Re: We Might Have Just Got Our Best Look At Link In The Legend Of Zelda Movie

@VoidofLight From the box art, it appears he kept it in his right. Unless you could choose or something. But yeah, you're right.

I don't think we need to worry about that approach with this movie. The Mario games are all about being silly and having fun. While Zelda has those elements, it's more epic in its approach. "Legend" and all that. I would also like them to do an original story and setting for this. But I'm sure they will pull from all the games, because why not? Fans want that, too.

Re: Dang, We Got An Elden Ring Movie Release Date Before The Switch 2 Port

AussieMcBucket

@Rpg-lover Yeah, who knows? Maybe we'd get a refresh of all the previous titles before VI's release.
It's in both Nintendo and Rockstar's interest to get a Switch 2 version. And it would be a prime selling point for the new(er) console and it's user base. Maybe it wouldn't be possible. But I could see them trying really hard to make it work. I hope we get it. We shall see.

@VoidofLight I think we can expect such a melange of influences/references/styles from each of the games, unless they feel like they're adapting a specific story from one specific game. Which I don't think I want. A mash-up seems good to me, and I expect that's what they'll do, particularly if the Mario movies are any indication.

Ugh, I can see that becoming a huge point of controversy for the eventual movie's release. The "purists" will cry foul about Link's "handedness." Can't we all just agree that he's ambidextrous? And hasn't he been right-handed since the Wii?

Yeah, I'd bet it was like a storyboard mockup or whatever, just to give them a thematic emblem for the production. But maybe that's the look they're going for! The cape gives him an LOTR style.
And "Umami" must have been the secret project name or whatever I'm trying to say. I never know if those are mostly random or if there is some story behind the choice for the name. Kinda funny with this one.

Also, that patch is amazing. So, so cool. Does anyone know, are those things usually printed, or is it stitched? It's hard to tell in the photo; it does seem to have some texture.

Re: Xbox Is Reportedly Having "Very Big Discussions" About Exclusivity

AussieMcBucket

I mean, I get the argument that not having any exclusives hurts their console business. I feel like there are merits to both strategies. Or they could make a console and experience that stands apart from the rest. That's what Nintendo has done for years. Of course, they also arguably have the industry's best exclusive franchises. I feel like - but please correct me if I'm mistaken about this - Xbox probably doesn't do as well globally, and that makes it tough to compete with Sony and Nintendo. I know the US is a huge market, but the rest of the world ain't nothin'. I had a feeling this might happen with their business strategy when they announced the change in leadership and a "return" and "commitment" to Xbox. I guess we'll see what they do.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda Live-Action Movie Has Officially Wrapped Filming

AussieMcBucket

@Metazoxan Yeah, I guess that could be some of it. It's just such an overreaction, the anger about the movies. They're not bad, just relatively simple and fun. I honestly want to know what people were expecting. And I would like someone to write an example plot that those movies "deserve." It would be strange to flesh out some sort of deeper story. The games and their continuity has mostly the same beats every time, and they're light and silly and fun. Mission accomplished.

I think it's also the fact that people love to trash Nintendo, especially recently.
Entitlement, an apparent inability to be satisfied, arrogance. These sentiments seem to be common.

I just hope that I enjoy the Zelda movie anyway. I hope most people do, of course, but I'm not holding my breath. And either way, it means nothing outside of being a disappointing movie. They'll still make their games, and they'll still be great. We can (try to) have both.
