Re: Nintendo Switch Is 'Barely In The Middle' Of Its Life Cycle

outsider83

@sixrings When I play Mario Odyssey (docked or handheld), I find myself thinking, who needs 4K and teraflops. Especially the first time I saw the moon level. I always use that level as a showcase for the power of the Switch. It’s never failed to wow! Or revisiting the beach level later on and it’s sunset. BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Re: How To Fix Your Nintendo Switch When It Won't Turn On Or Charge

outsider83

My heart skipped a beat when I saw this. I thought I was about to get educated on Nintendo’s version of ā€œthe red ring of death.ā€ šŸ˜‚

Now that I’m thinking about it, I don’t think they make systems like they used to. After the original Nintendo, from the next era up until the PS2/Dreamcast/GameCube era, I never had problems with my systems, outside of my Game Gear dying. After that, I’ve had every major console, except the 360 and PS4. Every one of them (other than my Switch) have died or given me problems. I guess the more complex the system...šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø

Re: Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee Launches On Switch Later This Month

outsider83

@duffmmann until I saw your comment, I forgot that used to think the same thing! šŸ˜‚ As years went on, I looked at it as something of an Xbox mascot. My memories of this franchise always starts with the hype of the first release on the original Xbox. First time I played an Oddworld game was the awesome Strangers Wrath (original a Xbox).

Re: Review: Streets of Rage 4 - A Perfect Modernisation Of A Beloved Franchise

outsider83

@Joekun Thanks for sharing! It’s always interesting to hear somebody’s opinion on their retro console of choice when it’s one you don’t hear about often.

By the way, I watched a video review of SoR 4. It was my first time seeing it in action. Now I want it! šŸ˜‚ While looking at it, I’m thinking, this looks like a side scrolling Street Fighter Alpha 3 beat em up! I just bought the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary collection (on sale!) a few days ago. I also bought Okami, so I’m tapped out at the moment. But, I will be getting this game! šŸ˜‚

Re: Review: Streets of Rage 4 - A Perfect Modernisation Of A Beloved Franchise

outsider83

@Joekun if you didn’t grow up seeing those Genesis does what Nintendon’t commercials! If the thoughts of BLAST PROCESSING doesn’t get your engine going these days, we’ll then I feel sorry for you! šŸ˜‚ jk

Your retro system of choice is an interesting one. What makes you pick the TG16/PC Engine? Never had one. I always wanted one, I wanted to play Bonkers. I only knew one person that had one. Got the chance to play it and loved it!

Re: Review: Streets of Rage 4 - A Perfect Modernisation Of A Beloved Franchise

outsider83

@Joekun I’m also tempted to get SoR 4 because of the hype. When I think back to those days, I’m not sure if I preferred the SNES or Genesis. I think the SNES provided a more polished gaming experience. A testament to Nintendo’s development style. But, the Genesis gaming experience felt cooler. I guess that’s a testament to their 90’s marketing muscle (Nintendon’t šŸ˜‚). Also, the Genesis had the original Mortal Kombat, with BLOOD!!!! šŸ˜‚

A part of me wants to say Nintendo, but I feel that’s only because Nintendo has endured the way they have over the years. We all know how Sega has faired over the years. But, when I think back to those halcyon days (I’m feeling a bit nostalgic now šŸ˜‚) of the 90’s, Nintendo and Sega appealed to me for different reasons, but they brought me equal joy in the end.

Re: Review: Streets of Rage 4 - A Perfect Modernisation Of A Beloved Franchise

outsider83

@Joekun What’s funny to me about your comment is that I grew up loving SoR and games like it. I’ve replayed a lot of these game’s over the years thanks to retro compilations. What struck me was how similar they all felt to me. Yea, there are things in the games specific to their worlds, but when you get down to it, it all felt like the same thing to me. While replaying those games were cool, I didn’t have the urge to finish any of them. Back in the day, I was always anticipating these types of games. I loved these types of games so much, I wanted that Mortal Kombat spin-off, Subzero Mission, or something like that. I dogged a bullet with that one! šŸ˜‚

Re: Review: Telling Lies - Sam Barlow's FMV Detective Thriller Translates Smoothly To Switch

outsider83

Holy cow! I had no idea this was coming to the Switch! I remember reading a review about this game out of boredom when it originally came out. I’ve wanted to play it ever since!

Edit: I jumped the gun on my comment out of excitement. I did a quick glance at the review before commenting. I now see that I’m thinking of Her Story. I’m still doing to purchase this game.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Sold More Digital Units In A Single Month Than Any Console Game In History

outsider83

@TheLightSpirit As somebody who had consoles going back to the NES up until last year, you are not lying. As I (and my consoles) got older, I realized that they wear out. As a child and teen, I figured they broke due to usage. But, the Dreamcast, PS2 and PS3 (I bought two!) I owned told me otherwise. My Dreamcast would no longer read certain games. My original PS3’s power supply went out (pretty much same thing happened with my Xbox One). My redesigned PS3 stopped reading disc. My PS2 stopped reading disc all together. When I put a disc in, it sounded like sand was on the disc.

After having to move a couple of times in the past five years, I’ve decided to go all digital. I’ve sold my collection of decades worth of games and systems. I still had boxes and boxes of heavy books to move. While in the midst of that, I thought, it’s official, I’m going all digital. I wanna be able to pick up and go with little fuss from this moment on.

I currently have an OG Switch and Lite, Xbox One and my for streaming only PS3. I’ve gone digital with my Switch’s (what a pain that can be!). I sign up for Game Pass when I want to play games on my Xbox. I don’t plan on going back. Physical media has started to feel like burdens to me. I had over 1,000 games and movies. shudders I still plan on buying books!

Re: Fans And Analysts Ponder The Eternal Question: Can Nintendo Survive Without Shigeru Miyamoto?

outsider83

If somebody has already mentioned this, my apologies! If I’m not mistaken, hasn’t Miyamoto said in recent years that he’s become more hands off when it comes to development? During the WiiU era, didn’t he bring up this very fact and the press ran with it? It turned into Miyamoto is leaving and Nintendo’s stock dropped. Didn’t that happen?

Edit: And, Miyamoto has said that he no longer swoops in and completely shuts games down.

Re: Theme Park Simulator Brings The Fun Of The Fair To Switch This Week

outsider83

I would love a Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 port. I remember when the original game came out. This was at the height of my love for roller coasters. I stayed up for three days straight playing. Good times! I remember my heart breaking after discovering how broken part 3 was after it’s initial release. By the time a patch came my excitement had greatly diminished. That was my first experience playing a broken game at released and having to wait for a patch.

Re: Yooka-Laylee Is Now Three Years Old

outsider83

@Aurumonado Wow! I can honestly say that I’ve never seen a comment like yours. I’m not trying to start anything! ā˜ŗļø I was just genuinely surprised by your comment. I haven’t played either game. Just read about them and gamers opinions.

Re: Yooka-Laylee Is Now Three Years Old

outsider83

I recently got a Switch. I want to get the sequel I’m passing on the first game. I love 3D platformers, but the reviews turned me off. As for the sequel, I enjoy those kinds of games, but something is telling me to pass on it. I think it has to do with what I read about the world map.

Re: Nintendo Switch Stock Concerns Grow As Shipping Gets Temporarily Halted In Japan

outsider83

I just so happen to be at the right target at the right time a few days ago. Was able to score a regular Nintendo Switch while there to buy a Lite. Crazy thing is, I have a Lite coming in the mail. I was too impatient wait. I wanted to play it over my three day weekend. So I decided to go to one of only two Targets that had the Lite.

When I get up to the register, I tell the guy what I want. There were only three Lites in the display case. He ask if I wanted a Lite. It tripped me out because I only saw the three Lites. He told me that they had just gotten in a shipment of the regular Switches. I was like YES!!! ILL TAKE ONE!!!! Haven’t regretted my purchase one bit.!!!

Re: Super Mario 35th Anniversary Rumours Intensify

outsider83

I loved the Mario RPG entry on the Wii. It feels underrated to me.

If this is true, I hope they treat this collection better than the last collection of Mario games. At the same time, unlike the other Mario games, these games haven’t been updated prior to the compilation release. So remasters alone may be enough for me to forgive a barebones collection. I hope they improve the camera for Sunshine. It kept me from beating the game.

Re: Site News: Say Hello To Our Resurrected Sister Site, Pure Xbox

outsider83

I remember buying an XBox One a few years ago and being so annoyed. It was one of the sites that helped convince me to buy one. Only to have to shut down! It was as the only good site I could find dedicated only to the XB1. Look forward to seeing how it, and the next Xbox generation moves forward in the future.

Re: Feature: Animal Crossing: A Brief History

outsider83

I remember this game coming out on the GameCube. I remember looking at it as yet another reason to be disappointed in Nintendo. The GameCube is my least favorite Nintendo system. I thought the game sounded silly. My thinking back then was, if it wasn’t the Sims, why bother? This, along with Pikmin, havr surprised me with their fandom and longevity. I still haven’t played one single AC game, but it’s fun to read about the games and the fans reaction. Like when people lost it over some character being featured at the end of one of Nintendo’s announcement videos. I think it was a female character and she was sitting in an office setting.
