With Splatoon 2 now only a little over a week away - how time flies! - Nintendo is ramping up its marketing for the Switch title. The latest trailer to be posted on YouTube by Nintendo of Europe shows various players tackling the game at home and on the go, with the slogan "the world is your playground" being used.
Check it out below.
Plenty seem to like a particular part with an enthusiastic player getting splatted in the face. It's not quite "you're a kid now, you're a squid now", but it's an effective moment.
Do you like this trailer for Splatoon 2?

Imean, they're kinda right. Play online anywhere at any time. Play with friends near or far... How can you not see the world as your playground with that in mind?
Death certainly comes that swiftly in the game, so I'd say it's accurate.
More like my canvas.
I'm glad Nintendo has finally got their marketing campaign together, Splatoon 2 is really looking like the next killer app for the Nintendo Switch!
Very excited to get my hands on it!
i really want to get splatoon 2, love the creative in the first game,.
since i have no switch. im going to be waiting for it!
cmon, Nintendo! get more units out.
Sure, as long as you have a wifi hotspot nearby.
I am curious to see how Splatoon 2 does on the Switch, which is already far more relevant and successful than Wii U (outside of lifetime sales figures, mind you).
@gatorboi352 Smartphones can turned into wifi hotspots for your Switch to connect to.
Nice to see a Switch commercial with a bit of fun and quirkiness related to the game itself, rather than just the bland "photogenic actors in various scenarios" template.
Not bad. The Japanese version of this is better in my opinion.
Cool ad, and it just underlined to me the fact we're just ONE. WEEK. AWAY.
I hope this sells like hotcakes, especially with Switch's momentum so far. Such a fun IP, it absolutely deserves it.
I'll go into cryofreeze. And I don't wanna be woken up before July 21st! I just can't wait anymore!
@ThatNyteDaez
So, my VIVO Y31 smartphone can be a Wifi Hotspot ??
@GoldenGamer88 Then you'll miss the Splatfest!
(Which I'm missing too, because I can't find a Switch.)
@GoldenGamer88
Your wish is my.... err whoever command.
I have called Ice Queen Shiva to freeze you up.
Oh... I will do a fingersnap on 21 July 2017 to break the Ice Pillars.
@Anti-Matter Thanks mate. Well, bye everyone! See y'all on the splattlefield next week!
There's my city again
@JubilifeRival After witnessing the glory that is this ad, my heart couldn't possibly take a Splatfest! It'd just make me wanna play the full game even worse!
@ricklongo Well, 9 days, but who's counting?
Really hope a shortened version of this appears as a TV advert....the Switch is still selling well, Nintendo needs to keep this up to persuade more third party commitment.
@ThumperUK It has. Ive seen it several times.
Finally...the western Splatoon ads now match up with the Japanese Splatoon ads, instead of being like the "You're a squid now, you're a kid now" commercial.
Love this commercial, especially when the guy dodges all that ink and then takes a huge amount right to the face! HAHA! Nintendo has definitely stepped up their marketing game with the Switch, hope they keep it up!
Oh wow it's actually similar to the Japanese one, just shorter
Why can't this game just be released already?
Hype!
Now put it on TV. After over 4 months I still haven't seen a single Switch ad.
But I'm still playing Arms! I finally pushed through the brick wall I hit and started getting good at the game, and it's just getting better and better the longer I play it.
Oh well. It's time to splat tunes. Ready or not.
@gatorboi352
Mobile Hotspot.
Back in March or whenever it was when they had the Splatoon 2 testfire, I played the entire thing at work in tabletop mode via mobile hotspot from my phone. I didn't notice any lag whatsoever. It was amazing. And that's when I had an epiphany about the Switch and what it's going to mean going forward. Made a forum topic about it I was so excited... Just wait till August 25th when MHXX drops- I'll be hunting online 24 hours a day. Could be the worst thing or best thing that ever happens, depending on how you look at it!
@JaxonH
Hunting 24/7. That's definitely considered the best thing that could happen. Table top with a hot spot is a great way to play splatoon.👍🏻
could this game put the system at 10 million units? that would be fantastic
Would've been better if the splat effects weren't CGI!
This pales miserably in comparison to...
YOU'RE A KID NOW!!! YOU'RE A SQUID NOW!!!
haha. i love that song.
I'll see if I can get used to it, but I miss the old paint look already.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Must be unlucky. I have seen them on many channels. Current ads are for 1-2 Switch. I think that was either on FOX or Sky 1
@ThatNyteDaez yeah that's what I wanna do, run up my smartphone data.
@JaxonH I'm up against my monthly data limit as is with my smartphone. It's not a viable option for me in that regard.
@gatorboi352
Gotchya.
In case you consider it for the future, I did track the data usage for Splatoon 2, and it was approximately 0.1gb for a full hour of online play. So 10 hrs per month would run you about a gig (figure if you game 60 hrs a month, 30 will likely be at home, and say 30 away, and if half of that time was spent playing online it would be about 1.5gb per month for online gaming away from home... not too bad all things considered).
But I changed my plan to unlimited data recently just to be sure I didn't have any issues. It's still limited to 10gb of hotspot before "potentially" slowing down to 3G, but that should be plenty for me
@Anti-Matter To be honest, I can't speak for certain for every smartphone out there. But many modern one's do enable the wifi hotspot option. My previous Samsung Galaxy A3 (which was complete trash by the way) was able to do it, and my current one Samsung Galaxy S8 can also.
I'm not a phone guru and I'm terrible with Iphones in general, but the option to turn the Wifi hotspot on should be in the settings somewhere. Connectivity option/near bluetooth?
@JaxonH I too have been mulling over an unlimited plan. Damn dirty cell phone carriers...
