Re: UK Charts: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Launch Sales Are 190% More Than The Wii U Version

I remember people getting tired of the Wii after a few years on the market. There were complaints about a lot of shovel ware. Now, I’m starting to see complaints about this once exciting console, being relegated to a port machine. Interesting.

I guess Nintendo has the ability to do what Disney has been doing. Taking old, beloved IP’s, releasing an inferior port/remake and selling it to the masses. I enjoy my Switch, but I have similar feelings about Disney and those CGI/live action remakes. It’s terrible how those movies makes over a billion dollars. Soulless when compared to the 2D originals.

@FragRed now that you have mentioned it, I was in that camp of judging that game, based on Odyssey. I did not play Odyssey until early last year. I remember looking at Lucky Tales, in a quest to continue to get my 3D platform fix. It didn’t look impressive. I ended up getting Yooka-Laylee, only because of who was behind it and I enjoyed the demo for the sequel. What I played felt ok. I had more fun with the demo for the sequel. I kind of want to skip playing the first game and go right into the sequel, but I didn’t know any of the characters! 😂

I still need to finish Sunshine. It threw my controller down in frustration, back in the GC days, and walked away from it. Replaying it on Switch was a reminder as to why. 3D World and Sunshine are the only Mario game’s I have not beaten. While playing the remaster, I only got to chasing the metallic Mario (the first time) and was THROUGH! Originally, I got to the amusement park and was THROUGH! 😂 Once I pick it back up and beat it, I’m going to get this game. I was near the end of 3D World and had to sell my WiiU. Looking forward to replaying it!

Re: Soapbox: Retro Nintendo Games Cost Too Much, But Nostalgia Is Expensive

I’m 38 years old. I’ve been playing games on Nintendo systems (and many of its rivals) since the late 80’s. I still had most of that stuff, until I started selling it five years ago. I made GOOD money! I understood why Nintendo was so strict when it comes to pricing. Their products hold value like no other (of the big three). Even old instruction booklets, old NES cart sleeves and some surprises in my collection. Like the going price for Frankenstein on the NES! And I didn’t even test it before selling it (had no way).

Re: Super Mario 3D World's Platforming Will Be "Snappier" On Switch, Gyro Support Included

Has Nintendo milked the Mario franchise as much on any other Nintendo console? I’m not complaining. I understand the reasoning. It just seems like, in the past, there would be long periods with no mainline Mario game. With all of these ports recent times, you have to wonder, what’s their plans for Galaxy 2? It has probably been spoken of, ad nauseam, but, I wonder if there’s a remake in the works for the new Switch. Maybe a launch title.

Re: Video: Footage Of Yoshi's Ride At Super Nintendo World Surfaces Online

I would like to see a thrill ride based on the Galaxy games. While I’m not big on needing glasses to experience theme park attractions. I think a 4D ride, following Mario going from planet to planet would be fun. To make it more interesting, the levels are enhanced versions from the game and it’s not always the same experience. You’ll get a different batch of planets, each ride. The sensation of flying from on planet to the next. Surrounded by stars and the feel of wind. The impact upon landing. Feeling all the elements.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life's Switch Game Of The Year 2020

The write up on A Short Hike got me thinking. Are there a lot of indie developers who create games, with the 32 bit era graphics in mind? I’m so used to the 8 and 16 bit eras being shown love, I never thought about 32 bits.

I laughed after reading the first line for #1. I honestly couldn’t think what could possibly be #1. Totally forgot it came out this year.

Re: Random: RE4 Director Was Worried About PlayStation And Xbox's Future, So He Did A Deal With Nintendo

@Clyde_Radcliffe It was interesting, alright! 😒 I’ll give them this. Eternal Darkness was awesome. It speaks to the uniqueness you, and others, have spoken of. Also, that robot game. Sorry, the name escapes me at the moment. I felt like Nintendo was in an odd position at that point. How to appeal to a post GTA3 gaming world. They were already off to a bad start with a purple box, that looked like a toy. Not to mention the cute handle to carry it! I was hyped for “Project Dolphin” back in the day!

They showed us that awesome Zelda demo, only to give us Wind Waker. Not disrespect, but at the time it was disappointing. Mario Sunshine was frustrating. I don’t mind a challenging platform game, but get the camera right. It felt like a stumble for a mainline Mario game. Speaking of Mario, including him in a DDR game, that’ll bring the teens into the Nintendo fold! 🙄 Double Dash never really clicked with me.

Nintendo’s E3’s during this era, outside of the original Zelda demo, were snooze fest. People kept waiting for the MEGATON announcements. What we get, stuff like Pac-Man vs. 😐

This was the first and only time, I repacked a system and took it back to the store, in hopes that it wouldn’t look like I played it. I eventually purchased another one , but it never clicked with me. Sorry for the harsh tone. I mean no harm! 😂 Some of this is personal opinion, but they made some goofs that hurt their brand for years.

Re: Feature: Why Open A Video Game Shop During A Global Pandemic?

@Zebetite The virus already seems to be closing in. I’ve had six relatives get it, three currently dealing with it, one passed away. Their not my closest of family, but it’s still family. What I’m trying to say is, the government CLEARLY isn’t trying to help. What are people suppose to do? Out here in Cali, a lot of shops are closed down. Or, they stay open for five hours a day, close on certain days. It makes handling day to day business a pain. I drove out of my way go to a business, recently, only to see that it closed down. This has happened to me multiple times. And these places usually aren’t part of some huge corporation. How are people suppose to survive? There’s also the issues with people who’ll have to pay rent owed. If the government won’t cut a check, so people can stay home...🤷🏾‍♂️ People are going to get desperate.

Re: Feature: Why Open A Video Game Shop During A Global Pandemic?

@Zebetite People need to live! Take precautions and go on with life! I live in California and these laws are ridiculous and makes it seem like we can’t govern ourselves. It’s also killing businesses. A lot of these politicians are using this virus to turn into some kind of wannabe dictator. I knew California was headed for trouble when the governor said that he’ll turn off the utilities to any non essential business, open during the pandemic. And he’s done it. And months later, hear we are with more lockdowns and restrictions. Trying to cancel holidays, while he gets to eat a fancy restaurants, at a table with more than five people. Congrats to this gentleman for realizing a dream in these incredibly uncertain times. I hope it’s a BOOMING success.
