Re: Walmart Cancels All Super NES Classic Pre-Orders

sykotek

Lifelong Nintendo fan here. I just had my preorder cancelled by Walmart. I only ordered 1 despite 2 being the limit. I'm not a scalper. It was just for me and my son. Something for us to spend time together doing that is something from my childhood that I'd be able to share with him.

I completely missed on getting a NES Classic. Yeah, I could've paid a reseller more than retail anytime for one, but I thought Nintendo would keep up with demand for it. I've had to give up on the idea of sharing that with my son the first time around. For me, the SNES Classic order completely erased those hard feelings of us never getting a NES Classic.

I don't get to hang out on a website all day to see if it'll come back in stock. I managed to get a preorder for the SNES Classic by fluke in the first place, the one time each day I'd check for it, it showed up. Now, I doubt we'll be getting one at all. I'm not paying more than retail for one.

Well, there goes Christmas. Whoever's idea it was to cancel the SNES Classic order I chanced into getting for my family. Thanks a lot Nintendo for pressuring Walmart without thinking of families like ours that missed out and thanks for nothing Walmart for giving hope to families like ours and then taking it away.

Re: Poll: Share Your Thoughts on Super Mario Run and the Delays to Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem on Mobile

sykotek

Despite being an Android user, I'm not miffed about Super Mario Run releasing for iOS first.

I think the price point is an important thing to focus on though. It's fantastic that they won't be going the microtransaction route, but they shouldn't attempt to release it at Nintendo digital pricing either if they want initial high market penetration. It's really only a taste of Nintendo's full fledged offerings after all.

If the goal is to get the mobile phone market interested in Nintendo IPs and Nintendo dedicated hardware with these games, it'd be smart to release SMR at an introductory price and increase the price after the initial surge in sales I'd think.

As for the game itself, it seems a bit cramped. I wonder if you can play landscape mode?

Re: Feature: Exploring the Licensed Content in RCMADIAX Games on the Wii U and New 3DS eShop

sykotek

I don't really mind that RCMADIAX puts out a steady stream of titles. Obviously, someone out there is buying these games or they wouldn't release games the way they do.

I just wish there was a way to filter out their games when I look through sale pages, like a block publisher option or something for me would be super welcome. So many of their games are constantly on sale all the time, I hate wading through all that stuff when I'm looking for games I'd actually consider buying.

Re: Sega Placing "Huge Emphasis On Quality" With Future Sonic Titles

sykotek

People don't trust SEGA or Sonic Team to make good Sonic games anymore and for good reason.

They should just create a Mario Maker clone for 2D Sonic fans, call it Sonic Studio. Give it the ability to change camera angles and allow the ability to swap between sprites and rendered models, but keep movement 2D.

Let the community make their own games and a lot of them will play more and complain less.

Re: Disney Infinity Has Been Cancelled

sykotek

That's sad, I really liked Disney Infinity. It might be a good time for Nintendo to pick up Avalanche employees to create some Amiibo compatible titles for Wii U, 3DS, Android, iOS, and NX though. It's not like they don't have good cross platform developing experience. Anything to continue bolstering Nintendo's cash cow Amiibo line would be a solid idea to keep investors happy too.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo Should Shamelessly Exploit Its IPs to the Full

sykotek

I disagree about Nintendo shamelessly exploiting their IP, but I can agree with Nintendo perhaps loosening it's control to allow local entities like NoA and NoE to have final say on partnerships and producing shows and movies released in their respective territories since what's culturally relevant in Japan isn't necessarily true in America or Europe.

Re: Tomodachi Life Sales Reach Two Million in Europe

sykotek

I still check in on this game everyday and always treat visitors to my islands like they're royalty. That said, I often feel like I'm the only person here that plays this game. I rarely ever hear back from kids I've sent out to travel the world. It's just not popular where I live.

Re: Random: Check Out the Official Mega Man Headphones

sykotek

Their headphones average about 3.5/5 on Amazon, most say the sound and comfort are good, but they break easily. All of their headphones cost around $25, but for some reason, the Mega Man set costs 4x more, I know it has LED, but 4x more? They also have other licensed products too like various Harvest Moon headphones and a Darkstalkers Felicia headphone.

Re: Sales for Dementium Remastered Have Been Much Lower Than Expected

sykotek

On eShop, at $15, the pricing on it is waaaay too high and this is coming from someone that has supported and bought every RK released game. It's an enhanced DS release. It'll probably do as great as other games when it reaches the sub $8 mark on sale and probably should've been released at around that price.

Re: Linkle to be Considered for Future Legend of Zelda Titles

sykotek

Tingle is known as Tincle in Japan. Tingle basically cosplayed as a forest spirit. I think Linkle is Female Tingle. She is possibly cosplaying as Link. Perhaps she's Tingle's sister.

I wouldn't mind a Legendary Heroine Linkle game. Maybe she could have ubsurd emotional powers like Super Princess Peach.

Re: Mother 3 Heading to the Wii U eShop in Japan on 17th December

sykotek

They're also releasing a Lucas Amiibo too. I still think it'd be totally cool if they released this English in the West and dedicated it to the late great Satoru Iwata. What I mentioned in another post somewhere was that it'd be cool if Nintendo donated proceeds of releases Mr. Iwata worked on to Cancer awareness and research through the end of the year. He did help with the original Pokemon games too if I remember correctly.

Re: Video: We Gawk at the Contents of Nintendo UK's Super Mario Box

sykotek

@Rockmin: I think screwed is a bit harsh. I didn't see anything really all that special besides the nifty box. They gave away pins at events. The plush is available at Toys R Us. Mario hats are probably on clearance now that Halloween is over. That Amiibo is not difficult to find. Only thing would be the shirt and really, it's not clever, you could make something better in a few minutes on Zazzle and a slogan that might rhyme at least. Like, "Saving Lives since '85"

Re: More North American Women Own A Games Console Than Men

sykotek

I'd be more interested to know the percentage of gamers that mainly use and customizable female avatars vs their gender distribution. Anecdotally, I've encountered more than a few fellow male gamers that prefer to use female avatars in games where they are allowed to choose gender and found that mildly interesting.

Re: Yes, Fatal Frame's Lingerie Outfits Have Been Removed From The Western Version

sykotek

I prefer the Nintendo costumes actually, but I think censorship for a game aimed at adults is unnecessary.

There's really no reason the extra costumes couldn't be unlockable by scanning Amiibo. With a place full of ghosts, I'd want to control Pac-man or Luigi instead.

Remember guys, there's nothing scarier than the female form. What a bunch of nonsense.

Re: Renegade Kid Wants to Release Physical Versions of its 3DS Games

sykotek

I'm personally not a fan of this trend and really wish this was an option to begin with since I prefer physical releases, but it's great news to those who haven't already played games from Renegade Kid. I'm sure it'll be well worth the asking price.

I'm not going to purchase this as I've already purchased every single RK game at release ever since Dementium for the Nintendo DS. I have no need for a compilation cart also.

Re: Save Data Hackers Top Competition Leaderboards in Pokémon Shuffle

sykotek

I don't understand why anyone playing Shuffle would be upset about the hacking for the current competitions except for those top players who battle for the top spot every competition not being able to see their scores. Those manipulated scores are definitely getting disqualified, there's even a line about getting disqualified for utilising unauthorized save data in the competition info itself. Let the hackers waste their time with this stupid stunt. The mobile versions will be easy enough to fix and they're just going to end up causing Nintendo to close the homebrew loophole they're currently exploiting on the 3DS.

Re: Talking Point: The Argument For And Against amiibo-Cloning Tool Amiiqo

sykotek

I'd be interested if it can write to the actual Amiibo figures. I already have one of each released in my region and I'd only be interested in being able to back up my data or taking it along when I'm traveling..., of course, Nintendo could also just release the ability to back up data onto the Wii U/New 3DS XL and I'd be just as happy without one.

Re: Chris Prangar, Nintendo Treehouse Staffer Who Recently Spoke About His Work, Confirms He's Been Fired

sykotek

He's responsible for getting himself fired. It's very likely a combination of NDA and code of conduct violation. When you talk about internal workings, you also represent the company and the best interests of the company. His explanations can be interpreted as damaging the Nintendo of America brand. It has at least in my eyes.

The gist of it was "Nintendo of America doesn't care what the hardcore audience wants. If it's niche, unless some other entity fits the bill for it, don't hold your breath on it being released for the US. We don't make enough money from it." Which is BS because other, smaller companies localize niche games and somehow stay in business.

Re: Chris Prangar, Nintendo Treehouse Staffer Who Recently Spoke About His Work, Confirms He's Been Fired

sykotek

It's really hard not to feel bad for the guy, considering he's a shortsighted moron. If talking about things your company wouldn't want you to divulge got you fired in the first place, what's the sense in going on social media and announcing to the world that you've been fired too? Should've just learned the first time and kept your mouth shut.

A quick Google search will probably now be enough to deter most employers from hiring this guy. If I searched "Chris Pranger" and saw all this, I very likely wouldn't hire him. Wouldn't be worth all the trouble.

Also, on topic of whether he deserved to be fired, it's almost certainly yes. Besides NDAs, there aren't any companies I know of that would want to remind their customers that they're there to maximize profits over their wants, it hurts the image of the company.
