We'll see if the third (?) time really is the charm. I can't wait for them to release a $700 handheld console that requires $80+ games with no physical media and then to hear the raging complaints from the gaming community about it. Because why wouldn't they, right? Right??

These are only useful for when a game first releases. Otherwise, their games go on sale for 33% off, which is usually around at least a $20 discount per game. But the vouchers drop the price by $10.

They got it up to 1080p at 30fps docked?
I guess because they enhanced all the textures and whatnot. Is that 28 GB for the entire Switch 2 Edition or just for the upgrade?

@topsekret Okay, so because 120 is divisible by 40 and 60 is not, the Switch 2 display is able to offer that improved frame rate. And you're saying that any higher FPS is an improvement, even if it's just by 10.

Could someone explain why 40 would be better than 30? Or is it simply because that's a higher number and therefore draws more frames at a time?

@Athropos That's kind of what I was thinking. 60fps was the target, they weren't hitting it, so they decided to lock it at 30 instead?

@SalvorHardin I think they're misfiring on the "standing out." It stands out in a bad way, if at all. People struggle with the name and forget about it. And it doesn't tell you anything about the game or intrigue you in any way.

I wish there were some sort of upgrade path or discount if you own the original game. I'm not sure I want to buy the whole game all over again, for almost the same system.

I wonder what the hang-ups would be in these conversations. Like, as long as it can work well on the console, why not? I mean, I guess they both want to make sure it can sell and all that. So maybe they discuss cost- and revenue-sharing, marketing duties, etc. And perhaps, as we've seen rumored, Nintendo wants to make sure it has some qualities built in to really put the new system's capabilities to good use. Otherwise, I don't know why they wouldn't just give a green light to a (popular and successful) FF title from Square Enix.

It's interesting that we are getting some reveals for S2 of multi-console games, seemingly pushing back a bit on the idea that Nintendo is holding these off until a Direct or something in their control. And yet, we aren't getting the ones that everyone has been thinking/hoping/waiting of/for. I'm quite excited about what has been revealed for S2, but it is odd to me otherwise.
