riders Direct Revealed for Tomorrow, 19th August 2025

AussieMcBucket

I saw this on Nintendo Today and was like, "45 minutes?!"
So is Sakurai going to go through each control input, highlight each character, demonstrate multiple gameplay scenarios, etc.? Like in the Smash Bros. Directs.
Still, what?? It seems like a lot of time to only focus on a sequel to Kirby Air Ride. I have never really played that game, so I guess I'll see how this looks. From what I understand, Air Ride wasn't even very good, so I've been confused why there is so much excitement for this sequel.
Also, I have to say: Nintendo showing little Partner Showcase and Indie World Directs and now an entire 45-minute-long Direct focused solely on Air Riders... it feels like they are stretching things out to bide time for themselves. I don't know if they're having trouble getting things developed or what, but it's starting to seem like it.

Re: Anniversary: n-Space & Nintendo's M-Rated GameCube Gem Is 20 Years Old

AussieMcBucket

Yes, I remember this game! I don't think I ever played it though, but I do remember wanting to. Maybe I read about it in Nintendo Power or saw it shown at E3.

I'm glad the developers kept their ideas and used them in Ghost Trick.

Hey, Wikipedia says that Nintendo owns the Geist franchise, as of 2005 (!). So, unless that's changed, maybe we could see this on Nintendo Classics at some point!

Re: First Impressions: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Is An Attempt To Catch The Hardcore Again

Still kind of curious about this, and a little more now. So, what makes this different from the mainline games? I didn't get to play Arceus, but that seemed noticeably different. This almost looks like it's bridging the gap between Arceus and say, Scarlet and Violet. Are they in fact doing this? What sorts of things make Z-A stand apart? I haven't played Pokemon for a long time.

Re: Tekken 8 On Switch 2 Would Be "A Lot Of Work", But Director Isn't Ruling It Out

Also, to everyone treating his comments as if it's a matter of effort: I'm pretty sure he's talking about cost vs. reward, a business decision. Still, I feel like too many developers punt too quickly at the mere thought of Switch (or, frankly, most Nintendo consoles in the past 20 years) ports. And it's unfortunate when they make comments like this, because it does have an effect on the general discord around the console.
