@The-Chosen-one I've over hundred hours on Switch (dont ask ) and it plays great. I did load it up briefly on Switch 2, I can confirm it runs fine atleast for 5 minutes, thats as long as I played for
Had a play for about an hour and it'll be a miss from me. Really glad they put the demo out, I appreciate that, the graphics just arent really great and in areas look low res like a Switch 1 release such as rocks, landscape - especially in distance, cardboard cutout trees
The issue for me would be live service games, which I now generally avoid, whereby if they're not successful within the first X months they decide to discontinue the online service. Do players get a partial refund? What if you didnt get enough of an opportunity to enjoy the game you paid for? I totally understand the position of developers and publishers, I really do, it just hits hard when a new flashy live service game launches to then be killed mere months after release - thats just not fair on the paying customer.
The lesson I learned from it all was just to not buy live service games, however appealing they may be, and I've stuck to that rule for years now
I’d agree with a lot of what I’m reading online that Kunitsu-Gami is a hidden gem, not just on Switch 2. Gives me real Soul Sacrifice vibes from the Vita
Very happy with minor gripes, screen isn’t quite where I’d want it to be with the blurryness in motion, and battery life isn’t quite where I’d like it. The issue with the battery % being innacurate is also somewhat frustrating. Looking forward to a refresh in the future if one should happen but this will do me over nicely (bar any faults) until then
Could be the game as mentioned above. Looking at Tokyo's weather at the moment it looks roasting and humidity looks high (not looking at the dew point) so perhaps something there, maybe faulty units or even the cooling used isnt adequate enough - something that definately warrants investigation as it could be dangerous/cause harm to a user
@Olliemar28 @8bit-Man @Zuljaras @Yosher really really hope I’m wrong, but wasn’t this already confirmed as game key cart? I recall somewhere (was it even here?) was making fun of the name ‘tarnished’ saying the release certainly was because it’s game key cart.
@Solomon_Rambling like others mentioned I think it’s personal preference. I don’t enjoy animal crossing as I find that boring as I’m not into the subject (furnishing a home etc) however I love Construction Simulator (the latest one on Steam) and I myself see that as a ‘cozy’ game to chill out and really take my time with - I imagine many others would find the game boring
Oh and another good example for me was from decades ago, I used to love doing flights in real time in flight simulator century of flight, that I found so chill and loved too
Just bought this yesterday after seeing it in the 25 release games for Switch 2, and seeing that it was a hidden gem and rated well on Steam - so far really enjoying it
Im all in on Cyberpunk at the moment. Not a great deal bar MK interested me at launch, thats a positive as it means I get to really focus on Cyberpunk, maybe even finish it this year (thats not a joke)
@Zealv2 thanks for the link, I wasnt totally convinced until I got to that image of the crashed wanzer that was turned into a 'helicopter' - that image just doesnt make sense in my mind and cant have had much if any human oversight.
Good article, and I shall temper my expectations now somewhat, thanks again
That 'base' schematic too, i mean, eh?
@Pillowpants I agree, I dont think it ruins Switch 2 at all and I was expecting a downgrade from OLED as well, it isnt OLED overall I'm happy with it but if you do get into Cyberpunk (maybe Metroid Prime in future) you might notice it more then - the eyes do adjust though, but for my first minutes in the game my eyes felt 'dizzy', I'll be honest
@Pillowpants for me I’m not a tech geek or in the 0.1%. The only issue I have is the blurryness in motion in Cyberpunk - genuinely thought it was motion blur so turned that off and still blurry in motion. Overall I’m happy enough with it, and dont care about HDR or VRR on the screen. The blur is noticeable though, probably depends what game your playing though as I honestly cant say I didn’t notice it in MK World
I’m definitely seeing blurryness in games that this most likely accounts for. I’m happy enough with the screen and understand it will have been due to cost implication, however I will look forward to a potential refresh (OLED or at least better LCD) in years to come
I wondered what the blurryness in Cyberpunk was, I disabled motion blur but still found it somewhat blurry for my liking in motion, so this probably explains what I’m seeing. Think I’ve gotten used to it now though
It looks like Nintendo are onto another winner, seems the move to iterate and not innovate is paying off - I love the switch concept/family as a whole so glad they took this approach. With my lifestyle at the moment it fits in perfectly whereas a true home console doesn’t
Really enjoying cyberpunk. I’m glad Switch 2 released with few games I’m interested in as I really get to focus on this - usually when there are too many releases I flip between them and none ever get finished
For me nostalgia would really hit if Wave Race was added, GameCube was my first Nintendo console with that being my first game on it. I’ve got a GC controller waiting and ready to go for when (if) the day comes
As we're talking physical, this doesnt surprise me at all with the game key cards. Cyberpunk was a no brainer for me, great game and all on cartridge = sold! I bought Hitman as I was unsure if I'd like it, and the key card atleast gives me the opportunity to trade it in (funilly enough, I do like it).
This is exactly why I bought the Nintendo Switch Adjustable Charging Stand for my OLED, as the OG switch I had looked a real mess because of the dock rubbing against the screen - that did have a screen protector on but it still looked a mess by the time I got rid of it years later. First thing I ever do with anything like this is put a screen protector on, never leaves the box until I have one
@Gonçalo Lopes can’t thank you enough for the heads up on Cleared Hot! I’ve actually been looking online at Desert Strike, Soviet and Nuclear lately really hankering for something new in the series
Its honesly alot better than i was expecting (I still remember the terrible OG switch screen) but I do miss my OLED screen. However, I'm happy to play on this for years to come until hopefully an OLED model releases
As long as the hardware does us well for many years im happy, hopefully with some great third party ports coming over the years (as we all know Nintendo will provide solid games for its lifecycle)
@ViewtifulCool Yep I see this, I've definately had 90% before but then it stops charging, drains somewhat so when I pick it up it can be at 82%, assume at some point it'd start charging again to get to around 90%. Sounds like this is how its supposed to work.
@Indielink very interested to see how that game runs, will get it for sure. It should highlight what is and is not possible on Switch 2 as what I've heard that game is pretty demanding
@Finntendo Glad they managed to take the funds in the end! I had a feeling it would happen with mine as the issue occured before with other things, never used PP before but was easy setup and to use with Nintendo store
FYI incase it helps anyone - my preorder with Nintendo store was failed to take payment last week as the pre-verification you have to do with the bank in the uk (using the app to approve a purchase) never happened at all in the process so my bank just declined the purchase - ended up using Paypal in the end which was fine for their retry attempt
Really been enjoying American Arcadia, almost finished (I plan to tonight - a rarity for me to finish games) Some frame rate hiccups and low resolutions at times though make me think at this time Switch 2 would have been a better target platform
@Mattock1987 exactly same boat for me. I’m about 7 hours in but have decided to throw in the towel (I read the story online instead) as it’s take me months to finish, and with Switch 2 weeks away I know what would happen so decided to shelve it permanently
With Switch 2, we wont be leaving the generation with a backlog a mile long like alot may be with Switch - games we bought and never or rarely played. Might be a good thing? I remember when I was young I could only get 1 or 2 games a year and they were treasured and enjoyed to the end. These days im working and have a backlog of games that i'll never play, and rarely complete games now.
This is a good reason for me avoiding games now such as Borderlands, as I get bored of them so quickly, and just to be more selective about what I buy
@BynoShadow Totally agree - they'll have a business case for each game. I think their support of Switch has been pretty decent to be honest, they've brought quite a few titles when you look at it (LA Noire, GTA trilogy and Red Dead) though the way GTA trilogy landed, that stung
I really cant see GTA6 coming to Switch 2, if it does it'd be in a pretty butchered state I imagine. Realistically though Red Dead 2 and GTA 5 I could definately see happening and being really solid ports of the games - I'd be very happy with that as I've played neither
I see it as not a great move but I'm trying to look at it a little more positively. I'm someone who trades in games, especially if they turn out not to be great - I'm thinking if game key cards didnt exist, would all of these current game key card games therefor come to the eshop only and we'd never see a 'physical' release? Thinking like that, these game key cards give me the opportunity to get rid of games, especially ones I dont like, rather than buying via eshop and being stuck with them/all cash lost.
Dont get me wrong, I treasure physicals and Cyberpunk was a no brainer for me to pick up. During the Switch generation I really didnt like the games which required download, like LA Noire, a game I love - I really would like to have that game on the cartridge as a single example
The only issue is, game key cards seem a cheap and easy 'way out' for these developers to avoid paying costs for a true physical - its encouraging them to go game key card rather than true physical which I dont like at all
