Developer DoubleMoose - a studio featuring Armin Ibrisagic, one of the devs who brought you practical joke turned actual gaming hit, Goat Simulator - has announced its upcoming physics-based adventure game Animal Super Squad is coming to Nintendo Switch.
The game is the first creation to come out a deal between DoubleMoose and Revelmode, a media company owned by Felix 'PewDiePie' Kjellberg. The platformer - which is currently in Early Access on Steam and is centering its experience on the potential community-driven power of its level editor - is all about sending chicken, a fish, or a sloth across a level in attempt to survive its Trials-esque, physics-based dangers in one piece.
No word yet on when the game will eventually be gracing the Nintendo Switch eShop. Here's a trailer from the game's launch on PC, but keep in mind its gameplay isn't necessarily representative of what the final product might be on Switch.
What's your take on Animal Super Squad? Will it tempt you with its animalistic charm? Share your thoughts with us below...

I dont care about PDP, either of em, but I like these devs. This looks up my alley, and I really like the art.
Please let this discussion not go in the direction I expect it will go... Please let this discussion not go in the direction I expect it will go...
I guess it's a good thing that my Switch backlog is so stacked with awesome games right now. This way, I can safely pass on anything with that guy's name attached to it, even if it turns out to be actually good.
A substantial no from me.
Gameboy Switch?? Sony Gameplace 4?? 😳🤔
Looks kinda fun I guess.
Hard pass.
Simply no.
Looks like it would straddle between fun and frustrating.
PDP is involved or will profit - even if it’s the next Zelda I’ll pass thanks.
Horrid little snake of human being.
I can't tell you how excited I am to have another opportunity to not buy a PewDiePie game.
@Muddy_4_Ever Too late!
PewDiePie hate is even less mature than his online persona... which is just that. Dislike for him (there) shouldn’t imply he is producing garbage in the form of software?
I mean successful entrepreneurs are an easy target for vitriol but don’t tell me it’s justified.
Does he use full-on racial slurs in this game, or does he keep it clean and stick to the non-rhotic variants?
Wont be supporting anything with PewDiePie's involvement. This is a hard pass for me.
@OptometristLime The hate isn't because he's successful. It's because of how casually he makes racist and sexist jokes. Not disliking him is the sign of immaturity.
I wouldn't give a cent to anything that has to do with PewDiePie.
Is that the racist guy or am I not remembering right?
A big fat nope
@PanurgeJR
Actually I find knee jerk reactionary measures to be immature but that’s just me. xD
EWWWWW
Let me know when Markiplier has a game, then we'll talk. Not going to give one dime to PDP.
@OptometristLime I wouldn't describe immediately reacting to racism by rejecting it as "knee-jerk". I'd describe it as having developed proper sensibilities.
Love felix, definitely buying the game to support him.
@PanurgeJR
Since you are up on the situation I assume you are aware he has retracted those statements. And it’s further likely that you don’t accept his apology.
Hopefully you are equally fastidious towards other personalities who make mistakes. Otherwise I find this whole discourse entirely hypocritical. Forgive me but I don’t think black and white judgements are apt in many situations, particularly for our hobby which doesn’t typically search for high morals in eating mushrooms and flinging sloths.
@OptometristLime Of course I don't accept his apology; I've learned enough to recognize insincerity when I see it. He has not learned from his mistakes, he won't learn from them, and casual racism remains a fundamental part of his personality. There is nothing hypocritical about recognizing that and rejecting it.
@PanurgeJr okay i was with you on the insincere apology and not learning from his past mistakes, but you totally lost me on the casual racism being a fundamental part of his personality? I just really dont see it.
@OptometristLime @PanurgeJr - This whole argument reminds me of people wanting to lynch the one involved with the vinyl release of Earthworm Jim a bit back because it somehow supports the original creator (who by this time isn't even remotely involved in games let alone cartoons) and his ass hattery.
I would assume you would also hold these developers responsible for enabling him to further any form of career post YouTube?
@PanurgeJr Bruh chill one mistake doesnt define a person as a whole
PDP rocks! He may have a future in politics. He has my vote.
The game itself looks like it could be good for some laughs. I'll keep my eye on this one. At the right price I might give it a try.
@Paraka
Or how about the whole JonTron controversy where the developers were so fearful of an opinion that (contrary to the whims of their market) made the decision to retract his voice from the game. For fear of incensing a delicate audience with an allusion to the realities of our world.
@OptometristLime - I'll do you one better. Anita Sarkeesian.
She was involved (Though no one knows for how much) with the Mirrors Edge Catalyst. People latched to that and the game studio (Though it is ultimately an EA game) and boycott it due to her name somewhere there. The game did turn out to be garbage which ultimately served as a testament to such reputations. Though, again, it was an EA game.
The observation is many who defended the "influence" was not a thing you should boycott a game over are also the ones literally doing a hypocritical action of boycotting a game due to PDP's personal involvement.
I refuse to fund PDP's edgelord nazism.
@Piritiup Except when it isn't a genuine mistake and is just a manifestation of that person's actual views. There is no evidence suggesting he accidentally arranged the anti-Semitic video in question, all the while innocently thinking it was just in good fun. Only a complete fool would go through that and not realize it was a problem, and even then, such a person should definitely not have the kind of widespread influence and following Kjellberg has.
Didn't even know this insufferable idiot was even in the game dev business.
I think it's complete garbage. Is the Switch really so desperate that Nintendo has to resort to either baiting to get attention for it or relying on pseudo-celebrities? No, not hardly. I think the time and attention given this game would be better spent on some of those devs who try and fail to get Nintendo's attention. Seriously disappointed in the company, as well as Sony and Microsoft.
@FionnTheBrave - Wait... Are... Are we now blaming Nintendo for PDP's personal actions? How far does the walk of shame have to go for him? Do they need to make public statements about anything controversial strikes up on social media within an arms length of the gaming industry?
@FionnTheBrave I dislike PewDiePie as much as the next guy and I'm definitely not buying his game but your statement makes little to no sense unless it's a joke.
What do any of the 3 companies have anything to do with this game coming to their platforms..?
It's like blaming Bill Gates because this game is being developed for PC as well. Hell, why not blame Steve Jobs too while we're at it.
A man in his 20's from Sweden that is so westernized that he is incapable of making any jokes that are not considered shallow and has no actual decent input on the games he plays, that alone is the reason I have no respect for him.
His fanbase and his controversial presence aside, I think there are hundreds of YouTube channels to watch people "let's playing" games over his. I'm mindboggled as to why he's even still relevant at all, let alone having his own studio producing games.
Now I will admit I did have Goat Simulator on PS4 before I even knew his involvement and despite its trashy framerate and intentionally glitchy gameplay, there is a game in there somewhere. I even got a Platinum trophy for it years ago. I just don't think it's worth investing your money into this when there's going to be thousands of better alternatives with better games and supporting better developers - not from a brand that lives off a name just to build reputation, but a brand that lives off reputation built on quality.
@Varkster My statement means I'm disappointed that they agreed to host the game? Not sure why it's so difficult to understand. Games get denied all the time.
@Paraka Yes, in so far as their curating allows a too-well-known anti-Semite to market his game on their platform. Seems pretty self-explanatory to me. Fire Allison Rapp for her stance on child sex that basically no one knew about outside the company, yet welcome Jew haters. I didn't say they should make statements about him or whatever, just that being a bit more discerning wouldn't hurt. Hopefully that helps clarify what I meant.
@FionnTheBrave Games are denied from the eShop nowadays only if their quality and budget are lower than low. The reason that is is because we had a lot of shovelware titles developed by single 14 year old boys in basements which flooded the eShop with trash and would effectively turn off some people from actually buying digital games on the Wii U.
This may not be a masterpiece, but it clearly is a game that has at least a basic understanding of production values. Like it or not, there's no way a game with such high promise of sales (even if it is surrounded by controversy) is going to be denied by the Switch eShop. 1000+ games in the Switch's first year should spell that out pretty clearly.
@FionnTheBrave - So should Nintendo be concerned over anyone playing games on Twitch and Youtube in future concerns about what they may or may not say that can eventually land in their field?
And let me get this straight, you're also upset over Allison Rapp being fired? Even with what you perceive was the reason you're stating as truth?
You can consider me all-aboard the 'Firm No' train as well!
@Paraka Um, no. It was meant as a rhetorical device, and apparently didn't work for you. And there is a substantial difference between people playing their games and potentially being connected to Nintendo and choosing to create a partnership with a problematic company. I don't think we're arguing on the same page here...so yeah.
The problem with PDP is he used casual racism and anti semitism to further his own ends. He knew it would be controversial, garner colum inches, but worked on the basis of all news is good news. His 'apology' is not acceptable as he knew what he was doing from the word go. Although he acts like it he is not a child. He works in the media and PR and he made the decision to drum up publicity for himself in the most inflamatory way possible, using the get out clause of only joking, I'm sorry, won't d it again. Well at least not until he needs just that little bit more publicity. He's not an idiot. He's a self serving, arrogant, .... Those who defend him really want to think about whether they'd be happy for their younger relatives to listen to his nonsense when he next decides to do his Frankie Boyle for 12 year olds routine.
@Varkster True, but I still don't see why they can't just let it pass. Like I said originally, and as you pointed out, the Switch doesn't need this game, so it wouldn't hurt to quietly deny it. If it brings a lot of revenue, it's because of his following, not the game's merit, which is its own problem because that's Nintendo--and others--trying to profit off of toxicity. Which is what I said to begin with. Yes, I know they aren't the only ones, etc etc, there's no way to manage business partners and so on. But still.
@FionnTheBrave - Actually we, are, that would imply some cherry-picking situations. As being more heavily involved they can help assist in dodging other controversial people and pseudo-celebrities. The problem is you do not have this feeling that's strongly connected to one person. You're concern is fair-weather, if truly felt. You're concerned of the what has happened and desire "satisfactory" punishment of this person from sources that weren't even effected at the time of his action cause of his action alone.
And we're just outright ignoring the others who are developing this game, where they may not even consider PDP a lucrative prospect, may seen this as a job to further fill their team's development library. They deserve as much hate for this game and PDP's personal racism as PDP does.
More curious, if you had full control of his future, what would you feel is "satisfactory" punishment to his crime?
@FionnTheBrave You rly cant get a joke cant u? You rly are triggered
@FionnTheBrave As you stated in a comment - Nintendo gets a profit from this game. And no, they won't get a profit off people that consider PewDiePie obnoxious and controversial (as seen in the comments above nobody wants to buy it), but people that are genuinely interested in his figure, the developers or the game will buy it.
It doesn't make sense for Nintendo to just scrap and not let a game onto the eShop just because it is associated with somebody widely disliked on YouTube. It's profitable for them, profitable for the team and it's also a +1 to the eShop library, even if the quality is sub-par.
People that don't want to support the game can stay their hand and not spend money on it. It's that simple. Not allowing additional revenue even if its minor is just bonkers even for Nintendo.
@FionnTheBrave Another small thing: IF, say, Nintendo doesn't allow PDP's game on the eShop - the most likely outcome will be PDP getting even more attention and PR than he would off this one game.
You bet he's going to make it very public and make some sob story that will effectively lure people to his side of the argument and increase awareness of himself and the game as well as lowering Nintendo's reputation in the industry. There would absolutely be no way that this would end in a good manner I assure you.
I created an account just to say this,
Pewdiepie is not a bigot, not a racist, not an anti-Semite, he's actually quite a nice person who's just trying to make fun, satirical videos for people to enjoy, and he's usually quite apolitical. Not supporting this game on moral grounds is an exercise in futility because there's nothing to protest. He always apologizes when he slips up and isn't trying to hurt anyone.
I'd be floored if someone was able to show me a legitimate statement made by Pewdiepie not in the name of satire or humor, that is blatantly, harmful and completely unapologetic .
Support the devs, and don't be afraid to change your point of view.
Kind of feel bad for Pewdiepie. He seems like a nice guy.
alot of salty politically correct sjws definitely a buy 😂
Even I will admit I'm not in favour of censorship. Gotta admit I'm VERY disappointed in NintendoLife. They used PDP's name in the article when they didn't need to. They could have just mentioned the game and the developers. By highlighting PDP's involvement it was obvious it would get up some peoples backs. So they get a bit of controversy going, big numbers chatting. The by-product is NintendoLife gets discussions going about subjects that are ill suited to their 'family friendly' site. And so we all, on both sides of the argument, fall into their media savvy trap and by association PDP.
it is one mindless low budget trash after another.
@Tini213 Problem I have with him is not how satire he is or how racist he is. Frankly, don't care about that stuff simply because I know it backfires on him in the end and they are his choices which he makes.
Whether he apologizes for his actions - it's a bit backwards to use as an excuse for all the sh** he says, simply because it's in his best interests to apologize to keep on top of PR and his fanbase. View it however you want but his name became a franchise now, I think he can be far more professional than that, but these are my thoughts.
Anyway, the biggest issue I see with him is no matter how much he's trying to appeal to the younger crowd, his behavior and way of speech comes nothing close to appealing. In fact as I said before, he is obnoxious and annoying. If I see somebody like him in public when I'm trying to meet people at a bar or at clubs, I would be very tempted to throw a punch. You can be very satire with humor that requires a bit more brain to understand and not relying on making weird faces and sh**talking like he is of the same age as his fanbase. A guy who acts 10 years below what he should act is not appealing to me or anybody I know. Maybe we just grew out of it.
@Sakura7 have to agree with you there man.
I think we also revealed the kind of hive mind that associates even the appearance of a "bad thing" with the actual evil. Evidence of mocking a German political party becomes the real thing. And indeed, true manifestations of the dark side of humanity are growing in dark corners while people are distracted with bickering and in-fighting.
@mist No spam please. Thank you.
hey guys every day you exist in the modern technological world, you support oil and gas companies that cause unimaginable ecological disaster, global food companies like Monsanto and Nestle that destroy global water resources and more, companies like Google and Facebook that are both selling your private information and handing it over to governments for free, and ISPs and cell phone companies who take your monthly payments and use that same money to try to take away even more of your rights and privacy. If you listen to music or watch movies, you are supporting a LOT of people who have done TERRIBLE things. Every time you buy a Nintendo product, you are supporting Chinese manufacturing (and therefore the Chinese government) and much more, i.e. the miserable Coltan mining industry.
I have no problem with people getting on a high horse and I certainly am no fan of PewDiePie but nobody who plays console video games and reads web sites can say he or she adheres to a strict code of ethics when making purchasing decisions.
Wow. I can understand that some people don't like PewDiePie, but I don't understand all this hate. I never watched his videos before, because I found him abnoxious with all that screaming. But, I started watching him a couple months ago and his videos aren't that bad anymore.
I was amused by the feature that you could "play as any animal, as long as it is either a fish, a sloth, or a chicken"
That said, this type of game doesn't interest me, so I'll pass.
@Varkster He didn't have any involvement, despite this clickbait article alluding to such.
"The game is the first creation to come out a deal between DoubleMoose and Revelmode, a media company owned by Felix 'PewDiePie' Kjellberg."
And by loose association, one of the devs at DoubleMoose also worked on Goat Simulator. However, Goat Simulator was from Coffee Stain, which had absolutely nothing to do with PewDie.
That tweet has me chuckling. "Gameboy Switch. Sony Gameplace 4.
The computer." Nice xDDDD
@bluesdance Too... much... sense.., brain... cannot... handle!
Pewdiepie started as a mouse playing horror games. Thats how he got millions of subscribers, kids like seeing him screamed like a girl. Now his channel is not even about games anymore, it's a trashy one man talk show.
@onex My bad on that then, I didn't really look into it because I don't have much time but thank you for correcting me and making it clear to others.
@Sakura7 you're disappointed that they reported the facts because those facts might cause people to be rightfully concerned where their money was going if they buy this product?
Why even report anything if it might cause discussion or inform consumers?
I don’t knowingly play games by racists (PewDiePie), so that’s a hard pass.
Well, I'm sure not very "woke" for a politically correct SJW. I'm not a feminist, disagree with affirmative action, think "male entitlement" and "white privilege" are largely a bunch of crap (at least in 21st Century North America), am a big fan of Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro, etc. Surely though, we can agree that racial slurs are completely unacceptable and have no place in the gaming community? Don't give me that "it was just a slip of the tongue in the heat of the moment, he didn't really mean it" nonsense. Pewdiepie is a grown adult. The only way he would use that word, a word that's been used to remove the humanity from black people pretty much since it was invented (heck out the original lyrics to "O Susanna" or read "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" for examples of how it was used), is if it was already part of his vocabulary. He obviously says it when the cameras are off. That's more than just a "mistake". The fact that legions of people normalize his behaviour by defending him and continuing to subscribe tells a lot of minorities everything they need to know about the gaming community.
And I don't really see why having the same hobby as me means someone is above being held accountable for his actions. If anything, we should want someone that paints gaming in the best light to be the number one person on Youtube, not someone that reinforces the racist neckbeard stereotype.
@Euler I think that title belongs to Jacksepticeye as far as spreading positive vibes go.
I can tell why Pewds would be in on this, it's basically Happy Wheels.
It’s pretty sad all these sjw calling him a racist don’t even know what the word even means and only apply the word to white people but if someone non white says the exact same thing they get a pass they even said the African Americans that kidnapped the white mentally ill kid and beat him while saying f white people and f trump ON VIDEO wasn’t a political motivated or racist act 🤣
@bignrules I'm going to go ahead and say that I'm pretty sure you're a white racist who doesn't understand that some of us in fact do know what the word means.
"Gameboy Switch"
LMAO!
@PanurgeJr damn it you found me out! On a serious note I’m half white in your sjw dictionary that translates to half nazi and it’s true only SOME OF YOU actually know what a real racist is and IM SO RACIST that one of my best friends is BLACK and the other is MEXICAN 🤣
Gosh, is there one person on this entire website that wasn't fooled by the media and doesn't シット on PewDiePie? I for one enjoy some of his videos. If you just don't enjoy his videos, that's OK, but it feels like almost nobody here has their own opinion. The jew joke he did was not OK in my opinion, but he apologized for it, unlike the group of edgelords on the internet who make these jokes every day and think they are too cool to really apologize. Like Logan Paul, now that guy should be banned from YouTube forever.
His anti-semetic jokes were anti-semetic.
His casual use of the 'N' word as a derogatory insult was racist.
To label him both an 'anti semite' and a 'racist' is not just 'politically correct' - it's 'correct'.
@bignrules Well done with the "one of my best friends is black" defense. Also, well done in confirming that my instincts were correct.
I am still not clear on why someone should get paid while others watch them play a game. Competing in a championship for props, yes that makes sense, but just to be voyeurs in a generation of couch dwellers is crazy.
@Octane
Was just trying to lighten the mood. Besides, I am a bee! Bzzzz
@Heavyarms55 Let's not go there...
This comment section reminds of a joke Paul McCartney once told about an Irish guy named Jones. You should look it up.
@NaviAndMii You should never watch Pulp Fiction!
this idiot makes games?
if he can do it anyone can
@Zidentia Supply and demand. It’s a thing precisely because a lot of people are stupid enough to pay money to watch other people play video games. IMO it’s a direct result of Teletubbies being popular with the 0-2 age group 20 years ago. The chickens come home to roost.
@PanurgeJr confirming your instincts? LOL if your “instincts” were “right” then I wouldn’t have any friends that were non white are you mentally ill or just stupid you sjws are a cancer to society go back to your safe space and find new ways to call people racist your group is the same one that has deemed white people who do yoga “CONTRIBUTE TO WHITE SUPREMACY” 🤣 you can look it up the articles came from your people 🤣
The lefts sense of humor is drier than a nun at Sunday church 🤣 If you find me a video of pdp attacking people of a different races and yelling the n word or other insults at them then I’ll gladly stop watching his videos 👍
@bignrules I don't need new ways to call you racist. "Racist" suffices.
I look forward to seeing what response you have after working yourself up for a day again.
@PanurgeJr sorry didn’t phrase that properly I meant “new reasons” but yeah you got me I’m a “racist” 👐
For every person here announcing they wont buy it because racism, i will be buying an extra copy. So much for your boycott
@PanurgeJr Thank you for changing my life I’m converting from being a conservative I’ve been skipping my hourly nazi salute but when I do I break out in seizures and scream Racial slurs and my wife told me in my sleep I mutter things in German like gas them all! or for the fuhrer! I’m gonna go to rehab soon 🤣
@bignrules Nice. Multiple responses after working yourself up. Well played.
@PanurgeJr I’m 100% serious I’m going to get reprogrammed at Berkeley college so I can be tolerant of opposing opinions by rioting and threatening the lives of anyone who disagree with my point of view especially Ben Shapiro 😂
@bignrules Don't forget Christina Hoff Sommers, that facist feminist
@PanurgeJr so I checked Berkeley out they look like a great place to get a education at 🤣 https://youtu.be/iKcWu0tsiZM
@bignrules Your continued obsession with replying to me makes you seem more reasonable with each passing day.
@Euler wow look at the 5 year old who believes everything the. Media says you probably think your mum gay is offensive
@bluesdance woke
@ZUCCOFF That is literally the least understandable comment I've ever read.
@PanurgeJr thank you I was waiting for that 🙏
I, for one, will be buying the game, as it was CLEARLY a joke. There is a difference between saying the n-word once and hating blacks. There is a difference between saying "Death to all Jews" to see how far people'll go for $5 to actually being [removed] Hitler, and if you put them on the same level, I think you're the one who needs to be checked, in this scenario.
Bought the game And it's sweet. Simple game with simple mechanics. Online levels made by other people like me . But honestly Whats with all the hate here? It was a joke, he apologized after the media basically called him so many things. He changed much. Poor Felix.
I hope people wouldn't always believe what the media says but then again, everyone can believe whatever they want :') .
All the love to PDP .
a bit sad to see people reject a game only because some youtubers name is attached to it.
i don't care for pewdiepie honestly, what i care for is if a game is fun to play or not and ASS actually is.
it's one of the better indie games i've got to play lately and the price is very justifiable.
it's just funny seeing all this hypocrisy around this game because of a single persons name, but the second a new marvel or star wars movie drops everyone is easily ready to spend cash on those movies, not realizing that 90% of the movie is animated and 10% of it is acting, but guess who is coming out rich at the end.
indie devs require funding, only because pewdiepie is involved doesn't mean it's his work.it's still the devs who have created an actual fun to play game but at the same time need to work together with whoever is funding them.
Ignorance is bliss as they say, game is fun, has a great level editor to add another layer to an already price wise great game.
It's your loss if you skip it because of a name and noone will be bothered by you actually missing out of it.
Keep on hating
