Even though it arrives soon on 25th March, Kirby and the Forgotten Land got a decent segment in the latest Nintendo Direct. It was a good 'un, too, as it introduced 'Mouthful Mode'.
As you can see in the trailer Kirby can now transform into much bigger things, with some particularly inventive skills; Karby is an obvious stand out, but they all look like terrific fun to us. Some of the official blurb about this is below.
A new trailer for Kirby’s latest unforgettable 3D platforming adventure introduced Mouthful Mode! With Mouthful Mode, Kirby can inhale real-world objects and transform into a car to zoom around, a vending machine to attack with juice cans … or even become a piercing cone, to name just a few examples. If Kirby evolves his copy abilities at Waddle Dee’s Weapons Shop, which is located in Waddle Dee Town, his appearance will change and he’ll become even more powerful. Can Kirby rescue the Waddle Dees and restore peace to this mysterious world?
It's shaping up to be the most ambitious and impressive Kirby title in many years; we're looking forward to seeing how it'll shape up.
"Kirby's latest 3D platforming adventure"
Technically not wrong lol
Isn't Kirby a glorified black hole? Surely he could just suck up a car without getting stuck midway through.
Regardless, I love this so much. The only thing I hate is that I don't have the money to get this immediately.
Looks better and better with every trailer. I'm so excited
Karby in super Kirby odyssey!
Very reminiscent of Mario's demonic possession powers in Odyssey. Cool addition.
Well whaddya know their letting you upgrade your copy abilities and allowing different ways to traverse the forgotten land! Also the one beast pack member looks feminine...I bet we’re gonna get ANOTHER Susie. Now I’m TRULY hyped now!
That's not how you pronounce Kirby, thumbna...
(Looks at screenshot)
March 25 can't come soon enough. The game is looking so good.
@Lagster_YT Oops I wrote it as Carby, Karby is much better. I nicked it
Introducing... Vore Mode.
IMO, that was a great reveal. It was "that one special feature" to distinguish the gameplay different from previous games.
(Even though it is weirdly similar to Odyssey. Then again, one can see Odyssey as taking inspiration from Kirby, too.)
Very scared of r34, but Kirby eating a car! What will he do?!
This looks so much fun
Which one of you said "You wouldn't inhale a car" in the live chat?
I almost died.
Agreed on the Odyssey vibes
Hope they will have the good mix of difficulties from that game too - a handful of very tough challenges with these abilities could be fun!
I'm going to be so poor after this direct. Also I'm assuming the internet will take 'mouthful mode' well haha.
Different. I like it!
Yup, lots of Odyssey vibes, I noticed some puzzle solving with all these powers, looks like the best Kirby game yet.
It just look okay for me, not really hyped with the game but I still saw the potential.
I'm glad Kirby finally made it to the third dimension for real this time and not just a 2D play on a 3D image like in the N64 days.
Those bosses designs definitely won't go unnoticed. The Pangolin looks like a Rare boss.
But yeah this is so exciting! Please show more of this game so it can look more and more impressive
Looks fantastic. Just desperately hoping there's the depth to this game that the design effort deserves.
Karby is good, but Vending Machine Kirby is hilarious too. The enemies are animals, so there seems to be a "Nature vs. Industrialisation" theme going on. And at around 2:47 into that trailer, there's someone who's either King Dedede, or is wearing Dedede's clothes, or looks similar to him.
I like the visuals more than Odyssey's. Was never a big Kirby fan but this game looks interesting so I'll keep an eye on it.
Never played a Kirby. But it reminds me of odyssey (as others have stated above), so I’ll have a hard time not preordering some point.
I just love that there is stuff that he can't just anaconda and inhale.
What about the vending machine?
(Not as good a pun as Karby, but I try)
Definitely 'A Boy and His Blob' vibes with the mouth full modes!
It looks gorgeous and fun!!
@Fizza it isn't coming out immediately. You have 5 weeks to dump out your couch!
Let the cursed fan art begin.
Vending machine Kirby sold it for me - definitely going to pick this one up
This game looks so great! I'm more excited for this one more than any other game so far this year.
A lot of the upgraded attacks are reminding me of Kirby 64, this trailer is making me want the game even more.
I was already sold on Kirby and the Forgotten Land, this just made me even more excited for the game.
I am so looking forward to this game! I love Kirby games. They make me feel like a kid again.
Can't wait to get my hands on Super Kirby Odyssey! March and April are really starting to fill up....
@BongoBongo Definitely likely in some form https://twitter.com/kirbydiscovery/status/1491589525960749056?s=20&t=j0vkGIoi4LHyVZUxVechrA
Anyone else think that Kirby looks like a popped bubble a gum?
Is this 60fps?
Whatever the best selling Kirby game ever was, no matter how much it sold, this one is going to outdo it.
The switch is about to really be the best console of all time. Like....just the beginning of this year is pretty amazing.
All we really need is a new Donkey Kong, & a new Super Mario on the switch after this year.
(Personally id love another new main series fire emblem, the new elder scrolls game to be able to run on it)
I know the copy abilities were a highlight but the bosses and the Dedede tease was the real steal for me!
I can't wait for this game, it looks soo cute and fun. My first Nintendo game was "Kirby Dream Land 2" on the Gameboy and I still love him to this day! I hope hamster Rick appears in the game somehow, I had a ton of fun playing with him in Star Allies
Hope this Kirby game has the depth and difficulty that is far too often missing from Kirby games imo.
So far it looks better and better each trailer though!
... Wun can only hope.
It's astounding that any one of Kirby's abilities could be an entirely fleshed out game on it's own.... Nevermind the polish that Nintendo buffs on their mechanics.... Truly remarkable.
I will say though, it is getting harder and harder on paper to distinguish Mario from Kirby.
Mouthful mode 😂😂😂😂 I still can't stop laughing 😂😂😂😂😂
My thoughts on this:
Already had it pre-ordered so that didn't matter
No sign of spearguy player 2 anywhere in mouthful mode, a little worried about that as I only bought it to play w/ my wife
The weapon leveling gives me hope the game will be longer than I feared, I was thinking 6 but now maybe 10 or 12
Colony 6 looks fully fleshed out and really big, nice
Ok so any1 wanna buy my ps 5 ?
Love u Nintendo !
Awesome Direct <3
@Yakuboto Yes, It was one of the best of all! So many games! It is like E3 2022 !!!
Now I can't unsay "Karby".
@Sonos That's... uh.... a thought. Hmmm.
Looks very sweet indeed, even if its not truly free-roaming 3D.
That "mouthful mode" looks painful, especially with the car. Poor Kirby, he just wanted to eat an inanimate object. I think it's something we can all relate to.
For the love of whatever God exists in Dream Land, you get that thing out of your mouth right now, Kirby; that car is absolutely filthy!
Kirby games are too easy. So...i´m gonna wait. If next kirby is easy, i´ll pass...
@BenAV @ryu_san @RetroBox @Lony85 @PharoneTheGnome @Tyranexx @BoostPower @rjejr Agreed guys. Day one purchase for me, I may finally re-setup my Switch Dock with this game.
