I'm getting chills watching this. I am so, so excited for this game.

That remix of Ridley's theme in the trailer makes me think we're in for a surprise boss cameo.

We needed a Bounty Hunter.
We got a Legend.

Looks amazing, but this trailer confirms the amiibo unlocks are indeed solely locked behind amiibo.

Ugh. Must we wait until September? I haven't been genuinely excited for a game in a long time. What's worse is we don't know when Prime 4 will be released!

It looks incredible, and best of all, less than a month away. Buy this bad boy, so we can get more 2D Metroids in the future.

I'm surprised with all the abilities in this game, it really looks like a brand new game.

I love the new Gravity suit design too.

Also: "Samus IS the unexpected." E3 surely taught us that.

The three other Aeion abilities are new to me. They look over-powered.

Looks really nice but not keen on the amiibo locked content. It just highlights again the problems with amiibo. Why have those upgrades behind a pay wall?

I look forward to getting all of the unlockable art from the internet.

@RainbowGazelle Didn't they "say" (indirectly) that the Starfox Zero unlocks were also locked behind the amiibos only?

I'm staying hopeful but I have resigned to the potential of the stuff all being amiibo exclusive.

Honestly this is all making me consider making my own amiibo cards.

I love my amiibo, but they're being used incorrectly in this case. A good way to use them would be aesthetic changes like skins representing the many different suits Samus has had over the years

I don't care about the Amiibo unlocks, the game is complete as it is and those unlocks are just a "present" to those who chose to buy the figures, nothing more.

We need details for MP4 too Nintendo. I know it's too early but at least reveal something. And yes, a logo's definitely not enough. I don't want a repeat of BotW where for little info we gotta wait till E3. And 3 E3s at that too...

Am I the only one who found the trailer unwatchable? The droning delivery of the voiceover man killed it dead for me. 'We needed a bounty hunter; we got a legend' is the cheesiest line since I accidentally mixed Parmesan and cocaine. The game looks good, but goodness me do I not like the way they've chosen to show it off.

Locked content behind amiibo. Just as bad as anything EA or Ubisoft has ever done.

This game has got me more excited than any Switch game on the current line-up.

My new 3DS XL and I are so so ready for this title looks absolutely stunning. The original Metroid 2 is what made me fall in love with the character and the series so many years ago .

I've never been into Metroid, but this game looks good...might be worth a buy from me.

I wish they would just port this to the Switch.

That is not what Iwata envision with amiibo. He said amiibo was going to be a platform not paid dlc.

I'm buying the game but it is a bad use of amiibo.

So excited to play this! I will probably be at my cousins Friday night after work he preordered the collecter version for both of us. I also ordered the strategy guide for my second play through. Super pumped!

I was hyped until I heard about the amiibo unlocks. Feeling a bit salty about it (even though everyone else does it with Season Passes). I can wait until I can find it used. Nintendo doesn't need my money for their little amiibo paywall experiment

@Pupito I consider this game the perfect swansong for the 3DS, though I would have much rather seen it on the Switch. At this point I'll take Metroid wherever I can get it, though.

And amiibo paywall is brutal. amiibo for costumes is one thing, but whole modes? for shame, nintendo. I won't pay.
