Wait a second - FramePerfection?! As in, the guy who's infamous for his legendary crashouts speed running Mario 64 ROM hacks?! Talk about a redemption arc, jeez.
Wow, as it turns out, when you re-release old games locked in your corporate vault people really want to play, you make a ton of money! Who'd have thought?
..... cough
@larryisaman Good for them! After so many stories of dev burnout/mismanagement, it's nice to hear that it was really just a matter of them having all of the time and money in the world to make exactly the game they wanted to make.
Regardless of the game's actual quality, think of how many actually good platformer mascots are practically crying out for a revival. How cool, for example, would a 3D Rayman with the aesthetics/characters of the Origins series be? Or a proper Banjo-Kazooie revival? Heck, Spyro hasn't gotten a new game in the almost SEVEN YEARS since the Reignited Trilogy came out! And yet, out of all of these, who has been given chance after chance, attempt after attempt, even the benefit of genuinely good developers like the teams behind the Giana Sisters revival and Demon Turf? Bubsy friggin' Bobcat. The literal joke of platforming mascots. It frankly astounds me.
No British voices, no sale. Even though I was born American, I will wholeheartedly say that both British voices easily eclipse Dana Gould, Leslie Phillips especially.
@sketchturner This is the part that many people miss. They are a 3 person team working on a huge sequel to one of the most beloved indie games of all time. The pressure they are under to get things exactly right must be immense. Did they announce it a bit too early? Yeah, definitely. However, that does not excuse the outright stupid amount of gnashing of teeth over no news. Cut them some slack. It'll release when they feel it's ready. There's tons of other games out there for you to play.
Honestly the highlight of the Direct for me. When those motors appeared on Kirby's Warp Star, I literally jumped around and screamed. So many good memories of racing/playing City Trial with friends. And Sakurai's back in the director's chair too?!
Honestly, I agree with the opinion that this is genuinely more intriguing than a new 3D Mario would've been. This is going to sound like sacrilege to some of you, but we've kinda gotten.....oversaturated with Mario as of late. I mean, in the past two years alone, we got remasters of both Super Mario RPG AND Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Mario and Luigi: Brothership. And don't forget, we still have Mario Kart World to consider.
I'd say the plumber has more than earned the right to rest his platforming laurels for a little while and let the Banana Slamma have his turn in the spotlight.
just completed the first Grandia. Hugely enjoyed it, as it's honestly one of the few games that give Skies of Arcadia a run for its money in the "making the world feel truly unexplored" category
"A Wii U-style fumble seems unlikely given the hard lessons learned last time, but there's a risk that 'more of the same' could garner a lukewarm reception, too."
The same but more powerful would be anything but lukewarm. All Nintendo has to do is say two magic words: "Elden Ring". Boom. Instant money machine.
@HammerGalladeBro IMHO? The translation. They've sanded down all of the edges that made the original so special, and turned it into a piece of innocuous, child-proof, flavorless MUSH.
@AtlanteanMan the Crazy Taxi reboot is at least a few years away and is an MMO. JSR is the same, IIRC. And to crush your spirits even more, SEGA just announced that they will be rebooting Rent-a-Hero....with NFTs.
Amazing what happens when you get someone working on these things who actually cares, rather than narcissistic morons who purposefully kick the source material to the curb in favor of their "enlightened vision".
Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac would be hype, yes.... but you know what would be even more hype? Please SEGA. I am literally on my knees, begging you. You have to know that classic JRPGs are in vogue right now.
"Between the constant struggle for funds to stay out of poverty, the exorbitant cost of items and school lessons, and your daughter’s tendency to fail at certain jobs with little explanation given for how to improve, it can feel at times like you are being railroaded towards certain outcomes."
So this is one of the most lifelike sims ever, is what you're saying?
Also keeping expectations low. I would love to see the Wind Waker remaster; literally the only 3D Zelda I'm interested in playing (spicy hot take, I know). I dare not ask for the one thing I always ask for; I've made peace with the fact that it'll most likely never happen
Honestly, if 30fps is the price we have to pay to experience this stone-cold classic with richer detail than ever before, then so be it. It sounds like they're doing everything right here. 👍🏾
I never pre-order games, but I made an exception for this one. This was my childhood Mario RPG, and they look to have done a bang-up job of remaking it for the modern era.

Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed For Tomorrow, 27th March 2025
Also, considering a new trademark was filed recently, SEGA has the opportunity to do something really cool, either tomorrow or next week....

Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed For Tomorrow, 27th March 2025
Predictions:
Metroid Prime 4 release date (maybe remasters of 2 and 3)
One or both of the long-rumored Zelda ports (WW and TP)
Kirby: Planet Robobot Deluxe
maaayyybe the FE4 remake
maaayyybe the F-Zero GX remaster
