Wired Productions and developer Caged Element have announced that GRIP, an upcoming futuristic racing game, will be heading to Nintendo Switch this year.
Currently available as a Steam Early Access title, GRIP was inspired by the Rollcage games of the late '90s, aiming to deliver a super-fast, hugely competitive racing experience alongside gravity defying physics and a bristling arsenal of outlandish weapons.
Evolved from the age of street racing, the world of GRIP is designed to be brutal and cut-throat to the core. You'll be scaling walls, ceilings and anything else you can get your tyres on to as you master every track, performing various stunts to race your way across the cosmos. In-game options will allow you to customise your vehicle, and thanks to the game's destructible environments you can ensure not only victory, but the complete annihilation of your opponents.
No specific release date or prices have been confirmed just yet, but we'll make sure to keep an eye out for this one when it lands later this year.

One of my good friends growing up had rollcage and we spent the hours battling in that game after school. This looks awesome, can't wait for this one!
Awesome! Was a big fan of Rollcage on the PS1 and have been waiting for the console release of this. Wasn't expecting a Switch release, at least not at the same time as PS4/X1.
Yeah that is really Rollcage. Not that that's a problem, fine game back in the day.
Based on that hip RC racer you had as a kid that could tear across your living room carpet, drive up the wall, then flip over and keep going due to its massive tires! Extreme!!!
Looks cool though.
This has my heart racing! My kind of game!
Y'all aren't F-Zero, stop teasing me like this.
Yes. Yes. All of my yes. The era of crazy racers is coming back!
YESsirreebob!
When I was a child rollcage it was one of my favorite games. I will definitely buy this one
Oh, didn't expect this to come to Switch. Very nice.
Now I want OnRush as well after seeing the trailer for other systems.
Kinda like an ExciteTruck semi-sequel.
I really miss ExciteTruck...
Big fan og the original games on the Playstation, big fan on the easly access progress the team has been doing for the past years. really looking forward to this, there aren't enough good arcade racers on the system.
Superb, I'd never heard of it before but this announcement makes me a happy man. Love games like this.
looking forward to this game for quite some time now. i don't buy early access titles though. might get it when it's finally finished for PC
Could be good, but none/barely of that trailer was actual in-race gaming, just replay engine.
Looks pretty slick... one to keep on my radar.
This looks great so far. I’ll be keeping a keen eye on this beauty. We need more racers on Switch. Bring ‘em on
Looks good to me.
Looks nice. Very tempted.
I never got the chance to play Rollcage so I may try this one.
So this isn't a port of a mobile game?
Phew, that means there's a chance that it'll be only somewhat bad.
Inspired by Rollcage seems to be quite the understatement. I'd say it's either heavily inspired by it, or simply call it a reboot, because for all intents and purposes, it IS Rollcage.
Having said that, both Rollcage 1 & 2 were great games back in the day (had them on PC, because the PSX versions looked like crap) and I would welcome a reboot/revisit/remake/tribute, as long as the gameplay is also as solid as the originals.
This is one game I'm looking forward to.
loved rollcage, cant wait
Wow, can't wait to try this hope they consider a demo !
That's a brilliant logo!
Looks pretty cool to me!
Nice, Looks good. The pace and insane speeds remind me of Trackmania....I wish ubisoft would bring it to switch.
My kinda racing game!
Not sure if I like the look of it or not. Hopefully there will be a demo as I'm undecided by the trailer.
Hope it has local multiplayer. I'm getting tired of seeing racing games (mostly on PS4 and Xbox One to be fair) that are online only if you want to race your friends. That will be THE selling point for me right now, because as much as I love Mario Kart, I need something different now that I can play with my friends. I recall back in the day Rollcage had a pretty fun demo, maybe I'll snuff out a copy and check it out before this drops, it's been about 20 years.
This looks like replays post-race... I want to see some in-game racing before I decide to buy
The logo is the same upside down and right side up.... pretty cool. Graphic design nerd here...
