Re: Koei Tecmo Releases New Switch 2 Demo For Wild Hearts S

ozwally

Had a play for about an hour and it'll be a miss from me. Really glad they put the demo out, I appreciate that, the graphics just arent really great and in areas look low res like a Switch 1 release such as rocks, landscape - especially in distance, cardboard cutout trees

Re: "It Will Have A Chilling Effect On Game Design" - EU Group Responds To 'Stop Killing Games'

The issue for me would be live service games, which I now generally avoid, whereby if they're not successful within the first X months they decide to discontinue the online service. Do players get a partial refund? What if you didnt get enough of an opportunity to enjoy the game you paid for? I totally understand the position of developers and publishers, I really do, it just hits hard when a new flashy live service game launches to then be killed mere months after release - thats just not fair on the paying customer.
The lesson I learned from it all was just to not buy live service games, however appealing they may be, and I've stuck to that rule for years now

Re: Talking Point: One Month On, How Did Nintendo's Switch 2 Launch Go?

ozwally

Very happy with minor gripes, screen isn’t quite where I’d want it to be with the blurryness in motion, and battery life isn’t quite where I’d like it. The issue with the battery % being innacurate is also somewhat frustrating. Looking forward to a refresh in the future if one should happen but this will do me over nicely (bar any faults) until then

Re: Switch 2 Users Are Reporting Instances Of Their Consoles Overheating

Could be the game as mentioned above. Looking at Tokyo's weather at the moment it looks roasting and humidity looks high (not looking at the dew point) so perhaps something there, maybe faulty units or even the cooling used isnt adequate enough - something that definately warrants investigation as it could be dangerous/cause harm to a user

Re: Mini Review: Locomoto (Switch) - On The Right Cosy Track, But Has A Few Train Faults

@Solomon_Rambling like others mentioned I think it’s personal preference. I don’t enjoy animal crossing as I find that boring as I’m not into the subject (furnishing a home etc) however I love Construction Simulator (the latest one on Steam) and I myself see that as a ‘cozy’ game to chill out and really take my time with - I imagine many others would find the game boring
Oh and another good example for me was from decades ago, I used to love doing flights in real time in flight simulator century of flight, that I found so chill and loved too

@Zealv2 thanks for the link, I wasnt totally convinced until I got to that image of the crashed wanzer that was turned into a 'helicopter' - that image just doesnt make sense in my mind and cant have had much if any human oversight.
Good article, and I shall temper my expectations now somewhat, thanks again
That 'base' schematic too, i mean, eh?

@Pillowpants for me I’m not a tech geek or in the 0.1%. The only issue I have is the blurryness in motion in Cyberpunk - genuinely thought it was motion blur so turned that off and still blurry in motion. Overall I’m happy enough with it, and dont care about HDR or VRR on the screen. The blur is noticeable though, probably depends what game your playing though as I honestly cant say I didn’t notice it in MK World

Re: Poll: Has Your Switch 2's Screen Got Any Nasty Scratches Yet?

ozwally

This is exactly why I bought the Nintendo Switch Adjustable Charging Stand for my OLED, as the OG switch I had looked a real mess because of the dock rubbing against the screen - that did have a screen protector on but it still looked a mess by the time I got rid of it years later.
First thing I ever do with anything like this is put a screen protector on, never leaves the box until I have one

Re: US Retailers Are Playing With Fire With More Switch 2 Cancellations

FYI incase it helps anyone - my preorder with Nintendo store was failed to take payment last week as the pre-verification you have to do with the bank in the uk (using the app to approve a purchase) never happened at all in the process so my bank just declined the purchase - ended up using Paypal in the end which was fine for their retry attempt

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life eShop Selects (May 2025)

Really been enjoying American Arcadia, almost finished (I plan to tonight - a rarity for me to finish games)
Some frame rate hiccups and low resolutions at times though make me think at this time Switch 2 would have been a better target platform

Re: "If You're A Real Fan, You'll Find A Way" - Borderlands 4 Dev Gives Tone Deaf Response To Price Concerns

With Switch 2, we wont be leaving the generation with a backlog a mile long like alot may be with Switch - games we bought and never or rarely played. Might be a good thing? I remember when I was young I could only get 1 or 2 games a year and they were treasured and enjoyed to the end. These days im working and have a backlog of games that i'll never play, and rarely complete games now.
This is a good reason for me avoiding games now such as Borderlands, as I get bored of them so quickly, and just to be more selective about what I buy

Re: Nintendo: "Physical Games Are Still A Key Part Of Our Business"

ozwally

I see it as not a great move but I'm trying to look at it a little more positively. I'm someone who trades in games, especially if they turn out not to be great - I'm thinking if game key cards didnt exist, would all of these current game key card games therefor come to the eshop only and we'd never see a 'physical' release? Thinking like that, these game key cards give me the opportunity to get rid of games, especially ones I dont like, rather than buying via eshop and being stuck with them/all cash lost.
Dont get me wrong, I treasure physicals and Cyberpunk was a no brainer for me to pick up. During the Switch generation I really didnt like the games which required download, like LA Noire, a game I love - I really would like to have that game on the cartridge as a single example
The only issue is, game key cards seem a cheap and easy 'way out' for these developers to avoid paying costs for a true physical - its encouraging them to go game key card rather than true physical which I dont like at all
