A free demo for WarioWare Gold is now available to download from the European Nintendo 3DS eShop.
Coming exclusively to 3DS, WarioWare Gold has players pressing buttons, tilting the system, using the touchscreen, and blowing into the microphone through 300 typically-wacky microgames in what has been described as "the biggest WarioWare game yet". The game features a mix of the series’ classics as well as some brand new, quick-fire challenges, and you can try some of these out for yourself ahead of launch right now.
As you can see from the new trailer above, WarioWare Gold introduces an all-new, fully-voiced story and we can't wait to have him yelling all sorts of nonsense at us from our screens. A whole bunch of extra modes will be featured, too, including minigames, a voiceover recording studio, a 'Super Hard' mode for experts, and more.
You can grab the demo for yourself directly from the Nintendo eShop. The game itself launches in full on 27th July.
Will you be giving this one a go? Let us know in the comments below.

Just drop the (3)DS already and release it on Switch...
WARIO !
Wahahaha....!
@Nassov
Noooo...!
I still saving my money to buy Japanese 3DS machine and start to build my Japanese 3DS games library.
Woo, I'm gonna try and be a lucky jerk!
A Wario Ware game on Switch with online multiplayer, that's be nice.
That’s great.
Wahaahsahaha
I hope WarioWare finds its way to Switch soon.
All right guys, to everyone saying drop the 3DS and support the Switch, do you really think that's not what they're going to eventually do? I think that in a year and a half, we'll see a handheld only Switch Mini. It will be a smaller, cheaper to make Switch, similar to the Slim line variants of other consoles. It will have emphasis on portability and be capable of playing all Switch games in portable mode. This will allow them to target the budget family gamer at $179.99. If there really is going to be a successor to the 3DS, it'll be this.
I'd love a Warioware game on the Switch I can just imagine all of the possibilities that throws up. Is there any reason why this and the upcoming Luigi's Mansion port couldn't be on Switch too? Im not saying drop 3DS support but why can't the Switch have these games as well?
@Averagewriter haha I thought about that too. As much as I'd love it, I don't think they could do it. Way too much work goes into porting a dual screen game to a single screen console. Maybe we'd get a series of best of 3DS ports, but never access to the full library
Hearing Wario talk in a WarioWare game, as opposed to grunt and exclaim sounds a bit strange, but I suppose they couldn't re use those samples forever.
If WarioWare ever does land on switch though, I'd really hope it has the creation tools of D.I.Y, and a way to share microgames.
I think it's nice that this game is on 3DS. Contrary to what many people think, I think the 3DS deserves a long life and - why not? - some nice exclusives too!
My opinion is: if they should release a Wario game for Switch, it should be something like Wario Land Shake It. I loved that game and played it for I don't know how many hours on Wii!!!!!
...Another DIY game would be nice....or a Switch version. The last console game we got from these guys was back on the Wii...(Fever/Smooth Moves)
It feels weird hearing Wario speak full sentences.
Just played the WarioWare Gold demo and from the short amount of time I played, I loved it. While I would have liked a tad more microgames in each category (instead of repeating the same 5 over and over, I would have liked it if they included at least 8), it's already shaping up to be another excellent WarioWare game and easily my favourite one since Smooth Moves.
One thing that made ecstatic when I was playing the demo is when each after game segment showed all the rewards and bonus modes that will be included in the final game. The reason why I bring this up is because beforehand, I had a slight concern that the game would solely focus on the microgames and completely ignore all the bonus features included in all the prior WarioWare games but I'm glad that's not the case.
So yeah that's my early stance on WarioWare Gold. If you can get past the fact the game is on the 3DS instead of the Switch, I think you should definitely pick this game up if your a fan of the classic WarioWare games, you'll most likely have a blast with it.
@Averagewriter True. I mean it would certainly be awesome. I just don't see them doing it. Goes against Nintendo's "Make them rebuy everything." mentality. With our luck, they would give the Switch the ability to emulate 3DS games, then sell us digital only copies via eShop
Cool !!!
Haha his voice and dialogue! 😂😂😂
This isn't the first WarioWare on 3DS is it? How did they wait so long? At this point they should make it for the Switch.
@G-Boy
"It feels weird hearing Wario speak full sentences."
I'm sure Wario has graduated from Prep School.
C’mon, tell us about how those Amiibo will work! With one of Wario’s friends (hopefully) about to become a playable character in Smash Ultimate (not going to say her name), now would be a good time to tell us something...
Day 1. Cant wait for the full game
A couple of commenters hoping for WarioWare on the Switch...I don't know why I could never get into the console versions. Smooth Moves and Game'n'Wario were fun, but just preferred the, I dunno, immediacy(??) of the portable versions. Though if it is an issue of portability, could be that a Swich version could be the ultimate console WW game.
Great. Just when my 3DS's speakers go bust.
@Averagewriter The difference here is that the Switch is also a portable device... So yes, that kills off the 3DS
@Heavyarms55 It is the first WarioWare 3DS game, even 7 years after launch Nintendo is still filling in the gaps of the 3DS library. If F-Zero ever returns, I'm pretty sure it'll come to 3DS before Switch.
Why are Switch owners always port begging and hating on the 3DS now it baffles me how it's that possible in a Nintendo site maybe they need to change the name to SwitchLife instead of NintendoLife
@GKO900
They might tired of 240p from 3DS, want 720p on portable screen.
They treat like No More worthy 3DS games once Switch games dominating market.
@Anti-Matter That still doesn't explain the port begging if Switch has too many games like some people claim why the need to ask for more
It’s only 10,000 coins to download the demo, but one jerk will leave the demo with 1,000,000 coins!
Who knows? Maybe that jerk will be you!
Long post coming but there's a point to this argument:
People keep asking for this game to be made for the Switch rather than the 3DS. While it would be nice to have a new game on a new, more powerful console, it would've been impossible. Warioware Gold is a compilation of the best games from previous entries with some new games thrown in. That includes Warioware Touched, which made use of the Nintendo DS features like dual screen, touch screen and the microphone. The Switch does have a touchscreen but only in handheld mode. Since the 3DS has these 3 features AND motion control, it makes more sense to release a best of Warioware game on the 3DS instead.
@MH4
Btw, how do i check my Coins from 3DS e-shop ?
And how do i purchase e-shop games from 3DS e-shop with Coins ?
Sorry, still never knew about that.
This looks so much fun! I wish it was for the switch though.
Yay! Wario Ware demo! Move over Switch!
@Anti-Matter I wanted to see my coins total yesterday on Switch. Only way I found was click the "purchase now" link on a game, the next screen shows you your coin total and asks you if you want to use them....
I expect there's a better way than that but it worked for me!
Wario Should invite Waluigi to his game!
Is it available on the American eShop?
@GKO900 the port begging definitely needs to stop
I love how every 3DS game "should have been on switch for goodness sake"
I still love my 3DS so I'm excited.
Not least by the fact that Wario is FULLY VOICED?!
Hopefully, if this game is successful, it will lead to a new WarioWare game on Switch. (Although, Nintendo’s target audience on the 3DS likely has never heard of the series before and might not have interest. So if it fails, Nintendo has only themselves to blame.)
@Anti-Matter I was quoting the video.
Sorry about that 😅
@Sabroni and Anti-Matter: You can check your My Nintendo point total by going to the My Nintendo website and checking your points balance. On Switch, click your profile pic in the eShop. It’s somewhere in there.
Hmmm, can't we have a new Wario Land game instead?
Please?
I love Wario Ware, but hate these rehashes. This is the exact same thing as that screwed up Rhythm Tengoku/Heaven game on the 3DS, which was boring as hell if you already played the previous games.
INTRODUCING:
WARIO SWITCHES OVER TO THE NEWER SYSTEM
Nintendo:Remember that warioware gold game that was the biggest ever? Good! Cause this one is three times that size!
Ok ok, let me go find my 3ds charger...(and my 3ds)
If this game is anything like Touched, I'm sure I'll enjoy it! Haven't played any of the others minus the Game & Wario spinoff on the Wii U (which was kind of hit or miss).
...fine! I'll get this!
@Silly_G Meh, It's more Fun with headphones anyway...!
WarioWare isn't a series that magically gets better by just moving from 3DS to Switch, considering the 3DS has dual screens and a built-in microphone. If Gold was moved to the Switch, I'd imagine some changes would be required to some of the microgames. So I'm 100% fine with this being on the 3DS.
However, a WarioWare for Switch built from the ground-up, taking full advantage of the system's unique functions like the IR sensor, would also be fun. But this isn't something that just becomes better just because it's on a more powerful system.
@Captain_Gonru Game and Wario isn't WarioWare, it's not even made by the same people. I forget the name of the team that makes WarioWare and Rhythm Heaven, but Game and Wario was made by Intelligent Systems.
Still sad this isn't coming out on Switch too, I already have the original WarioWare Inc for GBA on my 3DS, but no Wario on Switch yet
@Captain_Gonru Well it does use a lot of WarioWare characters, but yeah it's different.
@Tarolusa Thanks for actually commenting on the content of the article. I was scrolling down trying to find out if someone tried the demo. Sounds like I'll give it a go this evening! Thanks again!
Something must happen regarding the 3ds soon and lt looks to me as though it is. These two games along with a few more similar ports are just here to keep the DS ticking over for the rest of the year........
@Joeynator3000 : The WarioWare games have been developed by Intelligent Systems dating back to the GameCube game to the present. Surprisingly (and for whatever reason, I thought the Rhythm Heaven games were made by Intelligent Systems as well) Intelligent Systems has had nothing to do with the Rhythm Heaven series (that I am aware of).
I have always found it quite amusing that the same guys that give us Fire Emblem also give us the wonderfully brilliant WarioWare games as well.
@Grumblevolcano I am shocked they waited so long. I remember the games being very popular on the original DS.
@Heavyarms55 : Plus, Twisted and Touched were released in such close proximity to one another, and Smooth Moves was released not long after. I found it extremely odd that Touched was never reissued (at least in Australia) after the launch shipment as it must have sold exceptionally well if there was no stock left anywhere. It is one of very, very few games in my library that I had to buy secondhand from eBay as I just couldn't find it anywhere (and I couldn't afford it during the launch period of the DS). Inexplicably, Sega had never restocked Hatsune Miku on 3DS either despite the fact that their whole shipment sold out around the country less than a month after launch (I was overseas on the month it launched, and a month later, I couldn't find it anywhere).
I just don't understand when publishers sell out ALL of their stock so quickly (in less than a month) and decide not to reissue the product. There is obviously demand for it. It seems like such a stupid thing to do from a business perspective (though Sega isn't particularly renowned for their business smarts).
I was expecting a 3DS WarioWare game to be released shortly after launch back in 2011, but it never happened. WarioWare games traditionally take advantage of the systems that they were designed for, so I would have expected the opening cutscene to depict Wario witnessing the 3D fad on a TV advertisement and then come up with a scheme to make his riches by exploiting the 3D effect of the hardware. Sadly, I doubt that we will ever see such a game. Nintendo has left a WarioWare-with-stereoscopic-3D-shaped hole in my heart that they will probably never fill.
I am still grateful that we have a new WarioWare game, but it is being released so late into the 3DS's lifespan that I would have preferred them to make one for the Switch instead (and Smooth Moves is just so, so brilliant).
@Silly_G Sounds like you've hard a nice share of problems collecting! Yeah, though I am not a big Warioware fan, I would have expected a WW title much sooner on 3DS and then another one at least announced by now on Switch. I feel like both systems are great for the series - though I consider the 3DS obsolete at this point. (Do note I don't think 3DS is a bad system, quite the contrary, just that it is outdated)
@Heavyarms55 : My only problem with the continued 3DS support is that the more recent games do not take advantage of the key feature that distinguishes it from the Switch (i.e. stereoscopic 3D).
I think a dual-console release, at least for 2D only games such as Hey! Pikmin, New Style Boutique 3, Detective Pikachu, Pokémon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, Kirby Battle Royale and the like would have made a lot of sense as these could have also helped to greatly expand the Switch library (as well as genre and IP coverage) during its infancy.
Without the ability to play these games in 3D, I would much rather play them on the Switch, which comes with the added benefit of HD resolutions, TV play and separate save data for up to eight users.
WarioWare Gold appears to take advantage of some of the 3DS's features that the Switch lacks (such as the microphone), but I've always hated the microphone activities anyway as the 3DS microphone has never been particularly responsive, so I would be happy to do without. The touch and tilt activities could easily be repurposed for a hypothetical Switch version though (at least for the purposes of TV play).
WarioWare is also a great game to play with others (Smooth Moves supported up to 12 players with a single Wii Remote and is such a blast to play) which is perhaps my main gripe, above all else, with this being confined to the 3DS.
@Silly_G I have owned 5 different 3DS units over the years and played for literally thousands of hours on the family of systems. But I am one of the people who never liked using the 3D effect. Perhaps due to my questionable eye sight or maybe just personal preference. So with the Switch, from day 1 I have wanted every game on it and barely touched my 3DS since the Switch launched. Pretty much only USUM and Fire Emblem Echos, the latter of which I haven't finished.
I could see getting this. Loved Wario Ware GBA original and then the DS Touched title, the tilt and wii versions were kinda suck though.
@Nassov can’t. Switch doesn’t have a microphone, thus rendering that section of the game unplayable.
@Averagewriter Agreed; the utter babyishness of "kill the 3DS" is mortifying; it was good enough for all of you till now eh?
LOge this series to bits; just hope that they see fit to release Warioland 4 for the Switch/3Ds eventually or better yet, release a part 5...
"The game itself launches in full on 27th July"
"Release Date: 3rd Aug 2018"
So which is it?!
For all them geeks who say " it's not fair, this should be on the switch, 3ds is dead......." get a frikkin life!
If a WarioWare game were to be developed, it'd probably be similar to Smooth Moves, what with the Joy-Cons and whatnot.
3DS rocks im hoping for 3DS 2 with better graphics but dual screen and with the 3D effect in tact.
Just gimmie Mewtroid from WarioWareTwisted and I'll be happy
@mailman No need to feel bad for Switch owners. There's so much great stuff on the eShop that I can't come even close to keeping up.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to new WarioWare. Any word on when we'll get a demo in the NA eShop?
@Sabroni On the Switch, go to the eShop, then click on your Profile. It will show your available funds, your Gold Points balance, and your payment methods.
@mailman Yeah, I'd love both of those, but I can be patient. Too many good games and too little time as it is!
