Just none of the previous collections (Castlevania, Contra, TMNT) Konami has put out has PS2 ports in them at all, so they weren't going to start this time.
@bones PS5s weren't readily available where I live until a little while after the release of the Slim.
As far as the Switch 2 goes, I think I probably could have been able to get one by now had I lived closer to the one store that keeps getting restocks, and if they didn't restock on Thursdays.
Is there any name that screams "ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NOT STEAL" more than "Unika"?
Like, seriously?
And yeah, I know, that's par for the course for GG, considering Sol's whole thing is "What if Daisuke Ishiwatari was Freddie Mercury?", but still, yeesh.
Not sure how I feel about this. There are some games that I'd bought digital that much, much (sometimes years) later, I ended up buying physical. But now that I have more space I'd kind of rather re-install the digital (no, I would not get rid of my physical copy). It doesn't seem like I can do that now.
@Joekun A big theme on the Hookshot Media sites (especially Time Extension) lately is how discussion must be De-Americanized, so don't expect that phrasing to change any.
Been wrestling with picking up the Switch version of Super Robot Wars 30. If it'll become impossible to buy the DLC (eg : if they eventually stop producing eShop Cards), it might not be worth it.
@Mariotag Not lost. Couldn't use it. Nintendo funded Namco to develop the GCN version, so Namco(-Bandai) had to base all re-releases off the PS2 version, which only ran at 30 FPS.
@FX29 The PS3 version was the remaster, not the Wii version (The Wii version was Japan-only, and the first printing of it was such a bug ridden mess that people had to send their discs back to get replacements).
And the likely reason this runs at 30 is because they targeted the PS5 as the lead platform for this, and then had to scale it down for the Switch.
@EarthboundBenjy Every re-release of Symphonia has been based on the (Japan-only) PS2 version's source code, apparently because of rights issues around Nintendo funding the GCN version themselves.

Re: Review: Gradius Origins (Switch) - An Almost-Perfect Package For Shoot 'Em Up Fans
@romanista Not a rights problem, no.

Re: Review: Gradius Origins (Switch) - An Almost-Perfect Package For Shoot 'Em Up Fans
Gaiden and ReBirth really needed to be here (there was never any chance of IV and V), but what's there is still good.
Nemesis 90 'Kai (or the PSP version of MSX Gradius 2 from Salamander Portable, with the smooth scrolling) should have been there too, honestly.
Re: Atari 50 Is Getting Yet Another DLC Pack, This Time Focused On Namco Titles
@topher6490 and somehow, I don't know how, the Colecovision and SG-1000 versions of Pitfall 2, also.
Re: Review: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 (Switch 2) - A Welcome Reminder Of The Series' Glory Days
It just can't be the same without "Pulse" by TheMadCapsuleMarkets in it.
Re: Nintendo Download: 3rd July (North America)
@MedusaMadman77 They did. It just won't be available until past 12:00 Noon EST.
NL's lists always list last week's Arcade Archives instead of this week's.

They haven't cancelled my order yet, but when I got it in, the estimated ship date wasn't until 10 days after I put it in :/

Well, there went any hope for a port of GRID Legends.

Re: Sakurai Says Japanese Developers Should Avoid Trying To Appeal To Western Tastes
I mostly just prefer when devs aren't trying to chase Hollywood and I'd prefer they not try to structure their games like movies.
I don't want a ton of long cutscenes or extended sequences with little-to-no-gameplay at this point in my life.
Re: The Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 Soundtrack Sounds Expectedly Rockin'
They're really gonna leave out "Pulse" by TheMadCapsuleMarkets?
That was the best song in 3.
Re: Review: Everhood 2 (Switch) - A Subversive, Surprising Yet Shallow Undertale-Inspired RPG
Can something really be "subversive" when EVERYTHING is "subversive" now?
At some point, didn't it become the expected, and therefore no longer subversive anymore?

"Almost Non-Existent Plot"
Fine with me.

"Said it on ResetEra."
Come on, 99% of the backlash against that game probably came FROM ResetEra.

I'm suddenly reminded of the band "A"'s seminal album, "A vs. Monkey Kong".

Just translate Rebirth, already.
Graces f was the one I wanted most, so that's it at this point.

Kind of wish Defiance could have been included, too...

Suppose this means it'll get pulled down from GOG?
Re: Random: Guilty Gear Strive's Latest Update Apparently Censors "Inappropriate Angles"
@Samalik Strive feels like it's been for the Gooners and the Shippers for a while now.
Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm not supposed to say that.
Re: Video: Tales Of Grace f Remastered Showcases New Gameplay, QoL Features And Includes "Over 80 DLC"
@Bizzyb Not exactly. The "f" version was a PS3 exclusive, but it was an updated re-release, with extra content, of the Japan-only Wii version.
Re: Video: Tales Of Grace f Remastered Showcases New Gameplay, QoL Features And Includes "Over 80 DLC"
@missingno_fgc It would be getting ported from the PS3 codebase to start with, not the Wii one.
Now, that said, the reason 60 FPS isn't happening is because the PS5 is the lead system for development here.
Switch is never the lead platform for multi-platform releases.
Re: Mini Review: Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration - The First Console War (Switch) - Once More Unto The Breach
@BANJO Super Burnout would have been an amazing inclusion.

@PKDuckman Likely with a remixed soundtrack just like the other "Mikado" releases.
Re: Sony's PlayStation Vita Exclusive Freedom Wars Is Getting Remastered For Switch
@calbeau It's not like every Vita game ran at 60 FPS, either.
Lord knows they didn't.
Re: Feature: "We Don't Need To Just Keep On Repeating The Past" - Lena Raine On Shmups, SNES Samples & Going Solo

@LadyCharlie Ironically, despite the flag in my PFP, I'm not much of a Brisket fan.
I was always more about Ky, because I have a weakness for lightning-based characters.
