@Clyde_Radcliffe It was interesting, alright! š Iāll give them this. Eternal Darkness was awesome. It speaks to the uniqueness you, and others, have spoken of. Also, that robot game. Sorry, the name escapes me at the moment. I felt like Nintendo was in an odd position at that point. How to appeal to a post GTA3 gaming world. They were already off to a bad start with a purple box, that looked like a toy. Not to mention the cute handle to carry it! I was hyped for āProject Dolphinā back in the day!
They showed us that awesome Zelda demo, only to give us Wind Waker. Not disrespect, but at the time it was disappointing. Mario Sunshine was frustrating. I donāt mind a challenging platform game, but get the camera right. It felt like a stumble for a mainline Mario game. Speaking of Mario, including him in a DDR game, thatāll bring the teens into the Nintendo fold! š Double Dash never really clicked with me.
Nintendoās E3ās during this era, outside of the original Zelda demo, were snooze fest. People kept waiting for the MEGATON announcements. What we get, stuff like Pac-Man vs. š
This was the first and only time, I repacked a system and took it back to the store, in hopes that it wouldnāt look like I played it. I eventually purchased another one , but it never clicked with me. Sorry for the harsh tone. I mean no harm! š Some of this is personal opinion, but they made some goofs that hurt their brand for years.
This a mindset Iām pretty sure Iāve NEVER heard anybody having in the industry at the time! Itās really interesting to read this. I remember thinking the deal was confusing at the time. The GameCube was pretty lame, in comparison to the competition.
A holiday themed game, released after the holidays, on a system that was never embraced by the masses and is now dead. I admire the developers for doing this, despite whatās stacked against them. I hope itās a good product and its well received, by the public. I thought Nintendo ended the WiiU eShop?
@Zebetite The virus already seems to be closing in. Iāve had six relatives get it, three currently dealing with it, one passed away. Their not my closest of family, but itās still family. What Iām trying to say is, the government CLEARLY isnāt trying to help. What are people suppose to do? Out here in Cali, a lot of shops are closed down. Or, they stay open for five hours a day, close on certain days. It makes handling day to day business a pain. I drove out of my way go to a business, recently, only to see that it closed down. This has happened to me multiple times. And these places usually arenāt part of some huge corporation. How are people suppose to survive? Thereās also the issues with people whoāll have to pay rent owed. If the government wonāt cut a check, so people can stay home...š¤·š¾āāļø People are going to get desperate.
@Zebetite People need to live! Take precautions and go on with life! I live in California and these laws are ridiculous and makes it seem like we canāt govern ourselves. Itās also killing businesses. A lot of these politicians are using this virus to turn into some kind of wannabe dictator. I knew California was headed for trouble when the governor said that heāll turn off the utilities to any non essential business, open during the pandemic. And heās done it. And months later, hear we are with more lockdowns and restrictions. Trying to cancel holidays, while he gets to eat a fancy restaurants, at a table with more than five people. Congrats to this gentleman for realizing a dream in these incredibly uncertain times. I hope itās a BOOMING success.
sighs I wish the stars would aline and Rare gives the people get what they want. Iāve grown tired of seeing these guys occasionally pop up and everybody gets all misty eyed and nostalgic! š Seriously, though. It would be great to see a PROPER return! I remember owning a 3D version of this game. I wanna say it was on the 64, but I donāt recall Capcom being very supportive of the 64. Maybe it was the PS2. Anyway, I remember it being too tough for me to enjoy.
@Stocksy the vitriol is kind of surprising. I wonder if thereās an undertone of jealousy in a lot of these comments. If this was somehow going to be released on the Switch, as part of their āpartnership,ā people would lose their minds.
I could be wrong, but it feels like a Netflix has fallen off. Iām not seeing a lot of buzz surrounding them, these days. My debit card expired and Netflix couldnāt charge me. Didnāt think twice about not renewing it.
Another bare bones collection that shows their ego, because they know the masses will eat it up! Iām guessing. I bought the All-Star collection! š
Dope article! I somehow missed part one. Iām just now seeing the community, article...thing. Sorry, I donāt know the proper term! š Iāll definitely look into some of these!
I used to love the animated show. Never knew what I was really watching, while I ate my breakfast! I might get this. Iāve never been a big point and click person, but Iāve been curious about it.
I overlooked Dragon Quest Builders, the first time this article was published. I was too busy looking for Origami King. Iām glad boredom brought me back!
@Toy_Link Iām confused. So Nintendo was also suppose to be a part of Epic Universe? I thought it was strictly a Universal thing. Or, was Epic Universe supposed to be next to Universal? I remember hearing about that park, but I thought it was itās own thing. Is the setup something like Disneyland and California Adventure?
I loved the buildup to the actual release. I found the creator interesting. Pixar playing a part helped my excitement. Too bad the negatives were a no go for me.
Never heard of the series. Just reading this article gave me shovel ware vibes. Then I see the comments. I wonder if the developers name triggered something subconsciously! Maybe Iām aware of their work and didnāt realize it! š
@Miyamotosan There was somebody (a fellow commenter) who convinced me to buy it. The reviews and peopleās opinions had me on the fence. The comment and the fact that people seemed to not be to fond of the Wii entry (the only Mario RPG game Iāve played AND LOVED) convinced me to eventually get it. After seeing the comments on the Wii entry, Iām thinking, ok, so is it the game that people genuinely wasnāt to fond of? Or, do the fans want Nintendo to give them more of the same (the SNES version) with updates? Iām leaning more towards the later.
I bought S3 back in March. I love Picross. Even the 3DS game. But, after awhile, the puzzles in S3 started to feel like a chore. The rules arenāt that clear on how to solve the more complex puzzles. I resorted to using hints, which takes away from the fun, and even then it felt like guess work in order to continue. Whenever I got stuck back in the day, it felt it took clear and logical thinking to get myself out of whatever jam I thought I was in. Sad, because when I did play, it was a nice change of pace, when compared to other games I have.
Can somebody PLEASE answer this question?! I have this game, and the first, downloaded. I want to play the sequel, first (played the demo). So I have to play the original game, in order to enjoy this game? I havenāt been able to find an answer, anywhere?
I havenāt been able to find the answer to this question. Since the game has been brought up, Iāll try again.
I have Yooka Laylee and the sequel download, ready to play. I want to play the first game, but seeing how I played Odyssey this year, Iām afraid of it being a letdown. Especially after the ok reception. But, I really want to play the sequel! Do I have to play the first game, in order to enjoy the sequel?
@Umario251 thanks for that! Iāll go ahead and get the game, once I make my way through at least half my backlog (almost finished with Okami!) One question. Why do you find the battle system questionable?
To this day, Iām on the fence as to whether or not I should buy this game. Iāve read and watched reviews. Iāve looked at people comments on it. Iām still undecided. š¤·š¾āāļø Iāve only played the Wii Paper Mario. I LOVED that game! It wasnāt until the release of King, that Iāve noticed a lot of people donāt like the Wii entry in the series. I might end up getting it, based on my experience and how others felt about Super Paper Mario.
Sega gets a lot of flack. Most of it (all?) is justifiable. But, Iāve always admired them for taking chances. What they did with the Dreamcast is a beautiful example.
š³ My face when I saw the number of comments! š
I have both Switch consoles. I got both around the same time. While I enjoy how much easier it is to carry my Lite in my backpack, I rarely use it. Matter of fact, if it wasnāt for me seeing the article on this site, about charging the console, I wouldnāt have touched it when I did. Also, itās rare that I play my OG Switch on my tv.
I have lots of love for Nintendo, but these anniversary collections show their hubris. š If this ends up being true, it wouldnāt be a big deal, if the collection was stuffed with extras. Same goes for timed releases.
I have nothing against Reggie. But, reading interviews with him became boring after awhile. He sounded so...corporate. I get it, itās his job. I just didnāt understand the rabid love after awhile. Always saying āthe right thingā regardless of the situation.
Not since the GameCube have I been so bored by the launch of a new console. No killer AAA games, day one. The ability to play new games on the old consoles, makes this next gen even less exciting. All this excitement about quicker load times, teraflops and playing however you want, had me thinking how happy I am with my Switch. Not since the SNES has Nintendo been in such a beautiful position in terms of library of games. Also, it started out the gate strong. I hear that the Xbox, play how you want feature, works surprisingly well. But, it canāt compete with having the Switch library on the go. In my eyes, it never will. This, coming from somebody who owns an Xbox One to go with my Switch.
Okami. I was on it heavy until I found out Roller Coaster Tyson 3 was out, and was actually good! Iām about 30 hours into Okami. I want to have it done by Monday. I have a digital backlog and Iām ready to move on. Still love Okami, though! Iāve also gotten the hang of playing RCT 3 on the Switch. It was painful! š
I played the original on Game Pass. I loved it, but I never got around to finishing it. Donāt know why, exactly. I loved it while I played it. I will definitely buy both on the Switch.
Edit: Itāll be interesting to see how the rumble is on the Switch version. It helped to immerse myself while playing the game on the Xbox One. Very strong!
