We love the Switch Pro Controller - in fact, personally we think it's the best controller on the market, at least for our needs. But if you don't want to fork out heaps of cash and you happen to have another console's controller to hand, you might feel inclined to use that if the humble Joy-Con don't cut it for you.
That's why we assume 8Bitdo created this handy USB Wireless Adapter, which - as well as having a catchy name - allows you to connect various controllers up to your Switch through the mysterious sorcery of Bluetooth. That includes Xbox One, PS4 DualShock 4 and - yes! - even your dusty old Wii U Pro Controller or Wii Remote.
Make sure you check out the video above to see it in action with as little latency as possible.

That is a pretty useful piece of tech for $20, but I feel no need to use any controller other than my beautiful Splatoon pro controller.
I just want to have my wired fighting pad work on my Switch. I'll have to try it later.
Can I have mouse and keyboard support as well, so I could play DOOM the way it was intended to be played and not like some savage... Or worse, a filthy casual
Can i connect with my Wiimote to Switch ?
D-pad on the pro is annoying. I use 8bitdo snes 30 instead for games that predominantly use It!
@DM666 Same, I have both the SFC30 and the SF30 Pro, and the latter in particular I've been using for nearly everything on the Switch since I got it.
The newer Switch Pro controllers are supposed to have fixed the d-pad, with the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 special edition one in particular guaranteed to be good.
@Anti-Matter what’s the point of Alex lovingly crafting these informative missives if you aren’t going to read them?
(Yes you can)
If gyro controls work then I might consider getting one for my DS4, but frankly why bother if you love the joy-cons like I do?
My 8Bitdo SN30 Pro is good enough for me thank you.
@retro_player_22 I’m waiting on my SF version in the post. How would you rate it?
Great addon. Still have a nice 360 controller lying around so gonna check this out. Just got Mario Kart so we can definitely use this.
@Kid_Sickarus I love mine - but I’d say for long gaming session it’s slightly on the small side - I’ve also had some pairing issues when I haven’t used for a while - I got it on launch - all in all I’d say it’s best value for money you can get and it looks awesome.
@BARSAMAN is a 360 controller definitely compatible? I don’t think they used Bluetooth
That sure is one terrible video thumbnail. lol
oh wow. I love my new Xbox 1 controller for my PC. this is a buy once I get home
@Kid_Sickarus Definitely a 9.5/10 to me, only reason it isn't perfect is that it tend to be difficult pairing it to other devices like the SNES30 bluetooth receiver and the SNES30 Classic controller receiver sometimes. Also though it works on a PC, the right analog stick for some reason doesn't register the Up and Down inputs, only Left and Right which makes a few of my games on Steam complicate to customize. Other than that if I only bought this for just the Switch then it's easily a 10/10.
@Kid_Sickarus I have the SF-30 Pro and for 2D games I rate it 9/10.The D-pad really is excellent and I love how it feels. The Rumble isn't great but it's good enough and connecting it can sometimes be a pain. I haven't really used the analogue sticks for any games,I always switch to my Pro Controller as other than the crappy D-pad it is an excellent controller.
@Tsurii The pairing is the only issue I had with those cause once you paired them with a receiver, they stay pair to that receiver for good. The only way to refresh that is to re-update both the receiver and controller so you can use it on other receiver. Also the SN30 Pro won't work on the Retron 5, Ouya, Androids, and iOS unlike the original SNES30 controller. Not sure why though.
I love the Xbox One Dualshock 4 controller.
@Kid_Sickarus
Ow you are right. Just checked and they didn't use bluetooth back then. Hm, maybe have to go for the SN30 Pro then. Hear good things about it on this forum.
@DM666 Have you tried the tape trick yet? I opened up my Pro Controller at least 6 times trying different things, including raising the center rocker a little (too much), but the tape across a little less than half the contact points under the control pad worked best. It's just about perfect now. Sucks that I had to do it, but I'm happy now.
Even so, I picked up a similar device to this one to get my Wii U Pro Controllers working as an option, as well.
@OorWullie Nice little cabinet. Have you considered hacking some arcade controls into it?
I've got the Magic-NS adapter already, so the only reason I'd get this is if it would let me use a Classic Controller connected to a Wii remote. So far I've seen just one comment somewhere that it works, albeit with incorrect button mapping.
EDIT: http://bit.ly/2DIfbpx
Maybe I'll wait for the relevant patch or something else to come along.
@SmaggTheSmug I hate to be the one to break it to you, but if you are playing on Switch, even with a keyboard and mouse, you are already a filthy casual =D PC master race and what not.
I love the thumbnail to this article. Alex looks completely drunk!
Been looking for cheap solutions for 4 player Mario Kart as I'm not keen to buy two extra controllers when I have a DS4 and an Xbox One controller. Can't watch the video right now, does this support only one controller at a time?
@aaronsullivan Cheers,it just arrived yesterday. I've got some quality Nintendo stickers on the way that I'm going to decorate it with, hopefully they'll arrive tomorrow. Never thought about adding real arcade controls into it. It's pretty small and not sure how comfortable that would be.
My Wii U Pro Controller is far from old or dusty as it still sees daily use when I play Gamecube games wirelessly on my original Wii with it, through the magic of that thing known as Nintendont.
But does it handle gyro? Could it let me play Splatoon 2 with a Dualshock 4?
Use a Xbox controller to play my Switch on my Playstation Display
Be all over this if I didn't have a pro controller.
Also,I read it as 'USE AN XBOX ONE PAD ON YOUR SWITCH!!(oh and a PS4 pad if you really have to. Maybe if you don't have anything else)' 😉
Thanks for the info. Just ordered one from Ebay for 20$CAN free shipping. Happy this product exist.
If you want to be able to use wired controllers, this guy from Amazon is $25 and has USB passthrough in addition to wireless, and also comes with a nice little USB-C adapter for if you want to use it undocked.

The Dualshock 4's motion controls work, which is nice for gyro aiming in games that support that.
I might do this. The D-Pad on the pro controller is the biggest piece of hot garbage that Nintendo has ever produced. I love Alex, but with that borked d-pad, there's no way to objectively say the pro controller is the best controller this generation.
I'd buy it, but this seems like something that Nintendo could block with a future patch (hence my hesitation).
I don't use a pro controller, and there seems to be a shortage of 6 button fight pads out there for the Switch so this might be my way round the issue.
Would love to dust off the ol' WiiU pro but does the "brick stick" fit into the back of the switch where the wires go and close as well? Also any LAG with the WiiU pro in particular?
What's wrong with the pro controllers
D-pad? Mine works just fine and I would say it's slightly better than the Wii U pro controller D-pad
Darn. So much for using my wired Mortal Kombat Arcade stick for 360 on the Switch.
Does this work with Xbox Kinect? No? Not worth $19.99 then.
Still happy using my Mayflash adapters with my Switch, even works with all gyro.
@Tsurii
I have two SNES, an NES & a SNES pro and all work great. I would highly recommend 8bit do. I’ve used them on the Switch, Wii U and mini NES/SNES and they work great.
What is wrong with this thumbnail?
I already have something similar that works for my old Wii U pro controller.
@DM666
When you say annoying, do you mean that it registers the wrong input regularly? I have that problem too.
I bought 5 and took them all home just to check and they all have the same issue. I returned 4 of them though and overall have been fine with it.
Playing Tetris is nearly impossible with the Switch Pro controller though...
@Tsurii Because some people either don't like the way they feel or don't have them [DualShock 4s]. I fall into the former (my brother has a PS4), and while I can't say I don't like the controller (they're nice feeling and looking), I prefer Joy-Con to be honest. I'm weird like that, I suppose. 😜
Also, off topic, but I like your profile picture! 😊
I'm convinced.
Can I use the other my PS4 and Wii U Pro Controller to play games on PC using it?
@KevinLo9 yeah, going right can register as down. Street Fighter was impossible. The rest of the build is really good but D- Pad is poor. Don't really want to take it apart as I'll Probably not get it back together again!
Now we just need MS to update the Elite controller with Bluetooth like they have the other models.
If you want to use two PS4 controllers (or a combo of one PS4 and one Xbox controller) at the same time on Switch, do you need two of these adapters?
@HydroTendonMan Same here. Got the Splatoon Pro Controller last week and I love it!
Guys is this real?!?!?

What do you think?
@samuelvictor You wouldn't believe the things Alex threatened me with to record that sequence.
@DM666 Ayyyy I actually just got that the other day!
@samuelvictor Depends. Do I get a Ferrari?
There's also an adapter called the Coov 100 which allows you to plug in other controllers using USB, which is good if you have a regular xbox 1 controller instead of a 1s controller.
@Anti-Matter that would be so good
@samuelvictor As someone who drives a Peugeot Partner Tepee I cannot resist this offer
I was thinking of getting one of these, but I detracted when I found out it's one per controller and it's more of a toy for me, anyway. However make one of these that lets me use anything besides an official PS3 controller on my old PS3 and I'll buy 4.
