@Beetlebum91 Ohhh, of course. I knew that. I was stuck on business title acronyms. No, it doesn't matter at all. That goes without saying. Hm, maybe it should go with saying. :/ But I also submit that it would still be different with a woman. I'm talking societal stigmas and prejudices. For an example, see how America elected Obama yet absolutely balked twice at a woman president. That's not a perfectly concrete bit of evidence, but I do think it matters. Heck, black men were allowed to vote (at a diminished representation) before any women were given the constitutional right.
@Yoshi3 Iwata was in corporate planning before becoming CEO. And he was hand-picked by Hiroshi Yamauchi.
Also, Reggie oversaw their sales and marketing before assuming his CEO position. As did Doug Bowser before him. Shibata still manages marketing for the company.
I think we all ought to appreciate that Fils-Aimé and Iwata were a rarity in any company. They shared a very close and good-working relationship, and they were both very public-facing with big, charming personalities. That is atypical. I miss it too, but I'm not sure we should knock others for not being them. Adjust our expectations for leadership in business? Sure! But Doug Bowser probably did his job well, just not in the way that his predecessor did.
@Suketoudara You're making some interesting observations. You could be right about the PR situation. But I'm not sure Japan has the secret fix for America's issues. No offense to them. I just think there may be some cultural differences, particularly in business. And yeah, when I clicked the link you shared, I saw who this guy is. He always seemed cool with Europe. So maybe it will be overall a positive thing. Obviously we're all just speculating.
@NatiaAdamo What's POC? President of Company? Hopefully you're right. That could be, but she does have executive experience. Seems a little unnecessary. Reggie and Doug held the same roles she had before taking the big chairs.
@Suketoudara She's been named as the COO. But it might be technically a step lower. I was thinking the same thing about this NCL guy being sent in. Perhaps it's just for assistance - though hopefully not because she's a woman - but I'm not sure exactly what was showing warning signs at NOA.
I wish they had spaced out the different game releases - assuming development allowed it - so we could work our way up to the newest one. That being said, and I hope this holds up, it's really great that we're getting REquiem on the same date as the other consoles.
I agree with your opinion of it, Jim. I thought it was decently fun. But it did feel like every other hero shooter I've played, which is probably only Overwatch, come to think of it. 🤔 But this one used Star Wars theming. I'm sort of surprised it was so disliked.
The combat sounds great! Thanks foe breaking it down for us. I haven't played a main Pokémon title in years, but now I'm quite curious about this one. Should I play Arceus first?
This is a bummer. Let's hope that it turns out to be for the best in the end, and we all get a great version for Switch 2. At least they're willing to take the time to try.
I enjoyed the interjections from what I assume are various characters' phrases in the game. 😂 This looks good, and they are really committing to the remakes with additions and enhancements! I had a ton of fun with the demo for IX, but that's pretty much the only DQ I've played. I'm thinking maybe I should check out III (the first, as I understand it) at some point.
Great response to the first letter. Thank you for explaining how commerce works.
I feel like many of us are reacting to these things with a very self-focused perspective. Perhaps a lot of us here bought and played the 3D All-Stars Collection on Switch, but there are probably a lot of people that have also never played it. That collection was a limited-time thing, besides, as we are well aware. So to them, a 70 USD package with two of the best Mario games ever (a somehow meaningful and meaningless distinction at the same time) is amazing value. At least Nintendo is offering them separately. It seems to me that we could all do well to remember that Nintendo is not making decisions for each of us as individuals.
It's sad, because it would have been Day One for me... ... but it's a Game-Key Card, so no way. I'll just get it on Steam or PS5 instead. Better graphics there, anyway.
Okay, so they're both Namco/Bandai Namco games. And they're a super close partner of Nintendo. I was wondering how/why we got third-party releases - not that we never have!
"A bit more information?" I think you mean ANY information. I think the only thing we've learned about the game, aside from gleaning some things from footage, is that she has psychic powers. And that's basically all we know about those, she has them. I hope it gets an individual Direct and we see a big marketing push for the holidays, because man, right now it feels like no wonder that Metroid games don't reach massive sales numbers.
I know y'all have tons of things to manage as it is, but it would be cool if after an update like this, you might offer even just brief, new impressions of the game if not an outright updated review. Mind you, this is just a thought, not at all a demand. I'm pleased with the work you all do, as it is.
@SwitchplayerJohn Totally right. And your last point is a really good one. I hadn't considered that about Steam Deck. Even with Steam on a PC, those are all digital copies.
@HammerKirby It's also the cost of physical marketing, and companies pay for retail space and displays and all that. Packaging, licensing, etc. Not just the cartridges proper. It's the same in principle for physical discs. It's way too much. It's soured the whole thing in many ways. I'm waiting for it to die down, so we can all get to enjoying things. The Switch 1 had a fair amount of positivity for a Nintendo console - for once - until its later years, and then the complaints about inferiority grew even more widespread and louder.
@breach187 I agree about the pricing. I don't understand why they are not different price levels. Obviously physical versions cost more money to produce, so... It's a bit ridiculous.
@HammerKirby Yes, that is true. I just think that people can be endlessly insatiable. Perhaps that's redundant. I see it a lot in the gaming community. I think this person's comments are meant to explain the business side of GKCs. Obviously, it will upset many consumers, though I don't think that was his goal. Still, I think the outrage about this is dramatically out of proportion.
@N00BiSH Ohhh, okay. Thank you for responding. I only played the demo, but I didn't really think it was for me. Honestly, I'm loving Wario Land 3. I know Antonblast is based off of 4, but I don't like the mechanic that much.
@Dman10 I've been banging this drum for a week or two. People just bought Silksong with no hesitation. Does anyone actually "own" their copy? What happens when the servers are shut down? No more access. Updates, DLC, nope.
@GrailUK Because Nintendo wasn't asking for Game-Key Cards. The other companies were. Or some sort of middle-of-the-road solution. I keep saying, this is to help ensure that Switch 2 users get as many third-party games as possible for the system. People are getting mad at the wrong group.

Re: Are You "Unsure" About Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade For Switch 2? Don't Worry, There'll Be A Demo
I've never played this in any form, so I'm psyched for a demo! Now to clear ~50GB of space for it...

@Yoshi3 Where would you expect the COO to come from? It sounds like an extremely logical step to me.

@Summer235 That's what I'm thinking. It seems rather unprecedented in the gaming industry, overall.
