@John_Deacon They really are, I was wondering if they'd change direction with solo content compared to Switch, but based on this my initial thoughts are I'll be skipping all Mario sports games on Switch 2 as this seems the way Nintendo wants to approach them.
Its like the odd direction with Mario Wonder too, I dont care for the multiplayer content at all there, but I do want the upgraded visuals
I’m happy to let this pass me by, as the lack of solo content seems to be a continuing trend from the Mario sports games on Switch - I’m still gutted about Mario Strikers, that had so much potential and could have been so much more
@SpaceboyScreams this is a minor worry of mine, enjoying it so far but how will 3 fair on Switch 2. I’m hoping they don’t move to unreal engine 5 for it as that might cause problems on Switch 2
I’m not really seeing the many benefits of AI yet, at present and as a genuine concern of mine it’s really starting to devalue the worth of the internet in terms of having to really question now what is real/accurate information and what is not, especially in more important areas around my area of work (IT)
I’m not all that fbithered by the censorship per-se, for me it’s the way it’s done with the black bars - when I watched a few video reviews I felt like it’d be far too distracting for me when playing. Might get this eventually but it’s really dropped down my buy list now. I think this move will cost them a lot of sales on Switch 2, I feel like the devs should fight Nintendo on this if possible (loss of earnings etc) but it’s probably something specific like no animation with nudity in Nintendo’s legal conditions somewhere as mentioned
I’m not really one for metroidvanias but just want to give a shout out to MIO - Memories In Orbit, it’s really sunk its teeth in me. Well worth it for any genre fans (I think - I’m no expert) and especially newcomers, very enjoyable
@sketchturner great thanks for letting me know, from the positive comments it sounds time I pick this back up and get it completed as the issues sound like they’ve been resolved
@Divide_and_Wander thanks for letting me know! I’d really like to complete this before 2 releases, based on Lofoten’s response above I’ll give this another shot
@Lofoten perfect thanks for your reply! It sounds positive so I think I’ll pull this out of my collection and play asap before the release of 2. Thanks again!
@Divide_and_Wander Did you play this on Switch by chance? And if so how was it, did you experience many bugs? I'm really interested to know as I do want to go back to this - the reason I ask is that I got it at launch as I loved the look of it, yet I hit quite a few bugs early on, 1 bug (mentioned in the SwitchUp review where the 'cat' keeps dropping from the sky) which totally blocked my progress and made it unplayable.
@dabaumer yeah that’s the catch, I did keep hold of some rarer ones and some I enjoyed that I’d probably play again but if I kept them all the wife would have had my head for spending even more on switch 2 games 😀
@dabaumer that’s a big backlog going already 😀 I’m trying to be sensible with Switch 2 as I had so many games on Switch, when I came to sell most of them it was crazy how many I’d barely played and the money I’d wasted - hoping I can keep it sensible from now on but time will tell
@dabaumer thanks for the reply, I’ve added it to my ‘to play’ pile next to finishing off persona 3 dlc and Star Wars outlaws. Issue is next major distraction is now inbound with the ff7 release, I might try get this going in between sessions of that
Resident Evil 2 remake is the one I’m really keen for, just for nostalgia reasons back to PS1 days. Hopefully with all these RE titles coming to Switch 2 it’ll be on the table at some point
It’s the comments online that have put me off playing this. I’ve had it since launch but seeing all the negativity really saps the desire for me to play it. This article does help somewhat to give me a kick to give it a fair chance. (I’m not a longtime Metroid player/fan so I might appreciate it more)
My bad perception from EA came from their chasing of in-game purchases I.e. loot boxes and whatever’s happening in fifa - they seemed to me to want to gouge the customer for as much as they could , the Star Wars Battlefront 2 saga as an example.
But then to balance this in my mind, they’ve published games I’ve really appreciated that have none of this such as Command and Conquer Remastered a few years back.
At the end of the day they’re a business out to make money for their shareholders, as any listed company is, and they do this via games. They need to maximise this return and I understand that more now as an adult - if doing so means they can fund other great games then so be it
Baldurs Gate 3, Switch 2 with mouse mode and already nice install base, come on, it has to happen right. If it doesn’t it sounds as like the IP holders decision, and what fools they are if this is their decision to not launch on Switch 2 - totally illogical
@HugoGED oh right, I honstly didnt know that. Not sure why they'd reboot it, as the origional was great - I assumed it was jhust the same on a newer engine. Thanks for clarifying!
Was the 2019 remaster of modern warfare not as good as the original - I chose 2019 as I figure that’d be the better version, just to see in results the original has a higher percentage of votes - just genuinely curious, was it bad?
Fond memories of the original, would love to see it in either form come over
@Duncanballs yeah agree, wise to wait for a sale on FF is that’s more likely.
For me on Switch my main issue was I never really completed games, trying to turn that around with Switch 2, though a lot of great stuff is out/coming out so need to be mindful what I pick up - I really appreciate all these demos were getting lately, that helps
The demo did interest me but the major issue is time. Final Fantasy 7 is out this month which will take me months, just finishing off Persona 3 Relaod which I’ve been playing since launch then seeing this could be a good 80 hours, I just can’t possibly fit it in with resident evil releasing in Feb also. Wish I had more time, but with Switch 2 I’m being more sensible and not having a ridiculous backlog of games that will never get played and to be honest I’m getting more enjoyment from the system by actually seeing good games through to the end now
I hope the single player contents decent, I found it lacking in a lot of Nintendos sports games in Switch. Mario Strikers was a huge disappointment in that regard, but could have been amazing
@Scoopz I do also feel from what Atlas said in a previous statement that it seems abit of a rushed port, and as DF mentioned it’s probably under resourced (in terms of devs working on it) though to have it at all in atleast happy about as I’ve been really enjoying it. Looking forward to more from Atlus, P4R hopefully next
@Neonix is definitely appreciate that, going through P3R right now, very enjoyable but I hear 5 is best, have it on my shelf for Switch but heard it looks abit rough on Switch 2
@andykara2003 can add me to that list, tried Assassins Creed Shadows, got 8 hours in and by that point I was far too fatigued and just thought ‘not this again’
@larryisaman my best guess is the gulf between the handheld and portable specs, it took me by surprise how reduced the specs are in handheld compared to docked when they were revealed - not sure if Switch 1 had such a difference docked/handheld, but like you say at least we do get the option of handheld. As I’m 100% handheld, it’s obviously essential for me (a traditional console is a no go right now)
Something about it really captured my attention, and played several hours before other games came along. For now I’m waiting on a potential Switch 2 edition but if one doesn’t materialise I think I’ll eventually get this completed as-is
I tried it last week post patch and the resolution and textures to me still aren’t good enough. In the cafe at the beginning the shimmering/aliasing on so many surfaces looks like something that could be migraine inducing, was just very uncomfortable to look at.
Here’s hoping for a Switch 2 edition, but I do really appreciate they keeping working on it, just one last push please WB/Turn Me Up
@Lizuka I’m really enjoying so far, 67 hours in with probably another 15 to go. Quick question, did you play The Answer DLC? I’ve been reading mixed opinions on that online and am unsure whether to pick it up or not
If a friend has a physical, borrow that, buy anniversary upgrade, then get the Switch 2 edition. Return cartridge to friend and you can play without the cartridge, as it’s a separate app
Basically with it the way it works now, you can get it for £8.99
@Shhh oh yeah for sure, when I use motion controls with a bow I can certainly feel something is a little off, but not to the extent I see in videos - I probably have hand eye coordination issues or something 😀 as based on everything I’ve seen there’s no denying there’s a big issue with the game
Weirdly this isn’t affecting me, I’ve just completed Bleak Falls Barrow and on my way to turn in quests.
Definitely not denying there’s an issue here as the evidence is right there, but for me I don’t seem as susceptible to this latency. For reference I also don’t see much of an improvement in games from 30 to 60 fps and I’m terrible at games such as fighting games so might explain why I’m not as affected.
Might be worth people giving it a go as like me you may not notice it as much
@BaldB3lper78 I just actually loaded it up on Switch 2, and it’s still terrible. The resolution is so low in the opening scene in the cafe that everything appears to be moving on screen due to the aliasing, it’d probably give you a headache with prolonged use
@SlimeRyu I managed to play about 2 minutes of FF7 demo last night and my word, that looks like its going to be a stellar port - 2 minutes and I was blown away, now to find more time to actually play it properly
@BaldB3lper78 SwitchUp on Youtube do all patched up videos every so often which I find useful, they do mention Knight often so hopefully they cover it soon - might be worth keeping an eye out there for their feedback, I'm so keen for this game to be 'fixed' on Switch 2
@rvcolem1 I think the review was deserved when you look at how the game could/should be. I think the Switch was too ambitious a port to tackle in all honesty as I recall this on its original 2015 release there were so many issues performance wise on anything but PS3. This game actually runs and looks really great on Steam Deck, so I think in reality a Switch 2 port of this would have made more sense
I don’t know how much work would be involved but a Switch 2 Edition of just this game would most likely sort a lot if not all of the problems out. I’m really hoping they’re looking at doing that
