Board Member at a Fortune 500-ish company is basically the ideal "job" for a retiree. The time commitment is pretty close to nil, maybe few hours per month, if that. He'll probably walk away with $250,000 - $500,000, annually, in cash and stock incentives, to boot. Extremely nice work if you can get it.
It's a 2D ninja platformer from a reputable developer, and in that respect it looks like it'll be very good. Based on the stills and video, it looks very much like it's just doing it's own thing, and not very Ninja Gaiden-y (other than the overlying IP). Not sure if this will quite scratch the itch for the NES series fans.
Only for clearance reasons and only because second-hand pricing will drive it in that direction. Since the Switch 2 is already confirmed to be backwards compatible, I expect demand for the Switch and Switch OLED is going to crater and the second-hand market is probably going to be absolutely flooded with used models, in short order.
It isn't even a particularly good measure of positive / negative, because not every critic applies the same cut-off point in their scoring system.
"Part of my problem may be caused by conversion of the detested star rating system. I consider 2.5 stars [out of 4] to be thumbs down; they consider 62.5[%] to be favorable." - Roger Ebert
Balatro does offer players the ability to choose seeded runs when they start a new game, and every run you start in Balatro has a corresponding seed, which will be provided to you when your run reaches it's conclusion. As long as you have the appropriate seed entered, you can retry your luck on any run however many times you choose to do so.
It would've been a no brainer if it was all the games plus the challenges derived from those games, but challenges only is not an enticing value for me. Not sure if/when I'll upgrade to my next console, but it would've been nice to be able to continue playing these on the Switch with or without access to the Switch Online servers.
This list should come with a caveat, because the best version of Street Fighter 2, on a Nintendo console, comes in one of the various of collections Capcom has released for the Switch, and because they're part of a collection, they are not given any considerations in the rankings.
A lot of it depends on who owns what, when the film contract comes to an end. Film studios often can't assign perpetual distribution licenses, because the underlying IP isn't theirs to license, in perpetuity.
Both/all parties also have to be amenable to such a contract, and the film studios that secure perpetual distribution rights for themselves tend to be equally shrewd when it comes to licensing perpetual distribution rights out to others.
There's also likely to be a substantial escalation added to the initial investment needed to acquire perpetual rights vs. time-limited rights, which may be overly cost-prohibitive for videogame developers and publishers.
This looks... OK... but I really just want something that goes back to 80's denim n' leather greasers, bikers, street toughs and punks all fighting for their lives in a world that's slowly falling by the wayside to the effects of urban decay and vague hints of a post-nuclear fallout. I want a Billy and Jimmy who look and dress like Hammer and Spike from the arcade marquee, i.e. tough ***** who happen to be highly skilled martial artists. That would be my ideal vision for a new Double Dragon game.
Whether or not Nintendo 'demanded' his termination, is probably irrelevant; "Mike" got fired because he got caught.
An employer's inventory database is very likely to be proprietary and confidential. Capturing and sharing a photo of said database, outside of the company and without their consent, is almost certainly going to be grounds for termination, in and of itself. That the photo also violated an NDA with Nintendo was sort of the cherry on top.
Why isn't there a poll option for approaching this on a case by case basis or "It depends"?
I probably would play the original Ninja Gaiden series in chronological order, but nobody should have to struggle through Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before playing the inifinitely more accessible Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game, as they share nothing but licensing.
Street Fighter II is a chronological continuation of Street Fighter, but it's not a strong gameplay narrative, and you're not going to gain anything, other than frustration for the 'not quite ready for prime time' control scheme, by playing the original, first.
I mean, given the state of Activision / Blizzard's leadership, even an Elon Musk-led acquisition might have been viewed as a step in the right direction.
"It's similar to other media industry such as pro wrestling, if guys like Hulk Hogan left WWF for WCW, then WWF can't promote Hulk Hogan in the company anymore and tape footage of him will not be shown (unless he return and under contract again)."
Generally speaking, your current contractual status with a company has no bearing on their ability to continue using footage produced while you were actively contracted with them.
Ex: WWE is actively streaming thousands upon thousands of hours of archival footage featuring wrestlers that are not under a current WWE contract a number of which are actively contracted elsewhere.
Atari's trailer is a little misleading. They aren't calling it a remake, but it's clearly a remake. Actual 1982 arcade cabinets would not have been equipped to generate and display graphics, as seen in the trailer.
I'm seeing a heavy dose of Contra: Hard Corps blended with a little bit of Shinobi III and Strider. Ninja Gaiden's influence on the gameplay seems pretty minimal.
Tony Scott and Eminem would've been poor choices, IMO. You need more of an auteur in the director's seat to nail the audio/visual tone of the games, and an actor with a bit more range than "as himself".
Kind of a pointless endeavor without Simpsons Arcade. I'm not sure if Konami has a reasonable path to re-releasing it for the Switch, the way they did for TMNT, but of all of the "classic" 8-bit / 16-bit games, but it's the only one worth playing.
DC Comics and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment fall under the same corporate umbrella, so that wouldn't technically qualify as a "licensed" game.
Ehhhh.... I'll generally take a strong original composition over licensed music. Probably a cheaper approach to video games soundtracks, and definitely less frought with legal hurdles down the road.
Having to write, read, voice and/or listen to meaningful dialog over the course of a feature-length film, with Mario's voice and colloquialisms in mind, is a recipe for madness. Pratt's likely not the ideal choice, but it's going to be a blessing in disguise that they went in a different direction.
I think part of the problem has been the way Sonic's speed is being implemented into a 3D control scheme. Rather than controlling like a straight 3D platformer, ala the Mario games, Sonic should probably utilize a hybrid control scheme with an accelerate trigger to switch between 3D platforming controls for walking / jogging and driving/steering controls for running.
