Good old Nicalis does like to keep us on our toes. A recent tweet following its time exhibiting at PAX has sent the interwebz into detective mode about which games it will be bringing to the Switch eShop, which hadn't previously been confirmed.
Having ploughed through the NeoGAF thread, these pixelated mysteries would appear to be Terry Cavanagh's excellent retro-styled platformer VVVVVV - which of course Nicalis has already released on the 3DS eShop. Next up appears to be Code of Princess by Studio Saizensen, which Atlus published on the 3DS back in 2012. It also seems like 1001 Spikes is getting a Switch port too, but we already kind of knew that!
All three games would be a welcome addition to the Switch eShop library. Which would you like to see?

What a weird title....
If only the one on the top right were Rogue Legacy. I've been dying to play that for so long, and I think it'd be great on Switch!
Oh look, more PORTS. Any chance of some new games please?
Look at 90's Super GP, just sitting there teasing us.
It's a fun game, but I've already played it to death on 3DS, so I'll pass for now.
EDIT: Any word on when Redout is released in the UK yet?
I got VVVVVV on 3DS, and played all the different levels, why would i want it on Switch?
@Bunkerneath Why would anyone care that you don't want it on Switch? You're very obviously not who they're aiming this at.There are millions of Switch owners who never played it that might want it, myself included.
Not sure if to get this for Vita or 3DS first, or maybe I'll get the Switch version. Choices, choices.
Code princess! Please! I missed out on it on 3DS bit id love it on switch though
I'll bite for a few of these. Code of Princess would be good especially if they do a physical release.
1001 Spikes all the way! And the thought of a portable version of Code of Princess without a terrible framerate is somewhat tempting. Bring on the games!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Of course the system is getting PORTS. Every system gets a lot of PORTS early in its life. It takes TIME to develop new games, Slig.
You should get this if you haven't played it, great little game!!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Nicalis had a good amount of new games coming like Redout (EDIT: Forget redout came out already so Blade Strangers is a better example) and Ittle Dew 2. Way I see it these ports are fine as long as the new games arent getting pushed back because of them.
VVVVVV was a lot of fun, I don't think I'll be double dipping but I will be recommending.
Probably would double dip for 1001 spikes if it's cheap enough as I didn't play enough of that on 3ds.
I'll be double dipping on Code of Princess but I want physical release and an amiibo.
Fcuk the haters. Great news for people who have never played these games
Not sure why the 1001 Spikes icon is blurred, when the game itself is listed on their website as coming soon to the switch.
Honestly I'd probably buy/play VVVVVV again, it was a really great game. 1001 Spikes was a ball of crap, no thanks and Code of Princess I dunno, probably pass on that as I never finished it on 3DS.
Would be really nice to see some sequels tho instead of so many re-releases...
Code of Princess I never did pick up on 3DS. If the ports any good I'll probably get it now.
I've played both VVVVVV and Code of Princess on 3DS but I'll be super tempted to pick both up again on Switch. I've been wasting a lot of money on games I already own but having all these games on my Switch is just too appealing.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE New games are great, but I like that we're getting ports of indie classics, too. Some of them I haven't gotten to before, and others are just great to have as both portable and docked. Spelunky would be great.
CODE OF PRINCESS! Sweet!
The one all the way down at the bottom (next to Code of Princess) seems to me to be the art for La-Mulana, though that was an EnjoyUp release on Wiiware, not Nicalis who had dropped the ball on that one.
Nearly bought Code of Princess before so may be tempted this time around.
@cfgk24 That would be cool. First amiibo to have an M rating. Lol
I'll take all of them.
Bring it
I own VVVVVV on 3DS, Vita and mobile, but I won't hesitate to buy it again on Switch. Same goes for the excellent 1001 Spikes, which I've got on 3DS and Vita.
With those two and Code of Princess, we now know what three of the teased Nicalis games are, but how about the other two, what are they?
I loved VVVVVVV and since I no longer play my 3ds I would welcome it on the switch providing the price isn't too steap.
If my profile picture isn't enough to tell you, I highly recommend VVVVVV to everyone who hasn't played it yet. It's such a small bit excellent game!
@BensonUii It's definitely one of the last generation's top-tier indies we never got, which is a shame. I'd also love to see Fez on the Switch, but I suspect that'll never happen with Polytron/Phil Fish being (presumably/essentially?) defunct.
CODE OF PRINCESS (my answer to a current gen Guardian Heroes)!!!
Those other two must be new games. Knowing the internet, someone would have figured it out by now if they were existing games. A lot of people are saying that one looks like Mega Man Zero, but that seems to only be based on the similar colors. It doesn't bare close enough resemblance to any of the existing images I've seen online, including the box art for all 4 games and the collection. That said, those 3 are without a doubt VVVVVV, Code of Princess, and 1001 Spikes. Highly recommend VVVVVV to anyone who hasn't played it yet.
The top right one looks like Castle in the Darkness which would be awesome since I've been wanting to play that for some time. Also yeah, the other one looks like Mega Man Zero collection.
@TrubbishForMayor my pre-order states November i think, but thats coming from the states.
Well, at the very least Code of Princess should run decent on Switch! The only thing that turned me off from that game was the poor frame rate it had a good amount of the time.
I would love to take another crack at code of princess. One of my favorite modern beat em ups.
I already own 1001 Spikes but anyone who doesn't should buy it. I consider it one of the greatest platforms of all time. I've completed it multiple times and love it.
code of princess on big screen?
yes.
I love code of princess! I would only buy it again if they get the English dub back. I already have it on 3ds and pc so the improved framerate is already something I have taken care of. If they had the English dub and improved framerate then I'll buy
Code of Princess was in my OLD 3ds for quite a while, I even managed to get the version with the soundtrack in it, and I remember DAT being the last game I got from some Gamestop b4 it closed.
@ogo79 YEE, but sadly it's missing the 3D feature from the 3DS version, just another reason for VR on the switch ̶o̶r̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶o̶s̶e̶ ̶s̶w̶e̶l̶l̶ ̶r̶e̶d̶ ̶&̶ ̶b̶l̶u̶e̶ ̶3̶D̶ ̶g̶l̶a̶s̶s̶e̶s̶!̶ ̶

Code of Princess? That seems familiar.
Is an action-RPG beat'em up
And sold!
Hope Code of Princess is true.
VVVVVV on Switch? That just reminds me of how much I'd like to see a Music Player on the console, like what Sega CD and Playstation had in their day.
First row:
1. Tasukete Tako-San: Save Me Mr. Tako!
2. Tiny Barbarian DX
3. Blade Strangers
4. ???
5. The End is Nigh
6. ???
Second row:
7. VVVVVV
8. '90s Super GP
9. Ittle Dew 2+
10. Cave Story+
11. Redout
12. The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+
Third row:
13. Code of Princess
14. 1001 Spikes
Whatever happened to Hydra Castle Labyrinth? Maybe it's one of the pixelated icons?
Also, missing Super Meat Boy, Super Meat Boy Forever, and The Legend of Bum-bo.
These would have made the third row complete.
The colours of the game above Cave Story reminds me of Mega Man Zero.
One can dream.
@BinaryFragger
To clarify, people generally want ports of CURRENT multi-platform games and complain about ports of old games. Like VVVVV which came out years ago. It's a fun game, but no one's buying a switch for it.
...VVVVVV is a great game...surprised it's coming to the Switch tho, seeing how unstable it made the 3DS...😜
Don't know if I should be just happy more games are coming to the Switch or be disgruntled at how late (if ever) we will see these come to UK along with their big price tags because Nicalis.
1001 Spikes is great stuff (though it's a very difficult game, as fair warning!)
If the price is right, I may re-buy
I would rebuy VVVVVV if they include the level editor. Go on, you know you want to...
@Bunkerneath What about the people who haven't played the game yet? Geez, you act like you represent everybody.
