I really enjoyed the sky isles at the beginning of the game but once I got on terra firma I really lost interest quickly. I did really enjoy those initial hours with the game though but can’t really see myself going back
@Denoloco I'd really want this too, its a shame having some great physical games where not all of it, or even all of it (such a shame with the metal gear collection) is not on cartridge
Their support for steam deck for evolution 2 is good, in terms of a graphics preset and controller mapping I believe so I could see them putting the effort into a switch successor port
I was really enjoying planet of Lana, but I’m coming up against game breaking bugs. I hit one switchup mentioned and took me some effort to get past, and then a more recent issue where I’m stuck again due to a bug. I’m waiting h til it gets a patch or 2 as it’s a nice game
@LXP8 It would be nice to have additional content added down the road. I strikes me theyre taking a similar route to their recent sports titles, where the biggest emphasis is online with a barebones single player. I love mario strikers battle league for its gameplay and aesthetic, I just wish there was much more meat on the single player bone
Very strange game this - as a proof of concept I can see its worth, I find it quite relaxing just to while away some time in at the moment but will quickly get bored. I'm wondering what Nintendo were thinking with this, was this always the goal for the game, or was it a quick dev job to plug a gap that a Switch 2 delay left? I assume not, as its releasing so close the Paper Mario, I imagine if that was the case they would want to stretch out the schedule somewhat. It seems this is the game Nintendo wanted....
I’ve played it briefly and the performance in handheld is not great at all. I’m not a frame rate fanatic or anything, but to me in its current state it’s no very enjoyable handheld so uninstalled for now. Hopefully a patch or 2 will sort it out, as it feels like a great game
@BeefSanta Ah ok thats fair enough then, whenever I hear amounts of lost progress like that it sets off alarm bells for me as I dont have much time to game so dont like losing progress. I just put down Metal Gear Solid 3 for this reason, as it seems to save from start of each scene and not at that specific moment you save
@Poodlestargenerica I'm just surprised that the license owners dont do more due dilligence into them when selling license rights, unless they know what they will more than likely get and are just happy to sell the rights for some cash regardless of any (potential) brand damage
The publisher is GameMill Enterainment, the same publisher of Skull Island: Rise of Kong. How they keep getting licenses to produce these games is beyond me
I watched the SwitchUp review last night and this one definately needs patching - they said they completed a 2 hour dungeon for the game to crash and lost all progress. I cant afford to waste that sort of time having to replay, once its patch up maybe I'll reconsider. It seems like this isnt just an isolated crash either, but it crashes quite often based on their review
Intrigues me as a relaxing game. I'm just hoping this isnt another Mario sports title that we've seen on switch where they're placing alot of emphasis on online with not enough single player content
@Lizuka Thanks for the info, good to hear about the good and bad - it might be a stretch but Nintendo may try to do some rebalancing, its seems they've put a fair effort into the remaster so far but I suppose it depends how far they'd take it, and most likely they wouldnt want to detract from the spirit of the origional. Its sounding good though from what you say
Paper mario has been a favourite of mine from Nintendo for a few years now, I enjoyed Paper Jam Bros and Origami King. For anyone who played this back in the day, do you think it will hold up by todays standards? I'm really looking forward to its release, and over the years on this site i've seen many people mention many times that TTYD is the best in the series - I dont want to get my hopes raised too high, but they're pretty high at the moment
Definately worth Microsoft exploring this space as theres definately demand for it, but whether a product comes to market or not, who knows. With steam deck I sort of feel like i have the best of both worlds at the moment, there are some great PC games to play, and also some great Sony games I've played to completion (Horizon Zero Dawn/Unchartered) but then I also love my Switch for Nintendo exlusives and other games I might play for long sessions and Switch' form factor works better for i.e. I much prefer Kingdom Come Deliverance on switch than Deck, same for Witcher 3
@Pipulitoch unfortunately we'll probably see more and more of this, just basically a form of outsourcing so the publisher doesnt need to care about physical distribution. I was very surprised when I saw Doom Eternal release via LRG
@Skhyzm thanks! I’ve ordered the physical for today so will give it a whirl. Didn’t pick it up at release as I’ve had a lot of multiplayer games I’ve enjoyed that died off quickly after release, Mario Strikers being one
@mattiasboden thats good to hear! Slight spoiler but I've just done the Keeping the Peace quest, patrolling the town with nightingale - are you beyond this point?
Been playing for 3-5 hours I think so far and must say it’s abit of a slow burn, though I am enjoying it. I do like the way you level up, feels quite refreshing to actually have to use skills for them to improve. Definitely won’t be for everyone though
@farrgazer likewise, when I used to take on Mac years back (please don’t shoot me both them and Feral made some great ports. Feral still seem top notch but what on earth happened to Aspyr, seems to me they just became a porting factory with no view to quality
I enjoyed origami king, thats really my first paper mario game - but I've heard that this one is the best of the series so am really looking forward to finally being able to play it
That’s how they get you, get you hooked early with free to play, then start gouging your wallet with stuff like this - all in their ‘product sales’ strategy no doubt
@haydxn I wasnt bothered about this, but then the internet seems to have exploded about it, so I've been checking daily for it being available again and will make the purchase right now
I've been enjoying this, I find it a little less 'boring' (note I use this word only in my opinion) as in Snowrunner the backwards and forwards across the same route to deliver the same goods for a task made me lose interest quite quickly. This one seems more focused (the expeditions) and beginner friendly, which i appreciate definately wont be to some veterans liking
Could be a good launch title for switch 2. Nintendo really need to be thinking about that now to encourage us to part with our cash on the new console. I’ll never forget how solid the switch’s first few years were, seeing the likes of Doom 2016 come to a portable like that I feel was a real game changer in the industry - I’m hoping we see some special things with the new console
@turnmebackwards I'd like to see a peek of switch gameplay from Kingdom Come Deliverance. Saber porting and running on the CryEngine, I'm curious to see what can be achieved. Current expectation is something similar to Witcher 3 but I've a feeling I could be pleasantly surprised, with Saber's previos work on CryEngine (Crysis games) on switch and how well they look. Caveat being I understand Kingdom Come is open world which could affect things
I don’t see the issue with manual saving myself, I much prefer that over checkpoint saves where you have to reach a checkpoint for progress to be saved. At least with tomb raider remastered I can save and quit the game whenever I want. My sometimes hectic schedule doesn’t gel well with the former
I must be honest that trailer looks rough - i dont think they should have ported to switch. Developers should now start thinking about keeping their games back from switch to launch it on the successor hardware
Very interested to see what the new console is like based on all these rumours and how close/off the mark they are.
The biggest shame in all the rumours which I hope isnt true is the return to an LCD screen - that would be a shame after the beautful OLED model. As they mentioned in that video, the screen upgrade, to me anyway, actually felt like the internal hardware had been upgraded too. It made such a difference that when I got my steam deck LCD, I kept playing witcher 3 (blood and wine) on switch as the colours of Toussant just popped in a way they didnt on deck, even though deck was running with much higher overall graphics settings.
