Re: Just Why Is La-Mulana Taking So Long?

sykotek

My initial reaction to this was to propose the first solution to this issue that came to mind.

"Just don't release it in Germany, that'll teach them."

After writing my sentence though, it dawned one me how screwed up it would be to write something like that. It's not German gamer's faults that La-Mulana is delayed and they certainly shouldn't be the ones punished here.

So, here's my solution:
Germans gamers, if you please... help us contact the ratings board involved in this delay and tell them to please hurry up.

Ein herzliches Dankeschön - The rest of the world.

Re: Uh Oh, Now Namco Goes for Single 3DS Save File

sykotek

Calling this right now!
Sequence of upcoming events:

1) Complaints of 3DS save limitation leads to terribly poor sales of Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions in the critical period.

2) At a Namco Bandai board meeting poor sales figures baffle those in charge. After brainstorming, NB eventually comes to the conclusion that there is nothing that can be done and the 3DS is not a viable market for making games at this time.

3) Tales of the Abyss is immediately cancelled for Nintendo 3DS.

4) Dozens of fans launch Facebook campaigns, complain on various message boards and dozens of petitions pop up in a futile attempt to convince NB to release their cancelled game.

5) NB does not change their mind as their sales figures show no return on their investments.

6) Fans blame Nintendo.

7) Another game company does the same thing, so do fans...rinse repeat ad nauseum.

Re: These Handmade 3DS Cases are Awesome

sykotek

Cool designs, but one thing comes to mind for me.

Can individual sellers really sell their home made products emblazoned with copyrighted images? Don't they need to have them officially licensed first?

Is that really an okay thing to do or is this an until they get shut down sorta thing. Anyways, those are some sweet looking designs. I wish they'd have these on Club Nintendo instead of...what they have on there now.

I especially like the Goomba case.

Re: Fishing Resort Tugging on a North American Line

sykotek

I feel sorry for the people that dismiss this on the fact that it's a fishing game. Just take a moment to watch the video above. The game looks amazing and the fish and aquarium modes appear very well made. Definite buy for me.

Re: La-Mulana DLC Announced

sykotek

After watching the trailer, La Mulana reminds me a great deal of Castlevania...in a good way.

On the topic of DLC though, does anyone know where I can find a list of games that have DLC and their point values?

For example, I know the following games have DLC:
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years
Final Fantasy: My Life As a King
Mega Man 9
Mega Man 10
Space Invaders: Get Even

Re: Capcom Blames the Fans for Mega Man Legends 3 Cancellation

sykotek

Relax, I'm sure whoever was tweeting at Capcom Europe was saying that Capcom Japan had no idea on how to gauge the actual consumer interest in the game as there is a lack of sales data involved.

Facebook and online petitions don't count for anything. It would be stupid for Capcom to pour money into development and release a title without knowing how well it would sell. Just walk into your local retailer and look at the shelves. They are more than likely filled to the brim with 3DS launch titles.

All complaining aside though, if you wanted to spend your time complaining, at this point it really would be a good idea to petition Capcom to complete and release "MML3 Prototype" and to use it to gauge actual demand for MML3. I think that's a fair thing to do at least.

Re: It's OK Mega Man Fans, Dr Wily's Revenge is Imminent

sykotek

I think you guys are misunderstanding me, there is, as far as I know, no call to arms to buy Mega Man on 3DS VC.

I'm just saying that IF you guys want to send a message to Capcom that THEY will care about, organizing and buying Mega Man on 3DS VC will be the BEST way to go.

Why would it be, because they'd have real SALES data right in front of them for the platform in question. Lastly, it shows Capcom there are actually people willing to buy Mega Man and they shouldn't ignore the market, it's supported by real SALES data instead of a vocal minority of internet denizens.

Would Mega Man Legends Prototype have been better? ABSOLUTELY!
...and I would've suggested it over MM for 3DS VC in a heartbeat, it is far and away more relevant. Do you have that option, NO.

...but seriously, don't buy MM for 3DS VC if you don't want it. There's no one organizing for this sort of protest as far as I know. I don't care for Mega Man Legends 3's release on 3DS, it's not a cause I'd rally for.

Re: It's OK Mega Man Fans, Dr Wily's Revenge is Imminent

sykotek

@kkslider5552000: Sure, buying it alone won't say anything, but if folks are organized and instead of protesting or boycotting or b*tching & moaning about MML3 and instead put their efforts into contacting Capcom and letting Capcom know that their intent is to purchase Mega Man on 3DS VC to demonstrate to Capcom just how many Mega Man fans are out there with a 3DS and willing to buy MML3 when released...that's the data I'm sure would be relevant to them...

If you think the demand for MML3 is as high as others around here, MM for VC will easily be the top selling VC title released AND inside of its release week. Believe me, the odds are way better than:

*Preordering a title that you can easily cancel on Amazon or Gamestop with absolutely no penalty or
*Signing a stupid internet petition 1000 times or
*Complaining to Capcom or
*Complainng to everyone else on blogs or youtube about how Capcom are idiots for not understanding the gaming market.

Also: Your example of Final Fantasy convincing NIntendo to release Xenoblade doesn't make any sense because those aren't the same franchises or the same companies involved.

At least with Mega Man and MML3, they're both Mega Man and they're both Capcom.

I personally don't care if they release MML3 as I don't like 3D Mega Man, but if you want a good solution, organize and show your support instead of protesting to get your point across. There you go.

Re: It's OK Mega Man Fans, Dr Wily's Revenge is Imminent

sykotek

The Game Boy Mega Man games were awesome and well worth playing for anyone that considers themselves an old school Mega Man fan.

They were most definitely not ports and extra care was put into them to make them different although they did feature many of the same robot masters.

Also: Not purchasing Mega Man when it comes out on VC because of the cancellation of MML3 would be misguided and a mistake that only goes to prove one thing to Capcom,

...that they were absolutely right to pull support from the 3DS because there's no interest from the 3DS consumers to buy their games.

Now, I don't have interest in rallying the gaming community, but in fact, the opposite should happen instead,

...those who were interested in Mega Man Legends 3 should buy Mega Man when it is released on the VC to show Capcom that there are fans that are willing to purchase Mega Man on 3DS and that removing support for the platform was a mistake.

I guarantee that would be the best platform to get your point across rather than writing letters or complaining or petitioning or boycotting, etc and it's the sort of opportunity to show a company what you want that does not present itself often.

Re: Review: Roller Angels (DSiWare)

sykotek

I was unsure about this to be honest, but after buying and playing with it,

I highly recommend it.

I tried looking on youtube for video of this game since its release, but was still on the fence about picking this up and ultimately waited for a review. With games like this, it's really hit or miss and this one is most definitely out of the park. Do try to look past the "girly" visuals, it adds to the charm of the game.

Re: Review: Farm Frenzy (DSiWare)

sykotek

...or just skip it altogether since it seems pretty lackluster in every version I've ever played or seen...still haven't seen any footage of the minis version though.

Re: Iwata Discusses More Built-In 3DS StreetPass Games

sykotek

I've completed the Street Pass plaza games long ago. Meaning I've beat Find Mii, got all the hats and got all the puzzle pieces.

Here's an easy solution they could do in the meantime. Port Personal Trainer Walking on the 3DS for free, it doesn't need to be in 3D necessarily, it could just be a straight port as far as I'm concerned.

Releasing PTW could allow the PTW community a chance to reach their goals and provide incentive for all 3DS owners for walking. Add in support for the existing pedometers and pokewalkers and that's all you'll need for awhile.

Problem temporarily solved and plus, you don't abandon support for a worldwide walking community. =D

Re: Interview: Star Odyssey and The Challenge of Bringing Dead Games Back to Life

sykotek

"With services like the Nintendo Virtual Console already playing host to classic games, have you considered making titles like Star Odyssey available for download?"

"Call me crazy, but I feel that Genesis games are meant to be played... on a Genesis."

Super Fighter Team is crazy. Why would you even bother working so hard to release these games if you're only planning to cater to the hardcore gaming enthusiasts?

Virtual Console is there, you probably don't need to do much besides uploading the ROM anyways. Use it to bring your games to the masses and then use that added revenue to fund future projects. Enthusiasts will still buy physical copies because that's what gaming enthusiasts do.

Re: Talking Point: The Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D Save File Debate

sykotek

It's funny that other games were mentioned because upon further thought, Capcom has already done this with Super Street Fighter IV 3DE with the special figure mode passwords.

Once the passwords for figures are redeemed, that's it, they're one time use only. If you erase your data, you'll lose your special figures and never be able to get them again. It's the same exact thing, but in Street Fighter, it's for a secondary feature that people arguably don't care as much about.

Re: Talking Point: The Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D Save File Debate

sykotek

I was never into Resident Evil anyways, so it wouldn't have made a difference to my purchasing that title, but I am irked when I can't initialize saves/scores. ...like on Tetris Party Deluxe for DS.

I don't buy used games and I don't really ever trade in the games I buy, but I think all the talk about how used game sales cut into publisher's profits is incredibly shortsighted and I wouldn't care except for my fellow gamers who buy into that.

Used games are part of video gaming's ecosystem and the loss of used games would not do the industry any favors, in fact, it would be a huge step backwards for video games.

Re: Nintendo Download: 30th June 2011 (Europe)

sykotek

"Not tryin to sound racist or nothin," but white Kirby... hmm...I dunno, it just seems kinda wrong.

(Don't take this seriously folks, just a joke, but after seeing Kirby as pink for so many years, does kinda make him look weird.)

Re: Feature: The Sonic Games That Never Were

sykotek

I'm not the biggest Sonic fan, but after watching the videos, I'm not surprised that none of these were released. Why did SEGA even bother thinking about making these games in first place? They're all horribly slow. The one thing all Sonic games should have in common is fast pacing and sense of speed. If you don't have those or prioritize gimmick platforming or lame enemies, then GTFO. Sonic should never be slowed down.

Re: There Will Be No Zelda 25th Anniversary Collection

sykotek

@tbd: What fan reaction about the Mario 25th set? Was it the outrage about calling it "Limited" and then re-releasing it again for purchase later?

...I don't really care personally, but that was pretty bogus IMO, I can understand other people being upset about it. They could've easily solved that by removing the "Limited" printing in the second batch or not releasing the slipcover/artbook again.

To anyone that thinks Nintendo would release games they already have up for sale on VC should really think again.

Re: There Will Be No Zelda 25th Anniversary Collection

sykotek

What would I choose? BS Zelda, specifically the 3rd, 4th quests and the LttP sequel, translated in English and available for purchase on VC/WiiWare ...toss in an interactive history with commentary/music selection...I'd say that'd make for a pretty good 25th Anniversary.

Re: Review: Super Mario Land (Game Boy)

sykotek

What? No classic green tint? ...that's not my childhood Mario.

Edit:
@Linkstrikesback & @Puregamer: Really? Sweet, I haven't updated mine, thanks for the clarification. Seeing this game in monochrome B&W just seems wrong to me and all I saw were the pics on this page and it being played in B&W on a 3DS on YouTube.

Edit2:
Found a vid.

Re: Nintendo Updates DSiWare to 3DS Transfer List with More Titles

sykotek

Well, that's much better, now I only have 2 games on the list that can't be transferred.

...still, those two games cost me $16, but judging from the list, this is more likely Gameloft being unwilling to okay the transfers to 3DS and I'm glad Nintendo has been working on it. Sucks that it is some of their higher rated games that are not transferrable.

Edit: On second thought, it is most likely licensing issues surrounding all the Gameloft games on the above list.

Re: These DSiWare Games Cannot Be Moved to 3DS

sykotek

Man, I can't transfer 8 of the titles I've paid for that are on that list. That's 3100 points worth (that's $31 USD)!!

This is the worst week ever. :[

"These versions in particular will have major improvements on 3DS and will be made free for consumers to "re-download" when that time comes!"

@MasterGraveheart: Seriously!? NO, don't hold your breath.

Re: Nintendo of America Announces National StreetPass Day

sykotek

Be sure to follow the diagram above and remember to not pull out your 3DS while walking around, especially in bad areas. You are carrying $300+ worth of new electronics on you that is easily pawnable afterall. Nintendo is wise to not sponsor these events.

Re: Japanese Gamers Put Off by High Price of 3DS

sykotek

I haven't paid more than $27 average for 3DS games since launch. I have 11 different 3DS titles in my collection.

Standard MSRP for 3DS games in the US is $39.99, combine that with titles that aren't actually worth the high MSRP (all of them, Zelda's not out yet) and there's your problem.

Lower your prices or increase your standards.
