Re: The First Review For Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club Is In

@gcunit This is exactly my issue. Towards the end of each scene there seems no real logical option to click bar hitting each option/seaching the scene - looking for any useful tips on this, but to me it seems more like the design of the game than anything you can really pick up on and get used to
And yes, that bloody bus stop scene - that was frustrating and iirc the correct option was so random you would never think of it

Re: Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club Demo Update Now Live

I'm enjoying the game but find the 'gameplay' abit hit and miss, when conversations are nearing their conclusion i usually find myself just randomly selecting all the options just to hit the right one to progress - does anyone have any tips for me on this, or is this just a product of its design?
I will be getting the game however as the story really intrigues me and definately want to see where it goes.

Re: Random: Alien: Romulus Pays Tribute To Alien: Isolation With... Telephones?

@Truegamer79 for me Alien hasnt been that great since the Aliens movie. Its like terminator, in hindsight I'd have been happy if both series ended after the 2nd.
Prometheus for me was a movie I wish I'd never watched, as it really killed the mistique behidn the derelict on LV426 - I always wondered when I was younger about that derelict, who were they, where from etc etc. Now we have the answer its lost alot of that

Re: Random: Alien: Romulus Pays Tribute To Alien: Isolation With... Telephones?

@Truegamer79 I remember some years back there was alot of rumbling about something like this happening, I'm sure it was by Neill Blomkamp. There was some concept art available online and probably still is now, if I'm correct and it was Neill he seemed really keen on getting the movie off the ground but ultimately it came to nothing (it may be because Prometheus was greenlit but I cant recall) - such a shame that it never happened. Also theres an interesting manuscript that might be still available online which I read for a version of Alien 3, where the planet is made of wood (dont ask, I have no idea ) and Hicks survives - might be worth a look.
Also I have the darkhorse comic of Alien 3 by William Gibson (a scifi author) which is also interesting. It seems like there are so many ways that Alien 3/the aweful Alien Ressurection may never have happened the way they did, but we got what we got

Re: Poll: Are You Ready To Move On From The Switch?

ozwally

@WhiteUmbrella I think the key takeaway is that Nintendo cant really please everyone. For me I love the Switch but I only play handheld, as at present my lifestyle only allows that. If Nintendo released a home console I wouldnt buy it as I simply wouldnt be able to use it.
The advantage we all need to take from their current concept is their game output - as they collapsed their handheld and console dev's into one it (should) mean more output/more chances for people to play a wider variety of games.
Before Switch I had 3DS and Vita - some great games on them, however I felt that big releases that appealed to me were few and far between - Metal Gear 3D, Killzone Mercenaries etc whereas with Switch I have had the pleasure to play some amazing games such as Witcher 3, Doom 2016, Mario Wonder, Luigi's Mansion 3 and currently really enjoying Ace Combat 7 to name but a drop in the ocean of games I've had the chance to play.
But this is definately a case of they cant please everyone, as I guess there are many many Nintendo fans who would love a dedicate home console from them, I'm just not one of them.

Re: Review: Darkest Dungeon II (Switch) - An Uncompromising Sequel That Isn't Afraid To Try New Things

@SwitchVogel totally agree, I much prefer creativity like this over more of the same with some new additions. I think it helps the original keep its value - I hate to say it on a Nintendo site but Splatoon 3 is a game I feel this way about. I’ve tried so many times to get into it, but after playing so much of 2 I think I’m pretty burned out on the formula they have, even though for all intents and purposes 3 is the better game. Personally I think I’d have preferred a longer wait and have 3 on the next Nintendo console

@Ooccoo_Jr Agree too - I used to be a PC player, recently took a look at steam and could just not believe how large some of the installs are for games now - how much crap/unused assetts there must surely be in there that bloats the package and degrades performance must be unreal
i.e. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 @ 149GB - what the.....

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

ozwally

@jesse_dylan I got really fatigued with the origional game, and cant see myself picking this up for the new path. As a new player however, I'd probably recommend going Path of Vengeance in-case you become fatigued with it like me.
Coincidentally, I cancelled my pre-order this morning, great reviews but the thought of playing through the game again, I just cant do it
Edit: Important side note for me - I've not played Persona 5, this review makes me really think I should be doing that rather than replaying SMTV

Re: Comedy Horror 'Killing Time: Resurrected' Announced By Nightdive Studios

ozwally

Such a shame, that background art had to be from The Thing when you see side-by-side. Hopefully it is their next project, else someone in marketting department got the images wrong
Edit: Actually it says it will be announced at IGN Live Friday, looking at the schedule for that it doesnt start until 9pm UK time so there could very much still be hope for The Thing being announced tonight

Re: WayForward's 'Clock Tower' Switch Port Receives Stunning Physical Editions

ozwally

Likewise i've not had an issue with LRG. The massive bonus for me is that the whole game is on cartridge, what I really cant stand are physicals that release with a download required, I mean whats the point? - the metal gear physical still makes me sad
I also got some pysical games that otherwise might never have gotten physical releases like Alien Isolation and Doom Eternal, which is nice

Re: Video: One Year Later, Our Video Team Share Their Thoughts On Zelda: TOTK

ozwally

@SalvorHardin I've not played much of TotK so dont know if its in there, but combat something like Dragons Dogma might be good for large bosses, where you can climb onto them and attack specific areas i.e. each large enemy has HP for each limb etc. Again not sure if something similar to that is already in there, but think it could work well to freshen it up
On top of that as an idea, if you could pick up heavy objects and hurl them at enemies for specific area damage, i.e. hurl a rock at a large enemys leg to cripple them and make them hobble to reduce their speed, making it easier to take them down

Re: Talking Point: Which Games Were Just The Perfect Length?

@PikminMarioKirby this is why I’m really looking forward to TTYD, as I did quite enjoy origami king bearing in mind it’s my first paper Mario. The characters and story writing I thought were great and I must say I think it’s my favourite Mario franchise. It did feel like it was too long though. Roll on the 23rd!
