Re: Nintendo Showcases Every Direct Game In A New Infographic

outsider83

At this point, I’m over the hype for these presentations. I haven’t been impressed by one in a long time. Nintendo seems more concerned with expanding their brand. While giving us lots and lots of cozy games and JRPG’s. It used to be farm simulators and JRPG’s! 😏

Sony and Microsoft showed off a bunch of games that looked the same. Show me screenshots with no characters, I wouldn’t be able to tell which is which. If this were an E3 week, I would be so disappointed.

Re: Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition Officially Announced For Switch 2

outsider83

I recently bought a Switch 2. I played a bit of Rayman on the N64. I've always been curious about a 3D Rayman. I love the 2D games. It'll be interestingting to see how it translates into 3D. Especially when it comes to difficulty.

I'm playing the 3D Kirby at the moment. Since I have the online service, I may as well take advantage. I don't know if I should play Rayman or Zelda: Orcarina of Time on the N64.

I want to play Wind Waker. But I read that it's the sequel to Ocarina.

I played both games on their original consoles. I could never get into Zelda. But I'm willing to give them another chance.

Re: Capcom Teases Okami 20th Anniversary Celebrations

I was late to the party. I remember the original release. Never piqued my interest. When it came out on the Switch, I decided to give it a try. I LOVED the game! The only thing, I never beat it! 😩 It's a long game! After the big reveal, I played for a while longer. Eventually, I lost interest. I didn't think it was boring, I had enough. Spending time trying to figure out what to do added a lot to my play time.

I was always in awe of how beautiful it looked. I can't wait to see what they do with today's hardware. I bet the transformation of lands will be stunning!

Re: Movie Review: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie - A Faithful But Overstuffed Sequel

outsider83

Never wanted to see the first movie. Mario being light on story, coupled with Illumination’s filmmaking style, made me think it wasn't for me.

I've always felt that Mario Galaxy was my Mario movie experience. Light on the story. It was cinematic. Moments of fan service. It was like playing the evolution of the series. It surprised me in many ways. No way the movie could have lived up to Galaxy.

I saw the trailer for the second film. I actually enjoyed it. It ALMOST made me want to see the first. The reviews are a reminder. I'm probably not going to like it. I've had issues with American animated movies and the need to constantly simulate for years.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy Movie Toys Arrive In McDonald's Next Week

outsider83

@Jeyl I was about to type a similar comment. Back in the day, I was a SpongeBob fanatic. McDonald's was giving away toys I wanted with each Happy Meal. I drove around, until I was able to purchase them all. I did the same thing when Burger King had SpongeBob watches. I hadn't eaten at either place in years. Some of the workers would look confused. 😂

Re: Poll: What Nintendo Switch 2 Games Are You Most Excited For In 2026?

outsider83

I haven’t seen anything that makes me want to purchase a Switch 2. And nothing on the horizon. I feel like Nintendo is coasting and the people are lapping it up!

My mind is on a Steam Deck. Which is something I never thought I’d consider buying. I had no beef with it. I’m used to the big three.

Edit: Maybe coasting is the wrong word. But something feels off about Nintendo these days.

Re: Industry Veteran Hideki Konno Has Apparently Left Nintendo After Four Decades

outsider83

@AussieMcBucket If I remember correctly, when the press ran stories about Miyamoto retiring, Nintendo’s stock price took a hit.

I'm aware of them passing their methods and knowledge to the new generations. But I still wondered about Nintendo’s future.

There are so many examples of key people
no longer being with a company and the company suffers.

I later found out that Miyamoto wasn't part of the development of Mario Odyssey. After that, I felt they'd be alright.

It proves that how they do things is working.

Re: Japanese Charts: Nintendo's Dominance Continues As Switch 2 Flies Past 4 Million Units Sold

outsider83

I haven't been this confused by Nintendo’s success since the pandemic. I don't care how long we were inside, ANIMAL CROSSING! 😩 And that game seemed to carry Nintendo for TOO LONG! And that holiday line-up…😏

I'm still waiting for a few reasons to take the leap. But I'm not feeling Nintendo as a whole. I've never considered getting a Steam Deck, until recently. A majority of the time, when I see a trailer for something interesting, it's on Steam.

Re: Talking Point: Smashing Switch 2 Numbers Prove Nintendo's Strategy Is Super Effective

outsider83

@bosh In another article, I mentioned the lack of “excitement” for the Switch 2. I forgot it came out. The excitement for the OG Switch was palpable. I was told it wouldn't be the same since the Switch 2 was a continuation. Also, the library isn't up to snuff yet.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's feeling this way. I'm seeing all of these amazing numbers, but they're not translating to life. I remember seeing the OG Switch everywhere. These days, when I see one, it's the OG Switch.

I started thinking about the Wii U launch. It was also quiet. I wondered if the Switch 2 was headed towards a similar era. It didn't help that I was getting A LOT of negative Switch 2 videos on YouTube. I never look for negative content on Nintendo. So, I was surprised by the recommendations.

Also, all the talk about prices and key cards. I thought about the launch of the Nintendo 3DS. Did Nintendo’s ego bite them in the butt, again? I guess it didn't.

Even with Switch 2’s success, Nintendo feels very different in this era. Not in a good way. And, I'm not thinking about prices or key cards.

Re: Switch 2 Reportedly Sold 2.4 Million Units In First Three Months On The Market (US)

outsider83

@electrolite77 @Doctor-Moo I guess it's the lineup. When the OG Switch was released, there was excitement in the air. It felt like Nintendo finally got it right. I forgot that the Switch 2 came out the day it was released. It felt muted. And it's felt like it ever since. I guess when the big games drop, it'll be a different story. I don’t think it’ll happen this holiday season.

Speaking of big games. I still don't understand the hype that surrounded Donkey Kong Bonanza. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Re: Switch 2 Sales In The US Are Outpacing The Original Console By 75%

outsider83

@BonzoBanana I’ve always thought the UK was more into the PlayStation. From my perspective, since the days of the original Wii (when I started paying attention to weekly sales), Nintendo has done pretty well in the UK. However, their strongest markets were the US and Japan.

I'm from the US. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Honestly, I'm surprised by the success of the Switch 2. I forgot the system had come out the day it was released. Like you, I felt things were different. The hype was palpable when the Switch was released.

Re: FBI Shares Official Statement After Seizure Of Major Switch ROM Site

outsider83

The older I get, the more I sense deja vu. Layoffs. Studio closures. Pirating. Questionable decisions, leading to a shaky time. System launches and all that surrounds them. Just about any type of “controversy.” It all feels like it just keeps happening in some kind of cycle. Even articles about these types of events. And the comments under them.
