Postal Redux, an HD remaster of the now 23-year-old twin-stick shooter, is set to launch on Switch next month. This is the first time that any game from the franchise has appeared on console.
Said to be "more than just a remaster", Postal Redux includes new levels and a challenging new gameplay mode called Rampage. Redux first launched on Steam back in 2016 generating 'very positive' user reviews.
With the new powerful addition of Rampage, POSTAL fans will go wild. The outrageous single-player game play mode rewards an aggressive style of play by increasing a multiplier for each consecutive kill in a streak. Players will receive a score and letter grade following the completion of each level. Rampage Mode will incentivize gamers to replay levels using different strategies to increase their score. Rampage gives gamers endless hours of fun, with its addictive and re-playable gameplay.
Postal is a series known for its controversy; back in 2004, it was reported that New Zealand banned Postal 2, threatening fines for anyone who owned a copy, nevermind those who actually sold the thing. The controversy mostly centred around its high levels of violent gameplay.
The game will be available for $9.99 on the Switch eShop and will launch on 16th October.

Certainly will buy it. I'm a big fan of the original Postal, and know i will give the remaster a go.
Hope they end up bringing the second game of the franchise too!
The first one isn’t terrible, 2 is terrible but so awful it kinda is playable and the third is an absolute dumpster fire. Whoever thought we would get it on a Nintendo console though.
Pls release Postal 2 on the Switch! Then Postal 4 when it comes out! We don't talk about postal 3...
Loved the first 2 back in the day when I was an adjusted goth kid. Luckily I grew up. Now I'm old.
Never thought this would happen, I am so happy.
While I would prefer Postal 2 (watching Civvies Pro Postal series was immense fun) I understand limitations with the engine on that one so I am happy with this at least.
Amazing to see that this was considered controversial back on release considering the plethora of violence based games we have these days, some designed to revel in it. Nowadays it is more anything sexual is a no-no to certain western groups.
They should have released it on Nov 3rd in the US, we could play it while we watch real life events mimic it outside our windows.
The original is a pretty fun game with some nice art from what I remember. all the others looked awful to me so I never bothered. This is cool news.
Meh, I'm more interested in the Rise of the Triad remaster 3D Realms is working on.
This is like the weirdest game that can come to Switch - so angry and violent. Basically, it completely goes against anything that Nintendo stands for. Never in a million years I'd imagine that I will be playing Postal on my Switch. And you know what? - this is awesome!!! Bring on the second one, please!!!
Wasn't this game also banned from the Android app store?
Good to see that it's going to be released on Switch and Nintendo is not censuring it.
BTW, not related to the post but, currently, Bulletstorm is 75% off on eShop.
I've never played it before and can certainly say that this game is amazingly fun.
With this discount, it is a real bargain.
"blessed are the meek, for they make easy targets"
23 years later and I still remember lines from this game.. Imma get it
Postal on the go?! Good stuff!
Now we need Postal 2!
@Magician rise of triad already had a remake didnt it? Or is this updated version of original you refer to? Similair to releases of blood, turok, forsaken ect?
Never heard of this game. I was expecting something along the lines of a modern day shooter before I clicked on this article. Imagine my surprise... 😂
"This game is so controversial!"
Also:
"But here's absolutely no details!"
There's millions of violent video games with torture mini games in GTA to the airport massacre in COD. What makes this title cross the line?
Is there a big boobie anime girl? Maybe even a nipple? That's usually where controversy comes from in games. I thought all violence was fair game at this point.
@BeautyandtheBeer love Civvie, watching him playing Plutonia was hilarious lol
@clvr Yeah loved the Plutonia one, I can watch him play anything, he's that good.
@nessisonett I would say that's a pretty good assessment. Though I kind of hate to admit I did enjoy 2 somewhat in the "so bad it's... sorta good?" kind of way. It's a divisive game to be sure.
Interestingly, Running With Scissors has pretty much completely disowned 3, even going so far as to making a DLC expansion for Postal 2 saying 3 was nothing more than a bad fever dream or something.
There's a video here that goes into more detail for anyone interested https://youtu.be/WJnivzm-WjA
@bigcalsworld Postal 4 came out last year. No regerts.
Postal 2 was kind of cool when it first came out but that game is a big headache with not enough stuff to do. The AI is just too crappy for it to be fun anymore.
@doctorhino Its only in early access atm.
@rjejr That's.... pretty damn funny. Good work. 👍
The book “Postal” by Nathan Rabin & Brock Wilbur by Boss Fight Books is an amazing history of the game and movie - I wish Limited Run would do a pack for this game
@Alpha-2002 I hope it's funny and not prophetic. 🤞
@Ratking Take a look over at the Hatred Steam forums. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the News.
Also, Postal Redux on the Switch, WOOOOOOOOO!
From the game title, I thot this would be about a rampaging angry postman. (Mail person) with the ability to shoot flaming mail out of a mail bazooka of sorts.
I never played the original. I thought it was a point-and-click game like Syndicate before learning that it was a twin-stick shooter. If that's the case, I hope there's an option to just hold the stick in the direction you want to shoot without having to press a button. It's not a dealbreaker if there isn't though.
Postal is the only game series that Uwe Boll turned into a movie that was true to the source material.
Make of that what you will.
It's a decent twin stick shooter, controversy aside. Postal 2 is "So bad... it's kinda good" Postal 3 is so bad even the developers recommend that you don't buy it and will laugh at you if you buy it anyways.
Postal 4: No Regerts(<--- actual title) is in early access right now.
@BeautyandtheBeer yeah he's very entertaining.
I also really like Decino, he pulls off some really crazy stuff, usually involving brutal difficulties and fast monsters lol
Wow, this is shocking. I will definitely be buying this just to be able to play it with a controller!
@BeautyandtheBeer remember the backlash Hatred got? All the while gta is over here doing its thang.
@PhhhCough I wasn't actually into gaming much when Hatred first appeared so didn't see the 'uproar'. That still baffles me considering how lauded MK is in it's gross depictions of brutality.
Postal 2 is pretty much the only game that people liked in this series. There is Postal 4 now but that is pretty much just an expansion for Postal 2.
BTW, game's been pulled down from EU eshop, as it's been indexed in Germany, but for some reason they've pulled it down for the whole EU region.
bummer.
waiting for nintendo EU department to put it back on sale again.
