Like a Dragon: Gaiden. Almost overlooked this one but a good precursor to Infinite Wealth. Really enjoying it, a great in-game coliseum, plays a lot like Judgement but just as good, IMO. I know it's on the shorter side, but if you aren't a speed runner and more of a competitionist, there's plenty of game here. The coliseum alone you could sink hours into.
@burgerkingsauce I mean it was as close to a horoscope prediction as it could be. Almost zero chance it doesn't fit the next iteration of the console because there is nothing concrete in the prediction. So, doubt there is any way you can be disappointed from that vague statement.
With the recent emergence of HD 2D AAA games, I can see this type of format easily taking off. I don't know if this is the game to do it but I always root for inventive ways for games to succeed. "A rising tide lifts all boats"
@BenAV I'm the unfortunate soul that played II first. Now playing I and seems to go in slow motion. No battle speed, auto text progression, and saves take at least 3x as long. Saves that take forever are particularly noticeable in a game where grinding and save scumming is almost encouraged. Only wonder if it's any different on PC version.
@LEGEND_MARIOID Has to go up graphics and performance wise. Although still one of the best looking Switch titles, it's only held back by the Switch itself.
Getting old when a remaster is a remaster of an already updated game from your teenage years. I'd kill for a new adventure of Grim Fandango, or DotT part II.
@SpaceboyScreams 100% The classic temples are exactly the "something is missing" from the last two entries. They're fun but taking the most Zelda component out of a Zelda game just seemed like a really weird development decision. The fact they sold so well makes me nervous that they won't return to the earlier Zelda formula. Maybe I'll live to see that, but given their 4-5 year development cycle, I've only got a few more chances.
It was good, pretty much on par with the first one. I spent so much time with it, I could never go back. Still hoping for a more traditional Zelda at some point. This was closer, a masterpiece for sure, but not quiet the same.
@mattesdude If only there was a way to search a vast library of data to find out what that acronym meant. Thank goodness you were able to help that poor soul, or else he would have needed to wait until something like the internet or Google was invented.
@LikelySatan 100%. Ironically, that type of game is what got me into heavy gaming. I still have fond memories of dumping hours playing RPG isometric PC games in the '90s.
Starfield is...okay? I'm playing it and not addicted to it. Think part of the problem is playing this immediately after BG3. I cared about almost all of the BG3 characters. Starfield has annoyingly bland characters. I knew all the hype there was no way it could live up to it. If you can get it cheap one day, worth a play. I wouldn't pay AAA prices for it, if I had to do it over.
Ugh, remakes. Love 'em and hate 'em. Rather have a new game. Do love the Super Mario RPG remake, from what I seen. There is a game that NEEDED a remake. A 3DS game, even from 10 years ago, did not.
Metroidvanias are one of those genres that can produce really really good games or a big stinkfest. There almost is no in-between. (And I know some people hate that term and it just makes me want to use it even more.) mwahahaha
I'm not a fan of visual novels by any stretch of the imagination, and this isn't completely one of those, but really close. However, I really enjoyed this game, it's got something to it I can put my finger on. Would love a sequel at some point.
A dream come true for who? Not consumers. As if the Switch needed a performance hit when playing games. If this isn't the Swan Song of the current Switch model, I don't know what is. If it's baked into a new Switch model and performance accounted for, that may be a different story, but I don't see the current version being able to "chew bubble gum and walk at the same time." Ridiculous notion of this being a dream come true, unless you mean a Nightmare on Switch Street.
